Posting Here: secretly or openly?
by AllAlongTheWatchtower injust curious, how many of you have to hide the fact that you post here from family?
i'm especially thinking of those with spouses who are in, while they themselves either never were, faded, dfed/daed, etc but if you are a child hiding it from parents, that applies too.
if you are posting secretly, how secretive do you have to be?

OPEN! No family or (real) friends are jw's.

How Do You Handle Compliments?
by smellsgood intoday i was followed around, complimented extensively and asked out by a guy at wal-mart (they have good prices on cake),,,i sort of felt like bolting, i felt extremely embarassed (and said as much) even though i was flattered.
it's nice to be complimented, at the same time i'm all giggly and squirmy,,, like they're telling me that i've got a head shaped like a walnut rather than...whatever.
do you take compliments well?

I smile and say thank you. I realize people don't have to give them, and they are always appreciated!

What birthday age depressed you the most?
by FreedomFrog inmy birthday is coming up in a month.
i'm 35 and i'm so depressed about turning 36. i've heard people really get down when they were turning 25, 30, and other ages but non of my birthday's bothered me this much until now.
turning 36 is so depressing and i think it's because here i am single again trying to now start my career, my credit, my whole life over.

My b-day is months away, but approaching the last year of my
20's90's is already starting to get a wee bit depressing because I won't have a degree by then. At the same time, that's only temporary, and will happen in time. You won't go through another decade degree-less if you keep at it.

Common abbreviations used here
by Lady Lee inwe use so many abbreviations here that i thought a list might help people who are unaware of their meanings (not everyone here is or was a jw).
some are related to internet use and some are specific to jws.
so feel free to add to the list.. jwd = this website = jehovahs-witness-discussion.

Life lost
by Phil ini have previously posted on the subject of finding people who could help me get some testimonials from experienced jws who have been shunned by friends and family.
this was my way of getting my daughter to wake up to the realities of what is going on with the organization she is associated with.
much to my sadness, i have been notified by her husband that she died this morning of lung cancer.

A call from the GRAVE!
by ButtLight inok, since others are posting "boo" threads, i will too.
would you bury a loved one with a cell phone?.
i was watching sylvia browne yesterday.

Hi Buttlight!
Did they watch the mom get cremated? Did they watch her ashes AND the phone get buried?
The company won't have record of the phone call if it wasn't a billable call. Customer service will say there's no record, but they cannot see things that people who work in network can see. The call is in the system before the phone rings. I think her phone is in someone's living hands and not her dead ashes.

JW dies refusing blood after Caesarean

How sad!!!
That victim thought she was doing the right thing by not taking a blood tranfusion, in a Caesarean birth at that. You are cut open and do bleed. I lived through two of them (not a complicated surgery to me, just making a point). It is simply a disgrace that life coming into the world has to be abandoned from its life source, the mommy. Her precious life was not worth it. It is truly not worth the b.s. reinforcement stories that will be told to the followers and new students, encouraging them to listen to counsel via a "she stayed faithful to Jehovah" guilt trip!
Do you know what I was told when I was about to pop my daughter out via c-section? JW stepmom: "DON'T accept any blood!" I wasn't even studying then!!!!!
