Oh my God, that is disgusting. I'm so sorry for you. Your landlord should have paid for that pest control bill. I know we lived in a house in Florida growing up. When you keep seeing the critters, it means there's probably a whole nest of them nearby (like you saw in your basement). I think there was a nest of them below the floor of the lower cabinet in the kitchen, and once, when someone was mowing the backyard, they found the motherload living under some concrete blocks against the landlord's backyard shed. We kept telling our landlord, but he didn't really do anything to permenantly solve the problem. It was just so gross and awful. To this day, I am deathly afraid of roaches.

Cook at home or eat out?
by greendawn indo you know how to cook, even just a few simple recipes, or do you hate the idea of home cooking and prefer to always rely on restaurants and take aways, or just prepare easy snacks like sandwiches and melted cheese on toast?

I am trying to cook more since I discovered and joined the local Costco. I have like pounds and pounds of chicken thighs, so I have been digging up new recipies lately. Right now in the oven is chicken with rice/cranberries/almonds/barberries/lime and some Persian spices. Last night made a dish with a recipe from the newspaper with lots of mustard. It was really easy and really good. Probably $5 for the home cooked meal, would have been maybe $10-15 at the cheapest to go out. But lately we've also resorted to frozen pizzas since we're so busy.
Evil force: I have never seen you use the word hubby. It's cute.

Sunspot: You sound like a true fan, at the par of my husband who was so excited this morning, he was actually speechless, almost in tears. He just sat down on the sofa, his face red, and said "go look on the computer!" (he had the news article pulled up). He has Pink Floyd blasting now, from a 1981 concert, the last one where all four bandmembers were together.
Sith: I agree, all four of them together sound awesome. Too bad Syd can't join as well...

What was your breaking point?
by soundbox_guy inokay, i'm new as you all probably know, so my question may have been discussed several times in the past.
i'm just curious as to when some of you came to the conclusion that enough was enough and that you didn't want to attend the meetings anymore or not be a jw.
was it in field service, at home, at the hall?

I doubted for a long time, but one of the reasons I held on was because I thought, what are the chances that they predicted 1914 and that was the year of the first world war. Well, then I said, the only thing that would show me they were false is that they would somehow change the rules regarding the "within this generation". And they did.
(Also, I really wanted to go to college, and community college was turning out to be a waste of time, and after three years of taking about every class possible, I stil lcouldn't get a job.)
(Also this guy in the congregation who liked me and I turned him down, well, he killed himself. So then it was really awkward to go to the meetings, and I just wanted to get away.)
(And then my little sister got DF'd, and I just couldn't shun her, and I hated everyone who did so.)
So I moved off to a university town, and immediately realized the world didn't fall apart, and bad things weren't happening to me for leaving. Wow. I like being normal. So I stayed out.

Crumpet,
I'm the same as you! I think you posted about this before to me, but anyway, I too always think my husband is staying late at work with some girl, etc. It really drives you crazy, I know.
I am not so sure the lady was giving her clothes to send any message to YOU, does she even know you?
But in your favor, he should have definetly reassured you, over and over again that things are okay, he is not cheating. I think it was totally rude and awful of him to tell you to stop talking after your class. How awful not to be able to express your concerns and fears. And so so rude of him to make a comment about your weight.
One thing that did help my situation a bit is that I told my husband that it really pisses me off when I or he comes home and he doesn't even greet me with a hug and kiss. It makes me feel like I'm not the thing on his mind. So he agreed at my suggestion to have a mandatory "greeting" every morning and night. (A hug and kiss am and pm, and a hug and kiss when he comes home from work, not associated with sex.) I still have to remind him, "Hey, where's the meet and greet?" and then he smiles and hugs me, but it still helps me a bit. sometimes guys are totally stupid emotionally, and you have to lead them by the hand and tell them what to do.
I know it's my own self-esteem too, and I need to work on that.

Jojo,
If you need extra help, the patch is supposed to be great. The chances of quitting for good are way high on the patch versus cold turkey. So if you can afford it, I would get it. Congratulations on 2 days!!!!!!!!!!
