  I agree.. the attacks on what kind of vehicles Kerry owns/drives are simply pathetic.

  Ah, but the point being...if he lied about what he owned and tried to present himself as some SUV-avoiding environmentalist, then what else will he lie about.

  Same thing with his hue and cry about the US losing jobs to overseas. When his heiress wife's Heinz business outsources 72% of her inherited Heinz business, makes you wonder how sincere this guy is. THAT'S the point. Not, who's alledged "sins" are worse than who else's.

  I couldn't see anything in there to skew or bias. It's all stuff that's either true or untrue. And I'm pretty sure it's all a matter of public record, stuff anyone could find out. Oh, please. President George W. Bush has had the LOWEST misery index in 20 years: this index measures inflation and unemployment. The misleading SLANT that people try to put via this "resume" is nothing but political propaganda.

  Everyone accusses the US of being after Iraq's oil...now we find out the whole reason France and Russia oppossed the war was...for Iraq's oil....yet the left ain't yelling about that one...nor the BILLIONS of dollars Saddam stole...some of which went to the french and russians.

  Yeah, quite a few with an agenda just seem to gloss over that one. As they seem to be glossing over THIS issue. From todays WST, comes just that observation:

  "Anonymous US officials have been quoted plyaing down the WMD wrinkle, suggesting the chemicals may have been meant to merely amplify a conventional explosion. But then much of our "intelligence" bureaucracy is still wedded to the discredited notion that secular tyrants and fundamentalist terrorists don't cooperate (see Hezbola)."

  So of COURSE, it was obviously impossible that WMD that there could by ANY type of Al Quaeda/Iraqi connection. Even Kerry, whose basically based his entire campaign on the "lies" GWB told about Iraq and WMD, is now leaving open the possiblity that connections will be found...

  People are so anxious to jump on anything to discredit the president should be a bit more intelligent than to flatly deny that something will "never be found."

  i have to admit that we gave our first two kids 'hebrew' names.

  i don't want to identify my children online but suffice to say that we had at least some sense in that we opted for safe names of the samuel and daniel type - no melchizedeks!.

  however, in our city we had a javan a samson [gen 10:2] and even a zechariah!

  i am alternately enraged that the wts would again lay all responsiblility for their unhappiness back on the congregation, and encouraged that there are enough vocal members for headquarters to notice.

  here are some questions back to the wts.the israealites waited 40 years for the promise.

  how much longer must the "other sheep" follow you before they realize they are following the wrong shepherd?moses ran a gauntlet of miracles that pharoah could not match.

  Translation: Do we mindlessly lap up the flawed interpretation by uneducated, imperfect humans, of ancient writings? Really, manna in the desert for ancient Jews is the equivalent of the Watchtower to Jehovah's witnesses.

  probably dating myself, but remember all those assemblies/yearbooks, etc., that focused on the possibility that jws would suffer persecution at the hands of nazi-like regimes?

  i remember attending an assembly which dramatized jw's being held, as in wwii, as having to make a choice to either "renounce?

  Probably dating myself, but remember all those assemblies/yearbooks, etc., that focused on the possibility that JWs would suffer persecution at the hands of Nazi-like regimes? I remember attending an assembly which dramatized JW's being held, as in WWII, as having to make a choice to either "renounce?" their JWism or die. Those of you who remember those old "drama's" in baseball stadiums can probably remember. Well, in this particular "drama" one woman interrned decided to renounce her faith, but the other one didn't.

  Of course, the one who renounced her faith was taken out and shot by a firing squad.

  Question is: was this some sort of Cold War sydrome? Are JWs currently using this "dying for you faith" tactic? Will this kick up again as we''re at war, and at a war that, by our enemies insistence, seem to involve GOD?

  Welcome Nick! Thanks for sharing your story.

  I wouldn't get to hung up on the "demonic" teachings/books, whatever that you believed the society pushed. As most of us here have discovered, they are a cult developed and perpetrated by imperfect and insecure people, not really at all different from other cults.

  They DO put a lot of stock in "demonic" origins, which you might be carrying over. But in time, you'll see the big picture. It doesn't matter, for example, that they can try to prove birthdays and Chritmas had "Satanic/demonic" origins. What matters is how you relate to people, and celebrate life, today. You have two beautiful children: put things in their persepective once in a while, and you'll be okay...

  Oh, and on a related note, just opened the Wall Street Journal. And interesting Op-Ed piece points out how, ironically, Bob Woodward's new book actually shows Bush as a thoughtful, intelligent critical thinker with regard intelligence which he received.

  "Mr. Woodward describes a Decembers 2002 Oval Office meeting in which CIA Director George Tenent and a deputy brief the the President, National Security Adviser and White House Chief of Staff on the status of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction. Acoording to the Woodward account, so far undisputed, Mr. Bush responded to the presentation by calling it a "nice try" but "not something that Joe Public would understand or would gain a lot of confidence from."

  "The President continued, "I've been told all this intelligence about having WMD and this is the best we've got?" At which point Mr. Tenet is said to have thrown his hands in the air and remarked "It's a slam-dunk case!" Mr. Bush pressed again, "George how confident are you?" Mr. Tenet" Don't worry, it's a slam dunk!"

  "It isn't a shcok, of course, that the CIA believed Iraq possessed stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction. The Clinton Administration bombed Iraq for four days in December 1998 based on that assessment. Every other major intelligence agency in the world believed the sam. What in new is the Woodword account is the extent to which Mr. Bush appears to have been a thoughtful and critical consumer of such intelligence. The President reportedly told Mr. Tenant several times, "Make sure no one stretches this to make our case."

  ..."We suppose Mr. Bush can be faulted for his continuinly loyalty to Mr. Tenet in the face of faulty U.S. intelligence, but that's a subject for another day. the bottom line is that Mr. Woodward has revealed teh campaign to accuse Mr. Bush of lying about Iraq to be false. Let's be generous and say Messrs. Kennedy and Kerry and their media friends were themselves only "misleading" Americans about their accusation based on faulty information. But is they make the charge again we'll know that they are the ones who are lying."'

  Cracks me up that the Richard Clarke and Bob Woodward money-making books are only disproving the hysterical accusations about Bush.
