Having a bit of difficulty here...
by wanderlustguy ini haven't posted much in a while because i've been in deep thought about some recent events and trying to sort them all out.
i think you guys all know me well enough to know if i'm just freakin nuts or not...so assuming you all think i am sane...does this sound crazy to anyone else?.
when i got here, people kept telling me that if you come here, walk here, and are supposed to be living here, you will do so within a month of touching the ground.

Your epitaph...what would you like it to be?
by onacruse inimagine that you are staring down from some ethereal plane of post-death...not the funeral, mind you, but perhaps years or decades after your physical decease.. what would you feel pleased to see written on your gravestone?.
me:.
he thought he'd figured it out,.

The abuse continues, emotional, but it's abuse, ck it out. . .
by Pioneer Spit...oh, i mean Spirit inmy sister's girls, 9 and 12 were in colorado for 3 weeks with their mom in december, we had the pleasure of celebrating christmas all together.
these are great girls, as most kids are!, the 12 year old worried about her pets while she was away.. when she returned, they were gone.
she's crushed, devastated, deeply depressed.

Hey don't get me wrong but the way you present this there are too many things missing. Are you asking for advise or just wanting sympathy? What do you really want, just to vent? We all feel helpless, what can we do or say to make this any better for the children involved they are the ones really suffering.
The parents share custody and are in different states.
One question which to me seems logical.......why doesn't the mother of these children live about a block away from them so she can be more hands on and give them a soft place to go when things get bad at Dad's? Most mother's are very tenacious about protecting their children.

Maybe God is evolving, too..........
by journey-on inwith all the topics about god and whether he loves us or not....why he was such a meanie in the ot......his habit of flip-flopping from loving to raging to loving again....made me think:.
if the bible god is real, maybe he, too, is evolving spiritually.
maybe when he created us, he thought in "black and white" concepts: i set the rules...you obey them....if you do, i'll be nice and reward you....if you don't, i'll punish the hell out of you (including but not limited to death by stoning).

If God is perfect does that mean that he cannot become more perfect? is he stuck?
My thought exactly. How can perfect evolve and why would it need to?
Here's a good book for God to read:
Getting Unstuck: Breaking Your Habitual Patterns & Encountering Naked Reality [AUDIOBOOK] (Audio CD) by Pema Chodron (Author) http://www.amazon.com/Getting-Unstuck-Breaking-Habitual-Encountering/dp/159179238X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1200105804&sr=1-2

When she returned, they were gone. She's crushed, devastated, deeply depressed. Their evil JW father somehow 'disposed' of her cat and her horse, likely sold the horse, while she was gone. No explanation.
Can you believe the cruelty???!
Well in my opinion what is really cruel about all of this is that some adults seem to think it's okay to leave two minor children in the hands of an abusive parent. They are children and it's up to the adults who know about this to deal with it by not doing so and believe it or not by commiserating with the children over it you are being just as abusive, you see you're an adult children depend on adults to protect them.
They might be describing things to you in a complaining manner because they don't really feel they have a voice to say HELP! Please take it as a sign that they need help and get it for them however you can and as soon as possible.
If it were me I would be on the first plane out there and have already called child protective services and have the local police department ready to got to the door with me as soon as I got into town with a can of real whip ass! But that's just me, sigh.

Okay enough. I have to say I'm really ashamed at how y'all welcome a newcomer and fight among yourselves. Sheese just like one big happy family........sigh.
Cognac, coffee_black and Hypnotic we look forward to you posting new thread all about your meeting sometime next week and I for one hope y'all have a great time and can put this silly redundancy behind you and that you'll stick around on JWD, we really do have better manners than what you've been shown here so far. Please don't judge all of us by the rudeness of some.
This thread is over.

I have in my hands "Report on Everlasting Good News" June-Sep 63
by jgnat inthe full cover reads, "report on 'everlasting good news' assembly of jehovah's witnesses around the world june 30-september 8, 1963", 192 pages.. it appears to be a report on each of the conventions that were held around the world at that time.
a little wordy for modern taste, but there's lots of neato pictures.. hubby is borrowing it from a friend.
is this document available elsewhere or as a scan?

The last one in Pasadena at the Rose Bowl....8 days, super hot during the day and freezing at night (sessions until 9 pm). We skipped 2 days to do tourist stuff and never went out in the "preaching" work in the morning.
It was a grind for the adults but exciting for 3 kids who were in LA and seeing Disney, Marineland, swimming in a heated pool, discovering Mexican food, etc.
OMG blondie I was there too! Maybe you remember seeing me I felt like such a geek. 11ish, wore one shoe with my new dresses and one sandal as I had just been stung the day before the assembly by a stingray and got the nastiest infection walking around the stadium. Missed the last 2 days as my Dad made me stay home he didn't like the looks of the red streak going up my leg from my injury! LOL I felt so loved, most of the time I would have never known he cared, sigh.
Farkel OMG TMI!!
