Golden Compass Movie, to be avoided?
by cab1000 ini had a chance to be with a group of jw's yesterday.
my wife thinks she overheard a couple of them talking about an announcement from the platform about avoiding the "golden compass" movie coming out.
i know that other religious groups have spoken out against this film, but i would not have expected the witnesses to announce that formally.

Accidentally Hit Animals with Cars ? A Problem in Rural areas-Experiences?
by flipper inso, hello folks.
i have wanted to start this thread for sometime because i was curious if it has happened to any of you often.
in the last 10 years or so it seemed that deer were attracted to my trucks like magnets .

I've hit/ran over opossums, racoons, birds, squirrels, and have to constantly avoid deer. I'm sure it'll happen one day, though. My brother recently hit a deer pretty hard, and the entire car hood had a dent in the form of its body.

I don't know any men's colognes anymore!
On me, I've been alternating between Bright Crystal by Versace and Unforgivable (for women) by Sean John.

I don't know all men so I can't answer that. I'm not changing the subject to women because THIS thread is about men.
I do believe MOST men do and don't think twice about it. Sex is afterall, a physical act rather than an emotional one. Emotions get tied to it purposely, though they truly are separated. It's just a shame more people do not have the courage to honestly communicate that they want an open marriage. Many will not do that because the openness would be on the part of both partners rather than just the one initiating the stance simply because that person looks at the relationship as owning the other rather than being their friend.
Do you know of men / women that cheat on their spouse regularly? Worldly or witness. Provide details of the circumstances (strip clubs, business trips, girlfriend in other cities, ect..........).
My brother in law
cheats on his wife constantlyhas never had the dignity to admit to his wife that he does not want to ever be sexually monogamous with anyone. This is only a problem because she doesn't like when he gets caught. He is 39, btw.
His bachelor party had strippers/prostitutes and he got a few bj's that night. He has girlfriends in the city he works in. NSA sex with whomever. Normal guy stuff - his opinion.I am starting to feel that despite NOT being a witness, I am truly an anomoly, a faithful husband.
I'm thinking maybe you want to find validation for what you're thinking about doing...
Does this bother you? Do you think you're possibly wasting time not f'ing anyone else? Have your thoughts on sex and marriage changed? I don't need answers....just posing these q's to you.
~I have never cheated on anyone, especially my wife. However, as I have told the wife in the past, I'm a good dog, but you have to pet me once in a while if you expect me to stay on the porch. Hopefully, I get "petted" tonight.
~I wouldn't risk losing her for 18.9 seconds of pleasure!
Those made for good reading. :)

Recovery of an Adult Convert (Reconnecting with Loved Ones)
by lonelysheep init is my third year out and a heavy period of recovery.
speaking of which, i thought i was recovered!.
you know that as jw's, the rule is to stay away from anyone who is essentially persuading you to not be associated with 'jehovah's people'.

After seeing a few close family members over the last 2 weeks, including today, I can very happily say that I wasn't even asked any questions as to why I've been MIA, but have just been told how much I've been missed and have been thought of. That's it....I love you's, hugs and kisses and promises to be in each other's lives simply because we love each other and we can.
I need that. I ache because I miss being around people who love me.
Since those people were never jw's (against everything they stand for, in fact), they provided me the opportunity to be in their life and vice versa.
My grandfather passed away Saturday. Fortunately, all we will do at the funeral is grieve together as a family, with no exclusions. I was the only one doing the excluding, and it's ancient history.

Thanks. It is important that this be seen and the word is out there.
The wt org really, really is a smalllllllllllll inkling on the general public's brains because no one are jw's. 6 million? Puhleeze. That's nothing. NOTHING!
However, this news piece is SOMETHING! For those on the outside, they now have something to rest in the back of their minds. This is crucial to the unknown potential future study.

does any other religion not celebrate birthdays?
by tijkmo ini was thinking about the newspaper article that said that jws stick to no blood transfusions because nobody else does it and so this marks them as different.
but there are other religions that don't allow any medical treatment so i'm guessing that would include blood medicine.. then i started to think about other things eg christmas - plenty of other religions don't celebrate christmas.
war - plenty of conscientious objectors.

Having spent my first 21 years in churches, and around people who belonged to various churches-Catholic, Baptist, 7th Day Adv., synogauges (sp?), and mosques, I can say that from them I've not known of anyone who were against birthdays!
Celebrating life is fine!
