Family Currency
by Satanus inwhat is the currency on which your family operates, ie, who runs things, how?
is it power based, and who has the power?
how do they use it to get things done?

Is it, *gasp* based on love and consideration?
Yes! Second marriage and hubby and I had familiar mates before who ruled the roost with iron fists over money so we are both more relaxed and way more honest about spending. There is absolutely nothing I could buy that he would get angry about, nothing! I have to regin myself in most of the time and I do so because now I handle all the money ie bill paying so I know what we have and what we need to pay and at his request I keep him informed.
He did it for the first couple of years and was a bit shall I say absent minded and that didn't sit well with me and my hard earned good credit. He realized I had more time to spend with the finances and I've done it ever since. He brings home his check, signs it and gives it to me to deposit in the bank and when he needs money he goes to the ATM.
We've been financially strapped and yet we never argue about money, who has what or how much who spent on what. We trust each other because we are working toward a common goal. I'm a saver, he's a spender but he's also a penny pincher when it comes to spending I'm not! I guess we balance each other out.
We don't view money as power we've both suffered enough from that in our other marriages and it sucks. When my X was stingy about money it made me want to spend it to get back at him and I did, big time! Bad way to be in a marriage plus then I would hide what I bought because I was literally afraid to let him know....ha as if....stupid! It's a good feeling to know I don't have to hide things and also that when I show my husband what I bought he is happy about it because he knows it makes me happy.

My Grandpa Died Sunday
by noni1974 inmy grandpa died sunday afternoon.i was there in the room with him.i had to watch as he struggled to take his last breaths.it was horrific to watch.this was the second time i have watched someone in my family die.he died of prostate cancer.it was a long and painful death.i'm glad he's not in pain anymore.. at the moment i'm feeling a little emotional and upset about what i saw and all of the jw bs i had to listen too.i'm also dreading the jw memorial which is next weekend.i am planning on going.i'm da ed so i don't expect anyone to come up and talk to me or express there sorrow to me.the thing is i feel like i should be comferted and people should tell me they are sorry i lost my grandfather.i lost someone who i had alot of respect for all of my life regaurdless of how close we were after i da ed.i think i'm going to be excluded at the dinner after.they are planning a reception type thing for after the service.
i'm glad i did get the chance to see him and talk to him before he got really sick.i had the chance to go to dinner with him and my parents and a couple of my aunts a few months ago.when he was leaveing he asked me pointedly for a hug.he said he was collecting them.i hugged him and said i loved him.that was the last time i saw him till i went to my aunts house where he was staying just before he went into hospice.the next time i saw him was 3 weeks ago when he entered hospice and wasn't expected to live the night out.then i saw him sunday i arrived about 20 to 30 minutes before he took his last breath.he was creamated this week and will be buried with my other family in our family plots soon.. anyway i'm just in need of some kind words of support at the moment.i though that jwd would give that to me even though i don't post here that much.it really sucks to feel alone at times like this..

Can/Should someone be in love with more than one person?
by AK - Jeff innot a question that affects me personally - i am dutifully bound to a single woman now for 33 years [omg that is 1/3 of a century already].. but do you believe that it is possible or profitalble to fall in love with more than one person at the same time?
in western culture it is normally considered 'betrayal' to do such a thing - but thoughout history and in cultures outside of the west today - it is considered acceptable, even normal.. typically it is the man who has more love interests than just one - not the woman - but some cultures have supported multiple partners for women also.
this is not a thread about judging others - just an inquiry about opinion.

LOL I think it would be exhausting!
But do you believe that it is possible or profitalble to fall in love with more than one person at the same time?
I'm sure it's possible. I don't get the profitable part of the question?

I frankly don't care what adults do with their lives I only am concerned when children are involved. It's not the best situation to bring up children in because they need/deserve a stable life in which to grow and be nurtured in. That said if there is no intent of ever having children or you are beyond the child bearing years, whatever floats yer boat.
