Were you ever ashamed of another JW?
by JH in.
in the field service, i was going door to door with an elder, and he couldn't stop spitting on the ground every now and then..... .
once at a ball park, i saw a 75 year old ms watching a ball game, and he took napkins to wipe his bench because it rained and it was wet, so he wipped his bench and threw all the napkins on the grass instead of walking to the garbage can about 30 feet away...

once in service, me and partner went to door carrying newspaper that was left on sidewalk to householder. the brother gave him the newspaper and started his sermon. the householder rudely told us he wasnt interested. as we walked away, the brother said to me "see if i bring him his paper again". the paper then hit him in the back of his head. i think the householder heard him.
have you seen some of the clothes some brothers wear?!? plaid polyester suits from the 1960's, pants too short, ties too skinny/wide, collars 3 inches long on shirts! i dont think some brothers have bought new dress clothes in years. i could tell you about the 300+ pound brother who pulled his pants up so high that his entire "package" wass shoved to the left or right. my 8 year old relative asked me what that was!

Complete ban on smoking in public places just passed in England
by ballistic infrom summer after next, smoking will be banned in any public place including pubs and clubs in england.. although i plan on giving up again, i still don't agree with government interfering like this.
they had previously.
made proposals for some pubs to remain licensed for smoking which i thought would have been a workable compromise.

thanx for the responses. specifically:
scully and coffee_black: i am starting to agree with your thinking about whether an organization has to be a go-between you and god. i thought that was jesus' job
honesty: i will consider your questions and thanx for the pm
star moore: yes, they(WTS) are way too bossy
carmel: i do try to think outside the box. maybe i dont go far enough. good points
seesthesky: i just went to the liquor store and bought some woodford reserve whiskey, mmmm, mmmm.
undercover: well put. i may just do that.
sheri: i agree with almost every word you say.
Check_Your_Premises: all of your questions are valid. i wont answer them but, i did/do research outside the WTS publications. i know what they say, ive been a jw for 30 years. i spent many hours at barnes & nobles and the library reading. i probably dont go into as much depth as some here, but i try.. good point about the unknown unknowns. i never thought about that. your question that, loosely translated, if you found out the WTS theology was wrong, would you want to know it, stopped me in my tracks. i really need to think about that. i fell like i would, but then what would i do? i already know some things are wrong. i still remain a witness. i also know, or feel that something is probably wrong in any religion. can i live with that? that appears to be the next question
thanx

1 Peter 3:15 - Why doesn't the WTS address it.?
by Gregor in1 peter 3: 14-15-16. read all three verses to frame the context of vs. 15 " ...be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.
hey, i'm no fred franz but this scripture seems pretty easy to understand.
peter starts this letter by reminding everyone of all the fantastic things that this new born faith was promising, the return of christ, redemption for all, etc.

i asked a witness once why should we (im still one) be afraid of "apostate" literature. if we have the "truth", wont it stand on its own? wouldnt the ability to scripurally destroy apostate literature build up your faith? im still waiting for an answer from him.

thanx for the replys. honesty , i did not mean that you approve of warfare, im sorry if it sounded that way. i only refered to you by name because you are very vocal about being a christian. the question really should have been how could anyone claiming to be a christian would/could join a religion that supported warfare. unforunately, in my experience, most in america do. i dont, and one reason i remain a witness is because they dont.
further, i dont really think that their is one true religion. one thing the WTS has said that is very true: religion is a snare and a racket. religion, not spirituality. the problem is, most people, myself included, feel more comfortable expressing spirituality thru a religion. so there is the dilemma for me. the WTS, whom i respect for some things and dont for others, or another religion, that i may respect for some things and not others. therefore, with that dilemma, and family and friends in the org., i stay. hence my question. damned if i do, damned if i dont.
thax for the replys. your thoughs mean a lot. and again honesty, i sincerely apologize if i offended you.
have a nice day,
peace

i have a rather lengthy question/statement, so please bear with me. i would like to apologize in advance if i offend anyone with this post. i dont mean to judge anyone here. you all, for the most part, seem to be sincere and intelligent people, and ive learned much from all.
my background may explain my position. ive been a jw all my life, baptized for nearly 30 years. im in my 40s now.my father was p/o and pioneer til his death several years ago(the anniversary of which is this week), my mom is a reg. pioneer. almost all of my immediate family are strong witnesses. i have virually no friends that arent witnesses. i am a cousin of undecideds on this forum. we were at the same funeral he posted about this weekend. we bacame reaquainted thru this forum. he is as nice as you all think he is.
during the funeral, the brother(who did a fine job with the discourse), made the statement, regarding staying close to jehovahs org., found at john 6:68, which peter asks: "lord, whom shall we go away to? you have sayings of everlasting life?" it made me think. i dont agree with everything that comes out of brooklyn. many things we teach as truth are speculative at best. i have done some research(not as much as some of you), most outside the orgs. literature. i have decided that many doctrinal pionts are correct, such as hellfire, trinity, etc. im not going to expalin why here, but thats my conclusion. i do question the idea of FDS class, some issues with blood, the extent of d'fing. i do agree wholeheartedly with neutrality regarding warfare. my question is to some, such as honesty, who have joined other churches, is how can you justify christian involvement in war, esp. in light of jesus' word at matt26:52: "those who take the sword, perish by the sword"?
i can understand leaving the WTS if ine objects to their teachings. but to join in another religion seems to be changin one poison for another.
again, i mean no offense. many of you who have joined other churches, i admire your posts and continue to learn from them
im not going to respond to any replys right now. im going to the book study out of the "speculate on daniels prophecy" book, then im going to watch jack bauer kick some ass on 24. then i'll log on again. thanks for your responses, if there are any.
