Wow woofer .. come to think of it my wife was baptised at 12.
UB - are you married?!?!?!
i believe we were taught that jesus was around thirty years old when he was baptized.
now i was always told that the bible mentioned specific things like times and dates for a reason .as a guide for us to follow.
so by telling us his age this would seem to be very important for us .

hello again from sunny north carolina!!!.
our state lotto started today, and i won 15 dollars, and only bought 1 $1 card.
so whoop whoop for gambling.. i was in miami florida last week for the photoshop world conference, but i also got to tour the everglades, where i took some beautiful pictures.
I am worried. Richie, look down the long length of this path...what happens if you get kicked out of the house and DFed? Seriously look at your situation. Do you have a back up plan that could go into effect tomorrow if need be? I'm asking because your face being here is GOING to do that. Not a matter of IF, but a matter of WHEN. And if you aren't prepared for it, it will cause you a lot of misery. I don't say it to be bitchy at you. But I was suddenly kicked out of my parents home at 19 and it was harder than hell to get onto my feet again. I'm just saying to please be prepared for consequences by a group of people that do NOT play fair. ((((((Richie)))))))
Lots of people keep mentioning the fact that yoru pic is on here and you could get busted but I think you know that for you to be busted for being here then they'd need at least 2 witnesses to the fact and those two witnesses would be DFed for being here anyway - so you have a safety net.
Crumpet,
You must surely know by now that with the JWs, these are not rules they play with. They've DFed people on gossip of something someone else said. They don't play by the rules. There is NO safety net! Not fussing at you personally, but sometimes we expect these IRrational people to play rationally. They don't.

I feel that that baptism should be null and void. All these kids dedicating their lives to something at such a young age is crazy. This is supposed to be the most important dedication in your whole life and they let kids make that choice???? If your 9 year old says "mom I really feel that I want to get married" do you say "Oh ok honey you're old enough to make that decision "HECK NO!" Yet we allow them to contract the rest of their life out to an organization that will shun them if they do wrong now that they are baptized.
I completely agree with you! I was baptized at 16 and really when I look back, it was only to make my father happy with me. And it worked. After several years of rebellion, I had never seen my father's chest stick out so far or his eyes look at me so lovingly. But it was one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made in my life.
But then again, I think everything happens for a reason and my life today is truly better than I ever thought it would be.
Why so young?
Because it's easier to control them when they're young.
Why can't witnesses just wait like Jesus did?
Because ultimately, this organization isn't about Jesus. It's about control.

were you able to fulfill or remove that need in some way?
did fulfilling that need make it possible or easier for you to exit the wt?

It gets better. I promise.

Please continue telling your stories men. Please.
shining one just did a thread on an article that supposedly shows the bible was not fabricated.
i didn't want to hijack his thread, so i started this one.. .
i'm getting old, i guess, and maybe alzheimer's is starting in, but i have lost my vision, my understanding, my assurity if you will.
I hope my children love me. I hope they have lots of good feelings for me. I'm really happy when they call me. (My 17 year old musician just called while I was typing this) When they remember all the things I did for them, it makes me happy. When they show me that they appreciate me being their mom, it makes my heart burst with joy. I only have good thoughts for my children...oh wait God said something like that too...for God so loved the world......sometimes religion has misrepresented Gods love for us. The WTBTS did.
This is my belief. That if we have a healthy relationship with God (like Kate mentions above) then we WANT to worship Him. Just like my marriage to Neil, I take the good and the bad. And yes, sometimes there are times of drought in my relationship with God - where I just don't feel close to Him. I am just now crawling out of a period like that over the last couple months. It is difficult. But just like going through a rough period with your spouse, you come out on the other side stronger and yes, happier. I do believe that the WTS has painted a very BAD picture of who God is. I believe He is in Heaven cringing at how many people look at Him, because it's not Truth. And I do believe that someday He will present that Truth to those that have an incorrect vision of who He is.

church leader who bilked elderly woman up for parole.
by vera haffey - the montana standard - 03/30/06.
You know if this hadn't been "the biggest theft in Montana history" and made all the papers, this guy would probably be a CO by now. JWs aren't worried about someone sinning, they are more worried about someone making their organization look bad. Only when news like that hits the papers, do they feel forced to take action.
is living a good life..... i'm not sure who said it, but is it ever so true.
the jws think that once we leave the "protection" of the wts, we are doomed to wander through life aimlessly and without purpose.
and, maybe i did that for a little while.. but, i have been on a mission to take my life back from those rotten sobs.
Congratulations Country Guy!
I do agree that living well is the best revenge. But sometimes people don't realize that "living well" sometimes is a CHOICE to be made, not just something that happens. I've been out for almost 16 years and that's something I still have to remember. When I get down about some of the curve balls that Life throws me, I have to remember to MAKE A CHOICE to live well. No matter what comes at me, that joy from within is different than happiness created by my circumstances. Personally, it all comes from FAITH - knowing that things will somehow be better than I ever imagined, if I just MAKE THE CHOICE to walk through the desert first.

I grew up in it, so like Crumpy, I didn't really know better. But I remember asking my father a similar question as he got baptized when he was about 30. His answer to me was "They knew the bible so well and had an answer for ANYTHING I asked." I remember being satisfied with that answer, but then again, I was a teenager pioneering at the time too.
Today when I reflect on what he said, I think, "Where's the need for faith when someone has all the answers?" But then I remember this religion isn't about faith, it's about works.
the co has said in his latest talks "some have lost their sense of urgency and the organization is worried about it" .
even in the apostles day there was a a sense of urgency
and he finished up by saying "That is why we have gone through the Daniel book again - because some have lost their sense of urgency"So let me get this straight. The CO believes that the solution to people "losing their sense of urgency" is to bore them to tears?
*giggle* Large corporations thinks it works for their sales organizations. Why not???
