what moves your soul and/or inspires you to the point of complete happiness?.

i had the pleasure of meeting a young man at a party, he was so into the music...it was amazing watching him.

Water - gallons of it to drink, to swim in, to reflect upon, whether it comes as snow, rain or a lovers sweat, in an aquarium or a turbulent ocean, or crackling segments of ice in my drink

Chicken - mainly the skin - spiced, salted, crispy

Mushrooms - just the regular kind are magic enough for me - texture of oysters, musky flavour

Alice Hoffman - Skylight Confessions, The River King, Blue Diary

Horror movies - no matter how bad

Marmite (the main thing I miss from the UK!)

BBC America - without which I would have forgotten my British accent, Gordon Ramsay

Mountains - knee trembling to look at and lay sole upon, but reassuringly permanent

My parents are going to meet with me!

it was two years and two months ago when i told my mother that i no longer recognize the wts religion as being "the truth.

" as you may know, to a jw mother, this is like telling her you've decided to jump off a skyscraper.

i have spoken to her only two times since then, and have not seen her or my dad since then.

Shelley you completely hit the nail on the head with this. I think its even hard for us to recognise and accept unconditional love for a long time after we leave, let alone be able to extend it. I'm only just learning, but its a happy lesson.

I think your reaction is an incredibly hard one to give, but you've weighed up the probable response from him if you tried to dissuade or criticise him and you know that he would see this as opposition from Satan etc and only reinforce his decision.

The most important thing he has on his side is someone who knows the drill, has measured their response to cover all eventualities and left the door open to help him be a little more critical in the future when he is less inclined to follow the herd. And also that he has you on his side, when he starts to see the shadows of the religion for himself he knows that he has someone he can confide in and trust.

I know how hard that conversation was. I could never have done it myself - I get too impassioned, but you are calm, approachable and probably his best chance for a real future. By not opposing him or criticising him you have remembered he is just a child, under a lot of pressure already and he will remember that you are open minded and that you put him before your personal feelings and are very sensitive.

anybody who has been "disciplined" in the organization, then made a sincere effort to return, knows that the punishment continues long after the elders have said you're reinstated.

listen to these recent comments by someone still "in", and reflect on how cannabilistic sheep can be.. i got pregnant at 16, and was reproved.

i was very sorry and nine months later the the results of my sin was showing very much so.

I was in favour of it, have attempted it (mainly for practical reasons) and it just results in hurt on both sides. Besides I don't want to share myself with anyone else or my partner to share himself.

The only ones I can spot that I haven't already engaged in are misfiling tax returns, adultery, abortion and spanking my child. So I guess America would consider me a sinner then.

Its interesting that things like drink driving, child molesting, polygamy, fraudulently extracting money from the elderly and vulnerable, knowingly transmitting sexual diseases etc arent considered sins....

here is where i cry and feel pity for myself: .

i'm terrible at keeping up with my friends.

i don't call them often enough, or i make an effort in the beginning and then i let it slide.

The internet my dear! Facebook, Myspace, MSN, email - that way you can send a message to your friends when you are thinking of them, keep in touch and not have to be too extroverty. I love the net for that, especially since my friends live minimum of an hour away and many of them live here in the States - thousands of miles away when I am at home. And for those not on line a good old fashioned letter never goes amiss.
