"The Society was not wrong about 1914 and it will not be wrong about 1975."
Yes, this may well be a perspective thing. Maybe the world did end in 1914 and in 1975, but we're all just too proud to have noticed it. I will try to humble myself and, in a humbled state of heart, join in with the dedicated throngs as we fill the earth with peace and love. I'm due for my medication about now...

Given the rather joyless and stressful existence of those who inhabit the kingdom halls, perhaps Sutcliffe "deserves" the Watchtower lifestyle.

More people die by accepting blood thatn by refucing it,that is a fact.
Where is the reference for this assertion? Sounds like more propaganda to me Hospitals use transfusions on a daily basis and I am aware of no statistics that support the assertion that more people die by accepting transfusions. Certainly, if the assertion were true, not only would the supportive statistics be at your fingertips, but there would be a public outcry.

Sutcliffe, if released, won't bother knocking. He'll do his ministry in the street, waiting for you in the alleyway. Be warned: there'll be no return visits...Mwa hahhahahahah....

Ah, the good old "geographical cure". Extreme, yes; but undoubtedly one of the more effective ways to fade.

Most, if not all, medical interventions have risk elements. That doesn't make them unscriptural. It's a matter of intelligently weighing up the pros and cons and making a decision.
When trying to make the "right" decision for oneself, it does not help to have heavy-handed pressure from one's religious associates. For example, autologous blood transfusions are very safe. I am aware of no medical problems with them, given that normal hospital practices are followed (as with all interventions). Yet, JWs will not accept them due to Watchtower rules.

They said that perhaps God is keeping the door open a little longer out of his great mercy (soft peddle their failing prophecy) .
Yes, I remember hearing that at a convention. What puzzled me then was that, by that time, there was a perceptible slowing down among the JWs in New Zealand. I couldn't understand why Jehovah would keep the door open longer to allow more people in, whilst others were slipping out the back door. It just sounded like special pleading. Looking back, it is all so clear: They encouraged belief in a totally false prophecy and then lied that they had ever made that prophecy.

it's amazing that he still needs the approval of the WTS even though i have expressed to him that i feel that i am approved by God.
We all know JWs who fit your dad's description. They seem to be more flexible than the average JW. To me, it's like your dad wants you back for impression management purposes. I see nothing wrong with this. Groing numbers of JWs are like this: Trying to manage the demands of a very rigid belief system whilst trying to attend to their normal, everyday cares and family connections. Unfortunately, the JWs are a religion that thrives more on not so much what members do, but on what they're seen to do by others. I like the idea of going back for your father and then begining a nice long fade from the religion but having resumed a more open relationship with your dad.

And then, post 1975? A JW baby-boom.
Yes, all that pent-up energy had to go somewhere!! It is telling that, even given the baby-boom, the other post1975 development was the big exodus: Large numbers of new ones who had come into the religion in the imediate years before 1975 faded away - okay, a few went out with a big bang.
Get this: A local couple were "rushed" into the religion just before 1975. They were baptised at the district assembly in 1974. The woman was heavily pregnant at the time. They named their son Justin (no kidding!) because the atmosphere was charged with a sense that they were "just in" time before the great tribulation struck the earth. They drifted away from the religion post 1975. No one was surprised, given the urgent manner in whgich they were whisked into the kingdom hall. Meanwhile their son - wherever he is - is over thirty years old and has a name that delightfully preserves - at least for his parents - their youthful susceptibility to the teachings of a few arrogant crackpots in New York city.
