  i receieved this "poem" from some witness chick who sent it as a forward to myself and a whole bunch of other dubs.

  my sister received it from someone else and i have other friends who received it from other sources.

  im sure every young witness who has email has received it by now, and it's the most sickening, disheartening thing i have seen in a long time.

  What the numbers don't tell is the fact that the turnover rate among JWs is extremely high. I'm sure it's high in other religions as well (probably less so in the Catholic religion). I realize that none of those figures include turnover rate.

  I recall reading somewhere that the JW's have one of the highest turnover rates of all religions. I believe this is true because they put way to many rules/restrictions on people. Often people take it up because they've experienced something very difficult in their lives and turn to the dubs because of the hope that soon, everything will be fixed--a perfect panacea. Depending on the person, when they get strong again, emotionally, mentality, materially...whatever, they realize it's a ration of crap.

  if witnesses were allowed to come and post here, what do you think would be the outcome?

  would they become weaker witnesses because of that?

  or maybe, could it even do the opposite and strenghten their faith?

  I don't think most JWs think too deeply; if they did, they'd be out of the borg. I think most of them, certainly those who were RAISED as JWs and know nothing else just accept that it's the truth. Occasionally, they may get tripped up on something that's a "conscience" matter, like watching MTV, going to a church wedding, etc. But I don't think most of them (obviously WE'RE the exceptions!) have enough mental energy or guts to truly question the basic WT teachings.

  for those of you that have seen recent documentarys (i can't remember the program names), there seems to be a few finds of importance regarding man's earliest ancestors.. .

  one documentary i watched was about the discovery of an unusual skeleton, they suggested it was a bipedal - it walked on two legs.

  but, the jaw and other parts of the skeleton were not completely human like.. .

  Great News, Employment Up

  that lagging indicator of employment is silencing the "jobless recovery" critics, in the last two months (march and april) 600,000+ new jobs created, and the january and febraury figures are up.

  Today's Wall Street Journal speaks to the lament that critics of Bush are trying to defend: Sure jobs are coming back, just not good ones:

  "If they follow their usual pattern, pessimists and partisans will now drop teh "jobless recovery" line in favor of the "hamburger flipper" assertion. That is, they'll claim these new service jobs aren't nearly as good as the old jobs in manufacturing that have gone to Mexico or China. Ergo, teh middle-class is "vanishing."

  "Sorry, that's also phony spin. Economist David Malpass Stearns calculates that average hourly earnings in manufacturing in April were $15.24, or $16.08 with overtime...the better-paying categories--in finance, information, professional services, education and health care--have produced most the new service jobs (574,000) in the past six months."

  That's very good news. Doom and Gloom predictions that we're actually becoming a 3rd world nation because all that's being added is minimum wage paying jobs is partisan nonsense.

  minimus, me too. I remember grabbing "Visions of Glory" and reading it at the library. I was to scared to check it out. I remember feeling guilty and fearful that something bad would happen to me for reading apostate literature--I was still under mind control.

  Most of the JWs believe he's still a "brother" but in reality they don't know that they are his prey and are being taken advantage of by a disfellowshipped person! He said people can pose as anyone and we might think we're dealing with honest, upright persons when in reality, we're dealing with unscrupulous individuals.

  Curious as to how these dub's were supposedly "taken advantage of." Whatever. Sounds like newest scare tactic.
