Dateline predators will NOT be prosecuted
by candidlynuts intexas da won't prosecute any pedophiles nabbed in nbc 'predator' showthursday, june 28, 2007. .
murphy, texas a sting in which police teamed up with "dateline nbc" to catch online pedophiles was supposed to send a flinty-eyed, texas-style warning about this dallas suburb: don't mess with murphy.. instead, it has turned into a fiasco.. one of the 25 men caught in the sting a prosecutor from a neighboring county committed suicide when police came to arrest him.
the murphy city manager who approved the operation lost his job in the ensuing furor.. and the district attorney is refusing to prosecute any of the men, saying many of the cases were tainted by the involvement of amateurs.. "certainly these people should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, but the fact that this was all done for television cameras raises some questions," said mayor bret baldwin.. it is the first time in nine "dateline nbc: to catch a predator" stings across the country in the past year and a half that prosecutors did not pursue charges.. "dateline" has made prime-time entertainment out of contacting would-be child molesters over the internet, luring them to a meeting place, and videotaping their humiliating confrontations with reporter chris hansen.. (story continues below).

Great..so idiots had hissy fits, making it ok to let out adults who intended to sexually touch children. Now, they'll get to for sure and likely not get caught. The bigger picture just doesn't matter to some people.

My Grandpa Died Sunday
by noni1974 inmy grandpa died sunday afternoon.i was there in the room with him.i had to watch as he struggled to take his last breaths.it was horrific to watch.this was the second time i have watched someone in my family die.he died of prostate cancer.it was a long and painful death.i'm glad he's not in pain anymore.. at the moment i'm feeling a little emotional and upset about what i saw and all of the jw bs i had to listen too.i'm also dreading the jw memorial which is next weekend.i am planning on going.i'm da ed so i don't expect anyone to come up and talk to me or express there sorrow to me.the thing is i feel like i should be comferted and people should tell me they are sorry i lost my grandfather.i lost someone who i had alot of respect for all of my life regaurdless of how close we were after i da ed.i think i'm going to be excluded at the dinner after.they are planning a reception type thing for after the service.
i'm glad i did get the chance to see him and talk to him before he got really sick.i had the chance to go to dinner with him and my parents and a couple of my aunts a few months ago.when he was leaveing he asked me pointedly for a hug.he said he was collecting them.i hugged him and said i loved him.that was the last time i saw him till i went to my aunts house where he was staying just before he went into hospice.the next time i saw him was 3 weeks ago when he entered hospice and wasn't expected to live the night out.then i saw him sunday i arrived about 20 to 30 minutes before he took his last breath.he was creamated this week and will be buried with my other family in our family plots soon.. anyway i'm just in need of some kind words of support at the moment.i though that jwd would give that to me even though i don't post here that much.it really sucks to feel alone at times like this..

I'm sorry Noni!!

I hope you're not. That is just horrible. You're hurting, too, and no one deserves to be excluded from such an event. Can't you show up anyway? He loved you. That's what matters.
I kept hearing people say he had a good linage to pass down.
People who have their head stuck up their rump, I think! They are equating lineage (like being a gifted violinist) to jw literature pushing.
His linage is as much mine as anyone of my cousins or anyone else.I felt like I wasn't even in the same room with the Elder who said that.Funny thing was he looked pointedly at me when he said it.I wonder if he did the on purpuse or unconscienly??
Pompous b*stard. It's a wonder people like that don't get beaten.

which celebrity death....?
by nowisee injust heard about the death of joel siegel, the entertainment critic for abc, and found myself, surprisingly, in tears.
maybe it was because he had such a young son and made plans to let him know how much he was loved, long before he died.
maybe because i have watched him for so many years.

DO YOU THINK THERE'S A CURE FOR CANCER?
by Mary indo you think the scientists, doctors and pharmeceutical companies know of a cure for cancer that they're not telling us?
when you consider the leaps and bounds in medical discoveries that we've made in the last 50 years, it seems incredible that they're still using chemotherapy and radiation as the treatment for cancer.. while i was one of the lucky one who has survived cancer (so far), it's always in the back of my mind that it could return.
we all have friends who died before their time because of this rotten disease, yet the only progress that seems to have been made is that they can now 'detect' it earlier, which of course gives you a much greater chance of survival.. there have been stories of people who have been cured through alternative medicine, yet no one in the medical field seems to be interested in anything other than chemo or radiation.

I will assume you meant to say I don't get it. You don't think the pharmeceutical industry and the FDA aren't in bed together? Of course they are. You think giants like Pfizer want to see a safe, non-patentable, cheap cure for cancer? If they weren't getting their palms greased, how the hell does a dangerous drug like Vioxx or Phentermine ever get approved? If there was any herb on the market that caused as many deaths as these two drugs did, it would have never been approved for for anything.
To answer your questions:
1) Conspiracies are not running the drug approval process. This thread has been suggesting otherwise.
2) I don't nor have I ever worked for Pfizer, but I do know a cure would mean big bucks, so YES.
3) Some drugs are obviously pushed for approval and onto the market without substantial research-not something I agree with.
4) Herbs-why aren't they advertised? Where are the sales reps? I'm not against this, but I'm not one to take something into my body without knowing all the risks, including long-term.
As far as anything natural goes, if it works, then it works and people will use it. I can't say I wouldn't if ever diagnosed with cancer!! There's no reason the medical profession in general would recommend those treatments unless an individual M.D. has looked into it and wouldn't be liable for those treatment suggestions. I'm not an oncologist, so perhaps one could give an answer to that. This thread is about asking the question: Do you think there's a cure they're not telling us about and that can cover a variety of areas such as the pharmeceutical industry, alternative medicine, the FDA. Many on here have raised some valid points but as per usual, those that scoff at anything outside the scientific laboratory, sneer at the thought of anything "natural" being able to cure someone.

Has anyone even bothered looking up what happened to Lane Lab when they tried presenting their findings of the MGN-3 to the FDA? It's a completely natural treatment PLUS they actually had the controlled studies to back up their claim. The FDA wasn't interested! Doesn't that strike you as rather odd that something that could help people who have cancer wasn't even considered by the powers that be? They gave no valid reason other than saying 'it's not a drug and you're not allowed to make any health claims, end of story.'
You get it, Mary. It's when people ASSume that pharmaceuticals and doctors are the reason there's no cure, that greed is their motive for not finding a cure yet. The real issue here is between the FDA and EMEA, and non-drug treatment.
That argument should be presented clearly rather than calling out scapegoats from the sky. -

So.......if these holistic 'cures' exist, why bother going to the doctor EVER, especially for something so potentially life-threatening as cancer?

Unfortunately, virtually all of this research work is done behind closed doors that the public has no access to.
Information IS released to the public. Anyone can read press releases. When findings are made, they are reported.
I believe that if their only goal was to find a cure for cancer, they would be open to ALL possibilities, including alternative medicine. The very fact that they go out of their way to bash ANY alternative treatment----even those that have worked---tells me that their motives and goals are not as pure as what they'd like us to believe.
Alternative treatments should be handled by alternative companies. Why aren't they obtaining grant money to do their own research if they really believe their treatments work. Statements ought to be back up by actions and evidence that follows.
When a chemical combination aka drug is thought to have a chance to fight off something so prevalent as cancer, it is researched and tested for years.
These holistic hippies would know that if they put some action into their beliefs.

Did You Like Your Congregation?
by minimus inthe hall i was in the last few years was not a bad place.
most of the people were middle class, some had college educations (like the po and his wife); they generally weren't over critical.
of course there were a few elders and publishers that were pains but for the most part the people in that hall were pretty decent.

When a person never seems to just fit in, that's when they start becoming disillusioned and critical.
