i got into a debate with 2 other friends (one a mormon and the other jw, i'm rc) about the blood transfusion issue.
the jw friend cited: genesis 9:4,16 leviticus 7:26,27 & 17:14 acts 15:28,29 & 21:25
i cannot for the life of me see how anyone can read those and honestly beleve that what was ment was to reject blood to save life!
I think that a lot of JWs still stick to the scripture that says, 'refering to blood, fornication and things strangled' :
'..if you carefully keep yourself from these things you will prosper. Good health to you.'
I believe there was a Watchtower article which said that the 'Good health to you' didin't refer to their avoiding STD and blood borne diseases. However, I have even recently heard JWs refer to this point. That God was keeping them safe.
It can be difficult to argue with what someone WANTS something to mean.
someone came out with the tired old claim that the site is dying, there is a mas exodus, yada yada yada.
some people would really love for that to happen, i know .... we have gone down a few places on bigboards simply because some new sites were added to it that have more posts - the sites we are ranked alongside all went down by the same amount at the same time and we've gone up against some and down against others (not that sheer post numbers matter that much).
also, a combination of optimising page caching and alexa changing how they rank things has reduced the ranking on that too ... but how are we really doing?.
And I bet those three heads can get through a hell of a lot of apostachix mix too!

I like to trust my gut feeling and my gut tells me to take it all with a huge pinch of salt.
It's a book that people like to beat other people up with. That being so..it can't be all good!

A good way to tell how the site is doing would be to have us put our reports in at the end of the month, how many hours, how many replys, how many new topics started....etc

Don't let it get you down though. This is a very hard time for you all and will be for a few months yet! Yes this is what happens to you as you get older. And having been in the same situation I can promise you, what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. Losing pets is horrendous! The one thing you learn from it though is that you remember all the good times and treasure the times you have with them!
Really sorry for what's happening at the moment. Sometimes , you gotta do what you gotta do.

In our opinion and having been in a very similar situation with our much loved dog, you MUST put the cat to sleep. It's up to you if you want to let your son say goodbye first but....we had our children say goodbye to the dog in the morning telling them that it was very, very unlikely that they would see her again and because they could see how much she was suffering they agreed with us. Don't let the poor animal suffer one moment longer than necessary.
That's just our opinion.

like a hole that will not be filled again, there is so horrible things that have happened in the world, could it be that there is no everlasting life for us, so many questions and to think of giving up everyone makes me sick to my stomach.
but i want to be happy and i'm not, does anyone feel empty?

anyway, there are some interesting points .... .
It seems that the African Americans are more drawn to fundamentalist and evangelical religions. But could that be because so many fundamentalist/evangelicals and as we also call them in the UK, 'happy clappy' religions seem to have their origins in the US.
I, and this is a personal view, but I always find the calling of 'brother' or 'sister' makes me cringe as well as the praying in public before meals, the person who feels the need to call out 'AAAAAAAAYYMen!" But I don't know if this is just my English upbringing, making me feel that way. Friends who are of these fundamentalist religions, seem to need to insert 'thanking the Lord' into most sentences just as JWs are forever saying 'if Jehovah allows' etc.
Maybe I was never meant to be religious.
What I'd be interested to know however, as my black friends I went to school with have not followed in their parents fundamentalist/BA or evangelical footsteps, is that a general trend in the US as well. Are younger black people falling away from these faiths?
