Oh, and that's even MORE powerful information...
well, despite not having the much touted "freedom of speech" that america enjoys, we will get to see micheal moore's new film "farenheit 911" whereas america, for now, won't.. the film links president bush with powerful saudi families including the bin ladens.. seems disney (based on florida) have blocked the distribution because they are afraid of losing tax breaks by way of retaliation ... handy having cousing jeb as governor isn't it?.

Oh, and that's even MORE powerful information...
i don't want one more u.s. soldier to die for the iraqi people.
it's now obvious to me that the international community was right.
the people of iraq do not deserve to live in a free society.
And smashing them with a sledge hammer might work for awhile -- but unless a broader strategy of (1) international cooperation, (2) stable and representative governments and (3) raising of living conditions is pursued, we will be working against a growing tide.
So, explain "international cooperation." Explain who we achieve a stable and representative government in an area/culture that consistently demonstrates itself to be murderous, oppressive, culturally breeding terrorism, who truly don't understand the concept of freedom.
What do you mean "raising living conditions?." So now we are going to go in and pump money to raise living conditions of people who haven't even demonstrated they have been able to do so, even though they've got a rich oil source. Yes, Saddam raped the people by cutting a deal with UN members--France/Russia, and in so doing starved his people. Based on what I'm seeing over there, there will probably be another Sadaam because they are culturally ripe for it. There's no way we can control it.
Yes we DO need to fight terrorism at home, on our soil. We need to continue to track down terrorists and destroy their network. We need to get toughter on security at home.
But, I'm sick of this zoo. Now we've got the Muslim world suddenly incensed at the pictures of some of their terrorist people being humilated. They, who think nothing of murdering, terroriizing, who live in substandard conditions and have for years and don't have a clue how to get out of it becuase they are culturally ingrained to work against a free society. Latest is that they are asking for the blood of those who committed the "atrocities" in the prisons.
Whatever. Get out and let them destroy themselves. We cannot change their social, cultural, and economic structure. Unitl recently, and with all the political CRAP going on here, including Democrats taking the LEAD in subverting the US government, I believed we could help the Iraqis. Not now. I don't want any more American lives lost over there. They are not worth it.
i just told them where i work as a volunteer, that i am going to a workshop for those that have left a cult tomorrow.
they were all fascinated and wanted to know which cult i had belonged to.
i said jw's and this one guy said i he used to be one of them.
They run scared due to mind control.
friends is over.
the last episode will be tonight.
will ross and rachel end up together?
You betcha I'll be watching. Got addicted to it while I was living in the UK. Made me feel like I was home.
I feel good in that it's probably going to only go downhill if they were to continue the show. They've done some classic comedy.
Let them go out with class.
silvia patterson has been baptised for a little over a year.
she has successfully put on the new personality and her spiritual suit of armor is nearly unpenetratable.

Oh, and just to bring the above post to reality; my JW mom was with me during my first child's birth. When I was told I would need a c-section, the nurse came in to have me sign paperwork before the procedure--she even explictly articulated that I needed to provide approval for a blood transfusion, should one be needed. I signed without hesitation, realizing my mother probably crigned (maybe not, since she new her daughter/grandchild was not at risk for dying from lack of blood).
I thought, what if I had still been a JW...that's all I needed was to have to worry about blood transufstion in the throes of my child's birth and the need for a c-section.

Sylvia is expecting a child, and is very excited. Her doctor informs her that she will need a c-section because the baby is in a breach position.
Old Sylvia;
Great, don't have to go thru labor--I'm so excited. I know it will take longer for recovery, but I have a great doctor whom I trust. Now I know the exact birthdate--can't wait. I'm going to read up on the surgery so I know what to expect.
New Sylvia:
Oh no. What if somthing happens and I need a blood transfusion? I need to make sure my doctor understand's my no blood policy. I need to research what alternatives are available to blood transfusions should something happen. I need to go to the elders to explain the situation and get their guidance--I know there are some things that can be done as an alternative if a blood transfusion is needed, as an alternative to getting blood...I've got some research to do...

Old Sylvia (attending an Oakland A's baseball game):
The announcer says: Please stand for the national anthem. Great, Sylvia thinks as she stands up. Always makes me feel good before a game--this singer has a particularly good voice.
New Sylvia:
I should've gone to the bathroom--forgot about the anthem thing. Gee, I think those people over there are looking at me because I'm sitting....I know it's wrong to stand...knots in stomach.

Well, as a result of the outrage and lunacy of these pictures of abuse and demands for apology, and of the continued futility over there, I've come to pretty much the same conclusion. We don't need this crap. The idea of a true democracy existing in the Arab world, IMO, is a fantasy.
We went in there because we believed Sadaam was a threat the the US. I believe he was. We toppled his government, but then, being the good Americans that we were, we knew we could not just leave Iraq to fend for themselves. We needed to get in there, knock him out, and get out as soon as possible. Do whatever short term efforts we can to help them build a democracy, but move on. If another dictator like Saddam arises, so be it. Stay out of it, UNLESS they become a threat to the US.
I've had it with trying to democratize a nation and bring freedom to a nation that really doesn't want it, is incapable of understanding or fostering freedom.
The US needs to protect itself from terrorism first and foremost, and forget about trying to please the world. I'm SICK of all this anti-American crap. We had 9/11, and we'll see to it that we never have a 9/11 again.
I agree, let them nuke themselves, as long as they don't present a threat to our country. Clearly, it's each country for itself, and we're wasting our time over there.
one thing that always struck me was the rather dour nature of the organization.
i know people laugh, and at seem to have a good time, at least occasionally.
however, one thing i just haven't seen is a real outpouring of joy, like david dancing like a crazy man or some of the other occassions in the scriptures when it seems like people were almost overcome with joy.. anyone here ever feel real joy as a witness?
but a deep daily contentment and a freedom from fear .
Joy = "freedom from fear"? What kind of fear? I could get a personal bodyguard--that might result in true joy.
To get that tranlation, Franz must have gone back to the original Hewbrew/Aramaic (sp) word for "joy." Just like the faulty translation of "nurturing your child in the Lord," was REALLY "discpline and mental regulating of Jehovah."

Frankly, I'm a major Disney fan--go there once a year, now with kids I finally have an excuse. Plenty of Disney products around, with two small children. If this movie were released, my opinion of Disney would definately take a dive. I pretty much represent Disney's target market. Disney's has classically upheld American values and supported America. My guess is that Disney doesn't want to be associated with a film like this, and they are smart to resist it.
Freedom of speech, indeed. They have the right to do whatever they want. Trust me, it's about business and $$. They are thinking of their shareholders, esp in the wake of the Eisner controversy.
