as has been demonstrated on this forum, the only two positions regarding religion which are logically consistent are fundamentalism and unbelief (whether of the atheist or agnostic variety).
an in-between position, though some of us would like to hold it, is not logically persuasive.
yet, that is exactly the situation which is produced in mainline (or "liberal") seminaries today.
But the seminaries are supposed to be turning out a product - ordained ministers and priests.

Just curious...what makes you think this? I have a few friends that have and are going to seminary for their spiritual education and edification - no plans to take it further in terms of a formal ministry.

i've often enjoyed the 3rd article in this watchtower series on propaganda.
it's so amazing that the watchtower could print it, warning about avoiding being the victim of propaganda.
all of their descriptions of it fit the meetings, mags, assemblies to the proverbial "t".
Many journalists, judges, and others have commented on the positive contributions that Jehovah's Witnesses have made to the communities in which they live. Consider some examples. After attending a convention of Jehovah's Witnesses, a reporter from southern Europe commented: "These are people with strong family ties, they are taught to love and to live by their conscience so as not to harm others."Another journalist, formerly negative about the Witnesses, stated: "They live an exemplary life. They do not violate the standards of what is moral and right." A political scientist similarly remarked about the Witnesses: "They behave toward other people with profound kindness, love and gentleness."
This is one of my biggest peeves about the WTS. Why don't they quote their sources first and last names. That way, they can get some leverage with whom they're quoting. My guess is there is someone somewhere in the writing department making this crap up. I honestly cannot think of one person that really has ANYTHING good to say about JWs. If they don't hate them, they find them a nuisance for sure.

There are too many of us here that have seen the opposite of good happen in situations like yours. I am assuming both of you are fairly young? If you get married, you will see that your road WILL DEFINITELY be filled with bumps. The question is, is it worth it?

hubby had a loud confrontation with the elders last week.

First of all, welcome to the forum!
Second of all, I agree wholeheartedly with your post! I should really be more thankful than anything, as comments like the above only confirm to me that JWs could NOT be God's chosen people. God's chosen elite would never be that unloving. It was the reason I left in the first place and it is the reason I stay away. Thank you for reminding me of that!
