what other religious organizations are supposedly 'preaching the good news of the kingdom throughout the earth' other that the jws?
i can only think of mormons but know of missionaries in the catholic and cof e faith.
but does this mean that 'then the end will come', as the wtbts preaches or have their always been missionaries on a christianity conversion trip?.
Really! Now that's got to be the beauty of the internet! Thanks Unclebruce. I had never heard of this group only that 'christianity' was increasing in China. That is a mind boggling thought, five million chinese advancing on Jerusalem!
I can imaging the Jews and Muslims joining forces against that force.

I was thinking of the Crusades as well and the Spanish over in S America. Weren't they also 'converting' albeit very violently.

she has several birds, a yellow-nape amazon (big parrot), an african gray (snuggle bird), a starling (saved as a fledgling), two cockatiels (think largish yellow parakeets), and two doves.
cheeko was a green-cheek amazon, a smallish parrot.

We have birds as well. Parakeets and cockatiels. They are the most wonderful loving creatures imagineable and I am so sorry for your loss.

Deputy Dog - I've been thinking about your question...do I mean the God of the old Testament or the WTBTS God...and surprised myself in that I forgot , having been brought up a JW, that people have other views over who God is and that some think that Jesus is God etc. So, my answer to that it that I must mean the Jehovah God of the old Testament and the God that Jesus called 'Father' who I also assume is Jehovah.
I assume I still have in my head JW indoctrination. Who's right and who's wrong....well that's another problem.
Googlemagoogle - thanks for the clarification. I see what you mean. Jesus did get angry. But I don't think he was about to slaughter the people who irritated him so badly. Not the way Jehovah did in the OT.
Jeanniebeanz - my point exactly. Jehovah was continually slaughtering people and letting thoroughly bad people off just because he liked/favoured them ie. David.
So, I think this might be why the JWs fear Armageddon and letting Jehovah down at all and why the WTBTS have them over a barrel. They know what their God is capable of and what he threatens, according to the WTBTS, to do in the future.

Deputy Dog --Hi! I think I'm talking about both. The old testament is full of slaughterings and I believe that the WTBTS take this as... well... this is what God Jehovah is like. Do anything wrong and you and your children are dead meat. I suppose Revelation sort of back this up...what with the body count of 'wicked people' being that big and its apocalyptic images. All very nasty an unpleasant. I wouldn't be too keen on someone who killed everyone every time they lied, or whatever. And it has always seriously irked me that innocents are killed by God because of their parent.

Hi outbutnotdown. Sorry for your dilemma. It would be a good idea to sort out your doubts and get a test. But you may be surprised that you still love this little girl as much and maybe even more than you do now, whatever the result of the test. So be glad your names down on her birth certificate because by the sounds of it these kids REALLY NEED YOU! But don't feel guilty about doing the test.
i noticed after being a jw for a while that many members of my congregation were having to take antedepressants.
(i counted at least 30 out of 100).
after a few years i too began to have bouts of depression and problems with anxiety.

I was told by a Witness that there is hardly any depression amongst the JWs when I was discussing this topic this week.
She, I would say is depressed and never diagnosed. Her husband is definitely a manic depressive and refused to see a psychiatrist when offered the opportunity recently be his GP 'Nothing wrong with my head!'
Then I listed the long list of people on anti depressant meds in their cong. the anorexics etc and they insisted that this was perfectly normal.
I went through the couple of hundred people I know living down and around my road. One with depression, one with obsessive compulsive disorder and depression. Statistically a big difference. But they wouldn't have it. All apostate lies. JWs are the happiest people on Earth....if this is so...God help the rest of us!
so, i've been trying to find as many jw off-shoots, mostly personal reasons.
i never knew there were any until about two years ago.
i guess the wts did a good job because i didn't have a clue.
