What kind of atheist are you?

i'm not so sure about the jewish-christian borderline, but i love the nuance.. so which sentence suits you better?.

I believe that God does not exist, conclusively, intellectually speaking.. Now, let me qualify that statement.

When we attempt to understand matters of "existence" or the "soul" intellectually, we are spinning our wheels. Science, and logic simply confuse the issue. In fact they fly in the face of reality. Humankind has this overwhelming desire to "understand" all matters, when in fact, we are attempting to define an absolute, rather than experience something fluid and continuous. I personally think thought and effort are the origin of the struggle.

We were given intellect as a challenge. The challenge being, free will, logic and independence. With all these "attributes", we either "find" nothing, with regards to spiritualism, or "discover" our "self". Self awareness comes with complete effortless and emptiness of thought. I know that sounds contradictory, but it is the path toward understanding. I realize that understanding 2+2=4, requires logic. I realize the value of logic and intelligence in mankinds quest to build, design, cure, invent, discover, conquer, etc...etc. The problem we are experiencing, is we have lost the forrest for the tree. So, in essence, we are failing miserably.

I submit that a God does exist, and the success of our search lies in the peacefulness of silence, the calm of the breeze.....the coolness of the water, the warmth of the sun........and the depths of the soul.

Motorcycles are no good

this is a new topic so not to contradict myself (bigdeal), with garbage i posted in a previous thread, started by bean.

contrary to what valis posted vague opinion, i still believe that the motorcycle is a reinvented glorified (no merit) bycicle.. i also beleive that it was reinvented by (or ordered by ) a lazy, or semiparilitic son of bin oil magnate.. i tell you anyone who do that to the ozone deserve to be called anything you want.. .

i mean the ozone was just fine until they found out that the liquidblackgoldmilkshake was good business.. .

Motorcycles are also a way of life for some. Personally, I am one of them. Sorry for the extra ozone depletion I created with the 6500 miles I logged this summer, but, what's a scooter tramp to do?

Hi, new here, but thought I would insert a little opinion on the merger.

First, Sears, being weak, has been limited to the "mall" shopping crowd, of which once was the place to be. Now, stand alone mega stores are fining their niche, and Sears is limited to malls. Quality has been their strong point though, and brand name recognition will aid the new entity.

K-mart, has the real estate and the assets to make a difference for a company like sears, along with some financial performance improvements, and having come out of bankruptcy.

Both have unique exclusivity on some well known brands, of which can be sold in both types of stores.

Economically speaking, they had no choice but to find a good fit for each other, and merge, to enable them to compete with Wall Mart and Target. They were both being eaten alive by these giants.

Buying power (reduced costs), and a marketing approach focusing on capitalizing on the "NEW" brand ID, and merging the two corporate cultures (not an easy task)

If they find the synergies and make run it like a tight ship, and sell the sizzle correctly, it could actually be a very smart retailing strategy.

Ok..sorry to run on like that, but, the thread begged for opinion

Name is actually Gator. I am not nor was I ever a JW. I know several who were, and do understand some of the issues and such behind that religious "sect".

I have several friends who frequent this board, and thought I'd join and kick off my shoes. If being a high volume poster is a prerequisite, then I am in trouble! I do participate in things I am interested in though.

I have my fair share of stories and situations, and may have some good input from time to time.
