My grandson was beaten on Sunday by his dad. He didn't want to go to the meeting and so my son spanked him so hard he can hardly walk. His step mom put her hand over his mouth and his eyes so the neighbors would not hear him. I saw my grandson and he told me this. I sat most of the day at social services to make a report and when I get to the intake worker tells me it has to be reported in the mom's county. I will have to call Wednesday. The lawyers are just waiting. I just want to explode. My grandson is at the doctors now. I saw my grandson Saturday and he wanted to come with me but my son refused. I bought my grandson a cell phone but my son won't let it in the house. I can't take much more of this.

Well, another weekend and my son gets his son. The attorney is hired by my ex- daughter- in -law. The grandson went to a psychologist who puts him in a group of kids who have anger problems. All happens next week. Child protective services have known since 2002. Still waiting for guardian ad litem for grandson. All takes time. So is my grandson safe this weekend?

Thanks for the info. Yes, this has been reported to the authorities since 2002. The police think this is an ex wife retaliating for my son remarrying. My son lives in Baraboo WI. It seems if you do not have money you do not get service or protection. I just thought a letter to the elders might help. HA HA

Does she send the letter to secretary or po? Who we don"t know. Or just send it to kingdom hall? Should she send it registered? She does not live in the same city as ex.

My son has asked the court to give him more visitation with his son. In fact so much he will have physical custody, along with joint. Now what? Where is there a God when you need one? This is a nightmare.

Well I have been a lurker on this site for some time. It is not suspicious when a child abuse situation is happening. I live in a rural area about 10 miles from my son. I called over the weekend. No one answered their cell phone. Sunday I got through after their meeting. I asked if I could come over. Sunday is their cleaning day and they had plans at 2:00 and my grandson had to be back in Madison ,WI at 5:00 pm. So I did not get to see my grandson. My grandson has a cell phone in case he gets lost with 911 number but the reception is not available at his Dad's. And my son seems to not let him near the cell phone. I am a real grandmother with a real problem. I only share this information because I thought others might know what to do. Your ideas have helped. Thanks.

My son has my grandson for the weekend. So I am very concerned. I have talked to my son over the phone about his physical discipline of spanking and how inappropriate this is. I mentioned how Jesus would not hit children. He did listen with out hanging up. I talked to him about not letting my grandson be alone in the congregation because of an alleged pedophile and how he lives with 34 convicted pedophiles in his neighbor hood. When I offer to babysit I must travel to my son's apartment since we live in different cities. My ex daughter-in-law wants to go back to the child custody mediator to change my son's visitation. There is no phone in my son's apartment (cell only) so my grandson can't call for help. I am going to call but it might not work because my son doesn't answer. My grandson's new step mom is worse than my son. I feel helpless. I have passed your suggestions on to my grandson's mom. Thanks

Thanks. I was thinking if a 8 year old is mature enough to decide to be a JW why can't he decide not to be one. Can't he sue his dad or the congregation? I was trying to advocate for what a childs right to freedom of religion might be. Yes, we are reporting his abuse but it is not taken serious. I don't want my grandson to come back to his dads but how can you stop visitation with out breaking the law?

I am an inactive JW who has 3 sons left in the religon. My oldest son has been baptized for4 years and has recently married again. He gets his son every other weekend. My grandson is only 8. He has went back to his mothers(who has never been a JW) covered in bruises from physical spankings for not wanting to go to meetings and field service. I have offered to babysit while they go door to door but they won't hear of it. This last visit my grandson injured his shoulder while they held him down in the car seat. My ex daughter in law has filed police reports, reported to social services, nothing happens. She wants to file for full custody but must wait for a public lawyer. We are all poor to help out money wise. I have given her the cd for jw custody, handbook for jws and printed out medical directives. What more can I do? I am not in the same city as my son or grandson. I have only been invited to my son's place once. Please offer some advice.
