Dear Dad

i wrote this letter to my dad.

i'm not going to send it, but wanted to share it with people who i know will understand it.. .

The original 'Lee Elder' thinks she went back because of her JW daughter and other family. She had tried to re-associate some years ago, but came back saying she just could not stomach the baloney.
She requested to be removed from the AJWRB mailing list last year because she was now a "JW in good standing." (I'm not on their mailing list either since the forum has been revamped with a new admin.)

It always occurrs to me when the WTS makes statements about wanting to "keep the organization clean" by disfellowshipping people. If they really wanted to keep the organization clean, they would abolish the shunning policy. They probably suspect it would cause a mass exodus. :-)

i'm just wondering what the whole apostate propaganda is all about?.

do you think you can do some sort of justice to the wt for the pains they have caused you?, what actualy are your motives?.

i dont get it.

Stop the unscriptural shunning, breaking up families for disagreement with the WT flawed teachings, and stop failing to report crimes committed by JWs, and the exJW community will probably stop opposing your religion.

I had forgotten about that WorldCrossing forum. (That was the best threaded program I've come across--wish I could buy it. It's not available now.)

At that time WorldCrossing offered free forums, and I set up XJW-Christians for Libby and her friends on Channel C who wanted to discuss Christian evangelical religion. They were trying to dominate my forum with it, seemingly to be proselytizing for fundamentalist faith (which I'm not). It came to be bickering on Channel C with other participants losing interest, so I created that forum for Libby and transferred them over. :-) It went pretty well for quite a while. Libby was kind of the moderator and I just poked my head in now and then (kind of like I am on this forum). I was surprised to learn that Libby had returned to the WT.
Another surprise who returned to the WT (whom you may not know) was 'Wanda' who was prominent in developing the AJWRB original forum.

I think it's the shunning weapon that gets them.

The interesting thing is that the Watchtower is making the claim that the information between the accused and the elders is "privilaged" under law, even when crime is discovered and there is no privileged 'confession' for confidentiality. The fact is that even in the case of confession and seeming repentence, the elders should instruct the criminals to turn themselves in to the authorities. That is what would demonstrate possible repentence.

What the WT lawyers also seem to ignore in their defense is that the rank-and-file members are often instructed to not report crimes to civil authorities, in some cases on threat of being excommunicated. The Watchtower covertly promotes the concept that every loyal member of Jehovah's Witnesses is obliged to not report crime--so as to "not bring reproach upon Jehovah's Name."

I hope this argument is what will lend weight to the defense in these cases. It may be hard to prove without being a written-stated policy, except to the elders, but perhaps some members so-instructed will come forward. That policy of covering up crime has needed to be changed for decades.

so when jesus resctd him why did he die again?

when jesus brought him back did he creat or recreat an imperfect being on the sinful road to destruction?

You might have the question about people who die on the operating table and or brought back to life, or who are revived by cardiopulminory resuscitation or other "near-death" experiences.

I used to host some private e-mail lists in the 1990s (Sub-Rosa Room, Beacon Room, and Concord Room). Each 'room' had a different focus.

I presently still host Channel C forum (www.channelc.org). It almost closed down a few years ago, but I kept it going with just a few friends because those domains were being bought up by porners when they became available. It's not a busy forum, never has been, and I thought it would die by now, but it keeps chatting. Were you on Channel C?

Two other websites that are still online, but they are so neglected for years now: xjw.com and christianquest.org.
Xjw.com must be one of the longest running exJW websites by now (1996)--almost as long as Randy's Free Minds. (The xjw domain acronym should be a clue of how long ago it's been.)

I missed the wedding because it was supposed to be in the KH. Our communication was somewhat on the QT (obviously). I went to the KH and a lady cleaning the hall told me the plans were changed. So I just went over to the reception. Some of the people there kind of questioned me a little bit--seeming curious as to why they didn't know me. It seems longer ago than 9 years. I think I read it on another forum that you had moved.

I think you might have contacted me through xjw.com and we were both surpised we were in the same town. Had to meet. :-)

Child Abuse Case in Oakland -- Does anyone have a simple summary

i know i'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer ... but i have read a lot of details but still don't have the facts in my mind about the case so when i'm talking to other jw's at the kh that i can at least sound authoritative.. in a paragraph or two (or three), is there somewhere that lists the events, even from a jw perspective, on what actually occurred and when.. something like: "the accused was an elder (or whatever) in the abc congregation from 19xx through 19xx.

he had been convicted of another offense in 20xx.

during that time, due to the 'two-witness' policy (or whatever), the information was never released to the congregation in general.
