I can't beleive you guys too. My husband got a cavity recently, so we've been on a "floss every day" thing. Well, the cat thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread to pull the floss out of the garbage. Two mornings I've caught him with just a short string hanging out of his mouth. He has a weird look on his face, like "Hmm, now what?" So I pull and it just keeps coming and he gags a little. I guess it was all the way down in his stomach. That's scary the cat can die, CJ. Sorry to hear that.
And thanks for those hairball pics! I've seen that in one of my books. You know that psychological disease where humans pull their hairs out of their head? Trich-something. Well, I guess some eat it, and the illustration I saw was to show the dangers of this disease since humans can't digest it and I think it said it has to be surgically removed. Blah.

Landslide by Fleetwood Mac
"Well I been fraid of changes, cause I built my life around you...
But time makes your bolder, children get older, I'm getting older too."
Everyone can relate to that!
And I love that "Don't take the girl" song. This JW i had a crush on preteen/teenage years sang that song all the time, and it just blew me away.

What's the most thought-provoking novel you've ever read?
by lucky ini'd have to say for me that it was ayn rand's the fountainhead.
even though i don't agree with a lot of her philosophy, it definitely made me stumble around in a thought-induced haze for a few weeks after reading it.

Hey long hair, I'm reading Wuthering Heights right now!
I don't know if it was thought-provoking, but "She's Come Undone" by Wally Lamb really stuck with me for a while.

Children of the 80's!
by MelbaToast inalright, i admit, i was a child of the 80s (or what i can remember) but the real reason for this thread is i have noticed that there is quite a few of people on this site that are close to me in age or just a little bit younger or older.
i will be 28 in june.
i think that this period in my life is a deep questioning period, because at younger ages i didnt give a flip about anything jw or ex-jw for that matter.

Hey that's me too! We didn't have nintendo, too poor, but we did have Care Bears, Cabbage Patch (until they were declared demonized), etc.
Had a hand-me-down atari for a short time, we thought it was just great.

Dubs telling people who they should and should not marry.
by LongHairGal ini know of several experiences of couples who got married against the unwanted advice of the busybodies at the hall.
and i am not talking about a sixteen year old girl marrying a seventeen year old boy either!
these were people way over 30. .

Cybs, THere's no logic, of course. And I think those are like a congregation to congregation rules type of thing. Wow, that must have been an awful wedding with the poor girl crying in the backroom! How can the elders have possibly done that? And then she gets a divorce less than a year away???? Isn't a divorce worse than breaking off an engagement?
Grrrrr...

So I'm at the meeting tonight.............
by JV ini'm looking through the new awake magazine (great article on shoplifiting by the way) and this older sister comes and sits beside me.
she started talking to me about this great little piece in the magazine about fish or something that should be on my dinner plate, something that i don't really care about, then she turns to me and said and i quote " where else but jehovah's organization can we learn such things?
i sat there with a dumbfounded look on my face thinking " are you kidding me?

Hecklerboy: I'm 26 and also getting my masters in Nursing.
It's so true the ignorance. I didn't really get how bad it was until I took my worldly fiancee to one of the Memorials and they quoted a "UNIVERSITY STUDENT" as saying the magazines were some of the most interesting and mind-stimulating things he'd come across. My fiancee was like, HUH? That was one in millions of university students, probably one smoking something. Then I realized how silly those Awake magazine testimonials really were.
Yeah, when the Nov 1992 WT came out about education being okay, my older sister decided to become a nurse (community college) and the congregation was like "Gasp!". One other family that particularly ragged on us about it pulled all their kids out of school and home schooled them. The kids are okay today, but employed by the parents' personal small business since they really have no other skills.

Yes, my older sister, same thing. She was engaged, fiancee started showing his true colors, but she was told by him and others that engaged was as good as being married (Why just look at Mary and Joseph!) So she married him and thankfully they got a divorce 4 years later before they had any kids.
