Does anyone watch this show? Last night's rerun had a couple guys dressed up as Mormon's = but they came up to the cops asking, "Would you like to hear the good news of Jehovah?" When the cops said no, another one came from across the street and put the guy in a headlock and started beating him up. The others stood there and tried to keep preaching. LOL!

MAJOR red meat eater here. LOVE steaks. Like Megadude, I don't care to have marinades or rubs all the time. I like to taste the flavor of the meat itself. It's kind of like enjoying the natural masculine smell of a sexy man. Too much cologne can be a turn off.
I look at my steaks the same way. Toss a little salt and pepper on mine and I'm good to go. Au naturale.

Whats the worst dish you ever served???
by Tez ini am a reasonable cook when i can be bothered (as paulj will hopefully confirm) but often resort to quick and easy methods, packet mixes, tins etc.. whereas my parner is a brilliant cook!!
leave him in the kitchen for a little while and he produces something from scratch that is delicious.
so today i decided to extend my culinary skills!

My friends and I have a themed potluck about once a month. We pick a country/region and everyone brings something from that area. The worst dish I've ever served was from Africa. It was Avocado soup...served cold. I think that about sums it up.
Kaethra, I have a few friends that do this with us as well. Except it's a wine dinner and we rotate the homes it's hosted in. Everyone brings a bottle of wine (MUST be under $25!) and a dish or two that compliments it. Sometimes we focus on reds, whites, Cabernets, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blancs, growing regions, etc. You must come to the dinner with some education of whatever bottle you bring. We get to taste several different types of wine and enjoy each others cooking. It's very relaxed, casual. But the point is to educate each other and have fun doing it! Which reminds me, now that school is in session again, it's time to bring back the wine dinners!

Sphere and BG - how to make sure no one comes to dinner again! though must say bg when you finally got it right sounds delicious.
It was delicious! Actually, I'm a really good cook as is my husband. We love entertaining friends with new dishes we've either found a recipe for or created on our own. We're not really the type to follow a recipe to the letter. We throw a little of this in, a little of that...this sounds good with it, so let's add a dollop of this. It usually ends up being very nice. I was just thrown a bit in that house as it wasn't our kitchen.
I'm one of the few hostesses that's not too scared to "guinea pig" with my guests. If all else fails, we have a good laugh while we order take out Chinese. If they're good friends, they enjoy the "entertainment" I provide. LOL!

Does a High State of Anxiety...mean you're "spiritual"?...
by upside/down inas a dub i remember everyone in a constant state of high-anxiety...the sky is falling!
(till they were overcome with some syndrome or depression brought on by this unhealthy debilitating mindset).
as if that made you worthy of surviving the big a...if and when it came.. if you just lived your life...without anxiety...and the big a arrived...you just "couldn't be worthy".... why?

I don't remember ever reading in the Bible...that I was to be in a constant debilitating state of fear...but rather happy EXPECTATION!
That's a great point!

Eeks! Good luck at the family gathering later. I remember you talking about them on the other thread. Be kind and firm. No matter what, any person with a right mind will see you taking the high road...even if you don't feel like doing it.

Are you a "here I am" or a "there you are"?
by Mulan ina friend of mine read a book about 30 years ago, that said people are basically categorized into two main types.
here's how you define yourself:.
when you walk into a room full of people, do you think to yourself "here i am" or do you say "there you are".. i am definitely a "there you are".

That reminds me of a T shirt Dave has. It says "Just pretend I'm not here. That's what I'm doing". He usually avoids get togethers where he doesn't know everyone. Even then, he is a bit uncomfortable. I think he would be happy for life, with just me and a visit from the kids and their families from time to time.
That's a bit like Mozz. I have to say though that since we got married, he's gotten a LOT better. He's more comfortable with himself, which makes him more comfortable around strangers. I'm not shy, so I just taught him that if he feels an awkward silence in a conversation to ask questions. People love to talk about themselves. Ask about their job (What do you do?) ask about their spouse (Where did you and Marilyn meet?) ask about their kids (Which one just did the triathalon?) - he's gotten alot more comfy just by doing that. It works like a charm, I swear!

Welcome biteme! Love the name by the way.
I was in Missouri for awhile as well. Bowling Green congregation on the East side of the state when I was a very small child. Had some friends there that moved to Paragould, AR. Don't know what congregation, but they were the Hancock family.

I think your response is great! Polite, loving, and kind. I can't see how she would ever take offense to anything you say. I don't agree with Gary Buss in this instant. I think sometimes honey gets you a lot further than vinegar. Sometimes, no matter how condescending they are, take the high road and be nice no matter what. They absolutely can NOT pin you down and say you're being rude or "apostate"ish.
