i don't get the day differeance.
what's the obscure referance the wt uses to set the memorial a day late?.
BA:
Now you have me confused (well not really). I've been calculating it and comparing it to WTism for many years.
Jews always observe Passover on Nisan 14/15. It just happened to fall on Monday with sundown ushering in the 15th (Passover) this particualr year.
i don't get the day differeance.

TD:
The problem this year is (unless I'm really missing something) they are celebrating a day late rather than a day early. They're actually observing it on Nisan 16. Nisan 1 (new moon) was March 11. Eleven plus 14 is 26). They observing the 15th day which is the 16th after sundown.
They've always been a day early. I'm baffled as to why this year they calculate it a day later than Passover when all calendars show the new moon was March 11. I kind of understood the day early--even though I realized their miscalculation for the 13th day. But this day late calculation has me baffled.
theres a clear difference between prophecies (predictions of future events) and laws(stuff you should and shouldnt do).. now since xians always says jesus fullfilled the law, how does one fullfill a bunch of requirements like dont murder, dont worship idols, shave your beard like this etc.. there are 613 laws in the torah, jewish rabbis have done all the hard work and we have a nice list on wiki.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/613_mitzvot.
im confused which of those some how select a unique individual to be the unique messiah ?
then again there were many messiahs, every king and priest of israel and judea was a messiah.
mP:
May I try . . .
It's my opinion that Jesus fulfilled the LAW not prophecies.
John 1:29:
29 The next day he *saw Jesus coming to him and *said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
In Jewish Law, the slaughter of lambs on Passover was for the sins of Israel. That is why John would refer to Jesus as the "Lamb of God".
According to Jewish LAW, Passover the lambs were to be slaughtered at twilight on Nisan 14 and eaten that night (beginning of Nisan 15).
In Jesus day, the Temple Jews observed after sundown of the day Nisan 14, i.e., Passover on Nisan 15. (LAW ref: Exodus 12:5-11)
The first lamb was slaughtered by the High Priest at the 9th hour (approximately 3 pm, twightlight in Israel) for the sins of Israel. That year, Passover occurred after sundown on Friday (which made it Saturday on their calendar) and made it a special Passover that fell on the Sabbath.
Jesus was arrested on Thursday, impaled on Friday and died at the 9th hour when the first lamb was being slaughtered in the Temple for Passover.
Jesus fulfilled Passover.
The Death of JesusMatt 27:45-56 (Also: Mk 15:33-41; Lk 23:44-49; Jn 19:29-30)
45 From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land. 46 About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, ""Eloi, Eloi," "lama" "sabachthani?"" --which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" .... 50 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.
Jesus fulfilled the Passover lamb sacrifice.
Also being the heir to the throne of David (Ps. 22:2: "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me.")
In the LAW, in Leviticus 23, Passover occurs on Nisan 14/15 which may fall on any day of the week, Sunday-through Saturday.
Following Passover, regardless of what day of the week it falls on, the Festival of First Fruits occurs on the day AFTER the following Sabbath, or on the following Sunday (first day of the week.) This began the "Festival of Weeks that began the counting of 50 days to Pentecost.
Therefore, Jesus died on Friday when the first lamb was slaughtered for Passover, and he rose on the day of the Festival of First Fruits (a point that the Gospel writers did not realize its significance, but is gleened from studying the LAW in the OT). Paul later realized the significance.
Jesus fulfilled the LAW Festival of First Fruits.
The Spirit was poured out on Pentecost (Festival of Weeks which began with counting from the Festival of First Fruits).
Jesus fulfilled the LAW of the Festival of Weeks. (Acts 2)
Tradition in Jesus day held that the first Pentecost was when Moses came down off Sinai with the two stone tablets and found the Israelites worshipping a golden calf. Outraged, he threw down the stone tablets and ordered the Levites to slaughter the idolators. "About three thousand of the people fell on that day. (3000 were killed, Exodus 32:28)
At Acts 2:41 it says: "So those who welcomed his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand persons were added.
So on the first Pentecost, 3000 were killed for idolatry, on the last Pentecost 3000 were given life.
Paul later said the LAW kills but the Spirit gives life.
Jesus fulfilled Pentecost LAW.

That only those who reign in heaven with Christ for the "thousand years" are resurrected and alive during the "thousand years".
All others are not resurrected during the "thousand years", on Earth or anywhere else.
Rev. 20:4-5, (also verses 7-15 for more detail).
Even from a literal scripture interpretation, there is no New Earth until after death is destroyed, after the end of the "thousand years".
Rev. 21:1-4: "THEN I saw . . ."
The WT's whole doctrine of Paradise on Earth, and Armageddon survivors cultivating it back to Paradise and resurrections during the "thousand years" is without scriptural basis. It's amazing no one notices that, yet I've never met a JW who could defend it from years past. The best they try to do is ask: "Who are the 144000 reigning over during the thousand years?" That's not an answer.
during the last three to four months, i have spent a great deal of time sinking my teeth into various critical biblical commentaries and lexicons.
naturally, after beginning to research "the truth about the truth" one of the most commonplace yet controversial arguments revolve around the "gentile times" doctrine (i.e.
the application of the seven times of daniel 4 from 607 b.c.e.
I debated with this guy as "ThirdWitness" some years ago on the surviving H2O forum (which by then was mainly JWs) under my old moniker "Ros." I refuted his chronology arguments straight from scripture, and he ignored those points while trying to flood the discussion with so much that it would take hours and hours and hours to respond to one of his posts, so long that most would not bother to read it. That's his technique for claiming to win the debate.
I maintained then and now: You do not change a person's mind by proving them wrong.
Debating with JWs or any other ideology a person has committed to "belief" (including Christian or atheism) is a waste of valuable time imo.
In this guy's case, the shear volume of stuff he puts out there in a single post for you to refute is your first clue. But . . . he get's to claim a lot of time in the service. :-)

why don't established religions care about ron wyatt's archaelogical findings confirming the bible?
what does that reveal about them?
have you any idea?.
A more reliable archeologist--in my opinion--is (was) the late Bargil Pixner. Also, the CenturyOne Foundation has a pretty good archeological section at this link:

i found this mother's letter to be an eye opener--.
written by liza long, republished from the blue review.
friday's horrific national tragedy -- the murder of 20 children and six adults at sandy hook elementary school in newtown, connecticut -- has ignited a new discussion on violence in america.
I was home from work for a few days fighting a cold. I tried to find something interesting to watch on television. EVERYTHING I found that was not a comedy was about violence, guns, killing (the bad guys), solving murder. It's like this country is obsessed with murder.
And then there are the video games . . . and on and on . . .
Why are we so clueless?
