I seem to be hanging on to the hope that we will see dead loved ones again. I don't at the moment know if that's just hope, a feeling , or a definite belief. After three years it's one of the few that is hanging on. I still think we have a creator. Not much else really.

I thought the reason for dispersing the people by confusing their languages was to divide the people so that they would not work together. Didn't God find out what a bloody clever bunch these humans that he's made were and that if they carried on the way they were, nothing would be impossible for them. so like a good parent does when the kids get too clever he divided to conquer.
Humans are incredibly clever and sadly incredibly stupid as well. If it wasn't for countries, languages and religions, perhaps we would have hunted God down and found him by now. And maybe even given him a piece of our minds. Just my opinion!

Hi there PressingForward! I'm looking forward to hearing how shocked and outraged you are when you find out you've been lied to for as long as you've been a witness and that the High Ups know!
Little thought here, Nebuchadnezzar was king from 602BCE until 562 BCE.
Jerusalem fell to Babylon in 586/587 BCE.
And this means..........?
You work it out!
A little riddle for you:
How do you get to 1914 CE from 607 BCE?
The answer:
Through a pyramid.
Why don't you go find out what that means. Small clue, read up on C T Russell
Make sure you check EVERYTHING the governing body tell you.
No hard feelings. We were all like you once so we know how you feel or have been told to feel.
Good luck with your studies!

What Is THE Number One Reason For JWs Leaving???
by minimus infrom what i can see, it's the "lack of love" that gets people to realize the witnesses don't have the "truth" after all!

As far as disfellowshiping goes they always claimed the number one reason was immorality.

People make stupid decisions sometimes and they suffer the consequences. But accidents happen.
I say, she's suffered more than enough.
Slightly different, but reminds me of the case in the UK of a severly schizophrenic woman who stabbed her five year old to death. She was found guilty but could have escaped prison because of her medical condition. However she was recovering and realised what she'd done. She begged to be punished with prison because of her actions. She found what she'd done unbearable. Makes you weep when you hear her story.
Sh*t happens!
Breaks you heart though! We always want black and white, guilt and not guilty. Sad!

That Christ began his earthly rule in 1914
That Christ found the Jehovahs Witnesses the only true religion in 1919
That only those who attend the meetings of Jehovah's Witnesses will be saved at Armageddon
That Millions now living will never die, (or might, now, infact probably will...)
That the governing body are the 'Faithful and Discreet Slave providing food at the proper time'
That in 1935 the doors to heaven were closed

"Replacement doctrines" - things which JWs lie about to the interested ones
by Pole independing on the denomination of their interlocutor the witnesses often claim that their religion is free of a whole bunch of non-sensical doctrines which are so common in other religions.
oftentimes, however, it proves that they have something that i'll call "replacement doctines" - beliefs which which are difficult to figure out for the 'interested ones', but which in the long run prove to be just as bad as the stuff they disclaimed or worse.
example: in a catholic country like poland, jws often boast about the fact that they don't have the confession routine, where a person has his/her sins forgiven by a priest who acts as a representative of god.

No we don't follow superstitions, (except we worry if we've missed meetings, assemblys, not put in enough time in field service, just in case Armageddon comes.
ie, 'he wouldn't have had that car crash if he'd been at the meeting.
or/ they wouldn't have died in that disaster if they'd been at the meeting!

Funerals
by dothemath inlast year, a faithful sister passed away in a neighboring cong.
she did have some disfellowshipped relatives............i guess everyone assumed they wouldn't show up.
but they did (which they certainly have every right to do).........and it seemed it caused quite a stir.. one elder, who stayed to visit the family, ended up having to apologize to the entire congregation.

Quite probably, Blondie. But people's attitude was awful. The girl had no support from anyone and now sympathy for her loss. To be reinstated she had to go through all that palava of coming to the meetings every time and being ignored by all. She hadn't suffered enough?
Nasty people.

It's sickening , isn't it.
It's not a funeral that this reminds me of but a very very sad case of a young sister who became pregnant by an elder in our Cong. At first they were only reproved, but when it became obvious that they were still seeing eachother, he was helping to support her and get her to her hospital appointments, and his wife was unable to have children, they were both disfellowshiped.
Then the young lady became very ill and the baby was born prematurely. The child died a few weeks later.
Congregations reaction, 'It's a blessing from Jehovah!' Believe me I heard this many many times and it sickened me.
Some comments were that 'it's better that the baby died, it would have been awkward for the elders wife to be in the same hall as his illegitimate child.'
And, 'far better that the baby died. It would have been a shame for Jehovah's name.'
The young sister carried on 'in the troof' for a few years and then faded. I think about her a lot.
The Elder is reinstated but I can't help feeling sorry for him too.

Hi Upside/down,
I agree with you, but I only have personal experience with JW doctrine.
So maybe they should ban religion?!
