Hi drum and bach! LOL!
That brings back memories of my childhood, without the neck tie of course! My Eldest son, when we still used to go to the KH, used to hide his trouser! Used to work for him!

hey there.
i'm new to this board, so i thought i'd introduce myself with a story.
it details the kind of thursday night we all dreaded as a young jw.

dr. suki tepperberg, a family physician in dorchester, mass., has concerns about those who put too much faith in god?s will.
one of her patients, a jehovah?s witness who has diabetes and hypertension, believes her illness is in god?s hands and she sometimes eats destructively, harming her health.
April 15, 2005 Watchtower, page 14 says:
When we suffer affliction, we undoubtledly supplicate Jehovah earnestly, and that draws us closer to him. We may spend more time studying God's written word and may make greater effort to apply it. This results in a happier life. But what if we react to affliction in a way that shows up undesirable traits, such as impatience and pride? With earnest prayer and help of God's Word and spirit, we can overcome such flaws and more fully 'clothe ourselves with the new personality'.
What could this imply as sorting or helping to sort our health problems out with?
my parents went to the assembly this weekend.
they were telling me about disciplining children... the speaker was saying how all babies are born selfish and demanding for their own needs and not anyone elses.
the jist of the talk being about discipline, and training children ...ie taking them out for a good beating.. well, i don't know if any of you have ever 'just seen red!
Perhaps the need for CONTROL, both thought and physical, is the real reason for all the extreme behaviour everywhere, be it in a country such as Iraq, under Sadams regime, and now with foreign armies trying to control the population, we are seeing extreme mistreatment. Then you get religions, both Christian, like the JWs and even Islam, where fear is the driving force for extreme and irrational behaviour amongst anyone with any power, including parents. Fear of a vengeful God, in the case of religion, can drive anyone slightly prone to irrational behaviour, into that very behaviour easily, and anyone that you might have considered very balanced can also behave irrationally.
The earlier example of one of the children I saw rigid in terror at the repeated slappings, and I mean really hard slappings she was receiving from her mother is an example. The child was 13 months old and very delicately built. The mother, in normal circumstances was a very intelligent, lovely woman but she HAD BEEN TAUGHT BY THE WTBTS that is was UNACCEPTABLE for her child not to sit and listen, or to cause any disturbance distracting from the food provided by the FDS; why the child's very life depended on her taking in this VITAL knowlege. That child was slapped and slapped and slapped.....hence the searing of her tiny face in my memory.
Maybe we need to really consider how much control anyone should have over anyone else!
just want to share my experience growing up through this organization.
all but one sister are jw.
my other sister was molested by other people who were at the time witnesses.
Hi Moanzy! Welcome to the forum!
Many here will identify with your very difficult life up till now in the WTBTS and I'm so glad that you're finally free from that cult.
In time, I hope the anger and bitterness will all disappear - you will have a happy life and in that way prove them all wrong.
It's wonderful to be free from WTBTS crap, and your children can grow up as free individuals and you can give them what you never truly had, love and freedom.
Looking forward to reading many more posts from you!!
Best Wishes
Gill
why am i surprised on reading the latest watchtower, the april 15 2005?
i had thought that the wtbts would at least be cautious in making its prophecies now.
surely after over 100 years of failed prophecy you might be a bit more careful, or would you?.
I think this is one of the problems with the WTBTS publications. The writers are totally annonymous. It would be interesting to know who wrote this particular article and if it was a young or old member of the writing team. Angle matters and even though the articles all need to be 'Passed' the writer can't help but leave some finger print in his article.
I suspect this is written by a younger member of the writing team that is perhaps not fully aware, naturally, of WTBTS history. I know most of my relatives have NO IDEA of the complete and accurate history of the WTBTS and its catalogue of failed predictions.
if there any single factor that i would rate as the highest priority in raising a child, it is this:.
teach them to be caring, loving adults who care about other people.. we've already noted, ad nauseum, how witnesses are largely impelled by motives other than love in their "ministry".
"pioneer stroll" and fantasies about who's-house-you-want-after-armageddon, there is a further problem in raising witness kids.
Hey Crumpet - IBS - I could write a book on it!
Take Magnesium for the stress related side of it and then the best multi-probiotics you can afford, except not just one capsule a day but one with every meal! Watch for results in a week or so.
Magnesium by the way, you can take up to 600mg a day but you MUST space out the dose! Then gradually bring the dose down to about 300mg a day. Healthspan do a great Mg with B Vits. EXCELLENT!
Metatron - sorry for hijacking the thread but.....it's still absolutely brilliant and very accurate!

Oh Wow, Metatron!
Exactly, exactly, exactly!
Crumpet - Metatron was saying that the extreme stress and pressures of being a JW causes these terrible problems amongs some witnesses, who subconsciously just can't take it any more.
I was dishing out supplements to my very sick JW cousin today, and all I wanted to say was for God's sake leave that damned cult....but I couldn't, I was too afraid that she wouldn't speak to me again because she's in too deep.
Damn the WTBTS!!!!
...or are they just a source of nightly entertainment?
alternatively how directly do your day to day activities insert themselves into your dreams.
the reason i ask is because i had a dream last night which i think might actually be life changing.
Hi Crumpet! Your dreams can help unscrew your head if you spend a little time thinking about them. I remember you saying in one post that you would never have children because of your JW upbringing and you feared being like your parents. This does not follow. I know you know a 'little bit' about my childhood. I have five children and I'm, I believe a very good mum. My bad experiences, though having scarred me, have made me empathetic, thoughtful and very, very considerate to other people's needs. I do not consider myself a lesser person for being able to feel these things and for getting satisfation for taking care of others.
I hope you can get in touch with your maternal side and let your JW indoctrination go. Whether you chose to be a mum one day or not, it's okay to love and care and put other people ahead of yourself and ahead of the WTBTS. Sometimes that crap gets lodged in your head and it's like a nasty virus in your computer....reconfiguring the files and isolating the virus can be bloody hard work.
ever notice how the "happiest people on earth" are also the most class-oriented?
to say that jesus said his followers should all be on equal footing, it's incredible how much the r&f witness is not on equal footing.
the social structure in the congregation is more complex than the blueprints of a nuclear warhead, but just so that you "remember your place", see if you can find where your niche was/is:
Blondie - that's so spot on!
As Margaret Thatcher once said: 'Everyone needs a Willy!'
I remember all the sisters, old and young who had no husband, unless they were pioneers were 'nothing' important. They were not invited to people's homes and only to partys so that they could work as waitresses and in the kitchen.
Sad world...sad organization.
ever catch yourself thinking about a coworker, and noticing little quirks they have, like anything they do, they have to like announce it???
lol!
yesterday, my coworker was doing a weekly hour balance for our drivers.
Control freakery is rooted in insecurity! There's a need to validate yourself and everyone else so comparison and 'control' is essential. Where everyone is exactly on the hierachical ladder has to be marked so that everyone can be treated as they ' deserve' not as equals.
Always be polite to these people and then ignore them. They're not worth the hastle of confrontation!
