Who has so little regard for our journey to those beliefs or our right to hold them, that she tells us smugly that we will eventually grow out of them? Then when we try to explain sincerely where we stand, we are told again, that most of us are actually just playing at this, and will one day change our minds.
WOW..........
God is capable of being outgrown, as most one-sided relationships are. You learn not to go back to him/her. So much easier in this case as this thing has never even bothered to show up for anything or respond in any type of way! Doing so equates to being a glutton for self-inflicted mental punishment.
I am guessing that someone who claims to be without a belief in any gods and then goes to truly believe in one or any is confused and cannot truly classify themself as either atheist or theist.
i was talking about this with some friends yesterday, i believe that we do not change, we might change the way we see the world around us, we might change our belief, we will learn new things that will make us change our outlook on life but when it comes down to it i think we are who we are.
my friends say that we do change, that we are never the same person year after year, i was the only one who did not agree.
i told them that i have seen people "change" but deep down there were the same person, all they change was their "mask".
People DO change-positive or negatively.
it is with great pleasure that i have found this forum, being an ex jw myself.
after leaving when i was 17 i still held some belief in the notion of a "god," even though i didn't believe in jw teachings, then when i was about 21 and thought about it properly; i realised that evolution is the only real alternative to all religion.
when you get to this point its very liberating to see that its not just jw's that are clouding and brainwashing peoples minds, but all religion, whether organised or not.

3. I have said this all along. This is a human issue I am dealing with. I too am human, I too expect to be treated like a human, but in the gay community I wasn't.
If I had been treated as bad in the churches as I was in the gay community, I would be the first person here touting gay marriage, and probably would be an Atheist. But I wasn't and therefore the reason for my involvement in this issue.
Dave, do you realize this very statement just spills of "I'm in the closet and gay. Kinsey scale 5 gay"??
Being treated bad in church has nothing to do with what is or isn't at the core of why people go to church (the god that doesn't exist).
Next, you sound soooo confused by being in denial of who you really are. You can't pick or choose who you are based off of how people have treated you and irregardless if you want to be a part of their community or not! That's like being biracial and picking one race to LABEL yourself as simply because one race has treated you better than the other. Eventually, you learn that they both contain plain and simple a$$holes and nice people. And please don't chime in again and say that race and sexuality are two different things when the only thing different about them is that 90% of the time, race is obvious to a person's eyes, ears, or attractiveness at first glance. It never changes the fact that a person is of both races the entire time, even if they don't want to accept who they really are without trying to change it, or change the label that IS them. That takes loving oneself and not caring what people think about the fact that you exist. No one owes you anything for being you.
John Doe, the group of JG is probably good.
summer is about here, so you know that is prime time for concerts.
i am hoping to get tickets to poison for once.
i will also be seeing george michael :) and yes, i will be buying myself a ticket to new kids on the block for a september show.
I'll go with you, Dan.
Maroon 5--have fun, Mrs. Jones!
not an issue with me - but i wonder how many voters would turn against him if they found out he was?
the latest tabloid in check out lines has brought the sinclair scandal out into the public eye - and although i haven't heard it yet, i understand that rev manning has a damning video on youtube.
larry craig was vilified - would the same people who vilified him still vote obama in and why?
Barack Obama cannot possibly be gay.
It's the republican, not the democratic party, that has all the closeted ones...

I honestly feel bad for you, and wish you could overcome your self-hate. Life is too short to hate yourself dude. Trust me, I hated myself for far too long.
I do, too.
Bisexuality is okay as well.

I really like David Cook but the idols tour is one I will miss.
He can sing anytime to me, though.
