  Did anyone ever ask FDR to appologise for Pearl Harbor?

  last night president bush had a news conference and was asked by several reporters if he thought he should appologise for the 9-11 attacks.. i wonder how fdr would have responded to such a question about pearl harbor?.

  And my point was that YOU are the one who hijacked it. The premise of the thread was who should ?apologize? for 9/11. Not whether we should have invaded .

  911 was the reason for that . I think that GW jr. and freinds knew the possiblities of an attack on american soil, since the time of the administration the government was encouraging citizens to keep on alert and to expect it . When GW was elected he claimed that national security was first and foremost but did nothing .

  Oh, I see. GWB was waiting/hoping that an attack such as the WTC would happen so he could start kickin? some mideastern butt.

  Oh, and ? was encouraging citizens to keep alert and to expect it.? WHAT in God?s name are you talking about? ?Keep alert? to WHAT? Like the genius 9/11 widows suggested: maybe if people were more on the alert, they would have wondered why all these mideastern guys were boarding planes. I cannot fathom there, and your pathetic desperation on "what could have been done." For god's sakes libs are wailing and moaning the Patriot act and fears of racial profiling even AFTER 9/11. Think how possible it would have been in the post-Clinton-Civil Rights-are-the-most-importan-thing Era.

  So, let?s see. During , citizens ?were alert? and "to expect it." Please provide EXAMPLES of this ?alertness? and the communication that to the citizenry that we should "expect it." Could that ?alertness? caused more citizen arrests, more profiling, more alerting the government to the fact that people with brown skin and beards were boarding planes?

  I feel strongly that the leadership we have now is a failure and needs replacing .

  Okay, State Oppression caused the murder of millions of Jews and other groups. Not sheer poverty. Note to self: Avoid any appearance of "opression" to anyone. They could rise up and be justified in killing you. (Come to think of it, I could have murdered my last boss, and be exonerated because he "opressed" me.

  So, in talking about "suicide bombers," what are your thoughts about the wartime Kamakazes of Japan? Functioning out of oppression?

  in case of the taliban it is religious fanatism (which arises usually out of poverty and desperation) in case of the nazis have and have nots plus the war of course.

  And as has been pointed out ad nauseum the leader of the Taliban and the leader of terrorist attacks on the US and others was a weathly, well-born, well-familied BUSINESSMAN. If he had spend half his wealth and a fraction of his enegergy upon feeding his hungry and opressed kinsman, they wouldn't be "proverty sticken" as you suggest.

  And if Saddaam had spent one fraction of his nations oil wealth on actually FEEDING his people, they wouldn't be starving. This embargo crap is assine. These nations have the OIL WEALTH to give their people a comfortable life style. Because Saddaam pocketed the riches to buy lavish houses, women, and toys, the bulk of his people went hungry. Oh, but no, libs are saying, its the US embargo that killed his people.

  And tell the truth, what do you think of "the Donald's" hair? Should he get a toupe? Lose the combover? Or is it fine as it is

  (Didn't see this comment when originally replied). His hair bugs me to no end. Who's telling him that it looks good? I suspect that if he combed it back NORMALLY without trying to get it to touch his eyebrows, it wouldn't look bad. (Plus, he's gotta dye it).

  When I've seen combovers, it's usu guys having a part one ear!

  I think the Donald needs to get a normal cut; face the fact that not having your hairline 1/2 inch about your eyebrows is not a sign of FADING YOUTH. I know, someone should put him on another reality show: What Not To Wear. In the course of their makeovers, they do hair...

  I admit; I've been following it. Not sure it is entirely "reality," but, I enjoy it. I'm curious as to who will win. Didn't see it all last week, but geeze, Omorossa is one big pain! I'm not totally convinced there isn't some acting going on. But I'll be in front of the tube tonight. (Helps that it follows Friends & Will & Grace, my other two favs).

  I think the bottom line is that the US did not have world support for invading Iraq . They have tried to justify it with lies . To date no WOMD program has been identified . This whole thing was a big mistake and GW jr. needs to get his ass kicked out of the white house .

  But, assuming we DO want to insist on apologies for "letting 9/11" be victimized by murderous fanatics, then let's get EVERYBODY'S apology.

  We need CLINTON to aplogize for the actions of his staff which contributed to not being able to promote intelligence on international terrorists. Well, the buck shoulda stoped with Clinton, so by the demanders of blame assumption, we should also unequivocally demand an apology from Clinton.

  Pretty ironic that former Deputy Attorney General under Clinton, and NOW one of the key leaders of the 9/11 commission, and btw, the idol of blame mongering by the infamous 9/11 widows, actually was most INSTRUMENTAL in thwarting a flow of intelligence which could have helped avoid 9/11.

  I'm sure she was uneasy as her infamous memo was declassified. Regarding investigations into the 93 WTC bombing, she told FBI director Louis Freeh and US Atty. Mary Jo White, who was the lead prosecutor in cases related to the bombing. These cases could have greatly increased our understanding of the AQ network. What does Gorelick advise?

  if the jw organization were considered a normal business operating without the protections of being a religion, it obviously would have to make some big changes in order to avoid being sued out of existence for sex discrimination.

  i wasn't raised to think that women should be relegated to second class status or that they should have less opportunities than men or be relegated to a limited set of life roles.

  however, when i became a jw, i freely accepted all the sexist nonsense that came with the territory without ever being bothered by it.

  Frankly, it did not bother me until I left. At least "conciously" it didn't bother me. Hell, I was young. Now I think it's heinous. I personally have female JW relatives who have pscho problems because of it.

  It's just part of the whole "orderly" paternal antiquated society.

  So, based on your rationale, I assume you have a good explanation for Hitler/Germanic hatred of JEWS as was so clearly expressed durng WWII. Guess they did something do deserve it.
