i was trying to fade, and thought i had done so successfully for the past 18months.. i have just received a call from my dad saying it will be announced tomorrow that i have been disfellowshipped... can they do this???.

So sorry you are going through this. I hope you are able to stop those guys. They're out of control. They sort of did it the old way, I guess, with my sister by sending her a registered letter saying if you don't show up to this judicial committee at this time and date, you are automatically disfellowshipped. And she was df'd just like that. I've drifted for about 4 or 5 years. I know my mom has called the elders on me too, but thank goodness, in the town I was living in, they were like, lady, we don't care, we don't even know her. So it is really different with each town. Good luck with the legal action if you go that route. Maybe it will stall/scare them off.

today is my husband, rocker-dudes, birthday!.

he is 41 which is quite disturbing for someone with heavy metal coursing through his veins...he was never supposed to pass 21. .

your 'condolences' would be most appreciated... .

Happy Birthday! You're not old: did you see some of those "rockers" on the Live8? They looked much older than 41 (ie: pink floyd...) but they're still as awesome as ever.

my history,.

47 years doing the jw thing from the age of 3.. many good times and many times i thought i was worthless especially as a teenager.

couldn't be good enough to please some elders.

Welcome, we love free thinkers! So did the CO say that at a convention or in the KH? It's funny, the more they say it, the more people drop by! I used to think coming to a site like this would be the ultimate sin and there would be awful things. Now it's just laughable.

i want to discuss my experiences with the witnesses.

how it began: i was recruited during the time i was escaping from a violent husband to a shelter.

a witness came to my door as i was preparing to move during the day without him knowing (while he was at work).

Wow, what an experience. Yeah, it seems so many are recruited at a low point in their lives. My mom was too.

AFter reading your post, I'm like"no wonder mom is always telling me that men like to feel like they're in the lead and that they're naturally needing to feel that, so we shouldn't take that away from them." (referring to me and my husband arguing.) She's been saying that a lot lately. She too came in in the late 70's early 80's with the Truth book and the "Family Life" book (green one.)

Help me handle this louser

hi everyone just had another situation wanted to know your all opnion on how to deal with this one.

here goes..... i got a dozen roses with ballons the other day at work and it had type written on the card " to someone special ?

"that was on friday.... i called my x and ask others if they sent them to me and everyone said no......including my co workers then tuesday when i went to work, the florist brought me another dozen roses with a teddy bear and said he forgot to bring me the teddy bear on friday so he had a dozen roses a teddy bear and ballons again and the card read " thinking of you".... again didnt know who sent it... i talk to a co worker who is trying to make the moves on me and he said " do you want me to tell you the truth?

Yeah, what those girls said. Just stay away, sounds like a real weirdo. Thank god youd didn't get more involved, Cupcake.

Next time he brings it up, just say, yeah, thanks, it's so nice to have a pleasant bouquet once in a while. And sort of cut the conversation short like you're kind of bored. Keep your conversations with him as short and boring as possible. No drama. Get rid of this guy asap. And sorry to his girlfriend, but hopefully she's seen the light too.

I just hate when they paint "this world" as going "downhill" and what horrors are in store for our children. First of all, the world is not going downhill. It's same old Sh*t, different day. Don't let them paint that picture and let you feel guilty about your kid's future. It's just silly.

Also, don't so many religions use Jehovah's name? Especially the pentecostal ones and such?

That's so funny about you scrambling about when the JW came to your back porch. Brings back memories of "Mom-proofing" my room in college when she came to visit. There would be always something I forgot. Put away the pictures of me and boyfriend, me drunk, holiday decorations, and short skirts, but forgot to put away the package of birth control pills! Oops.

Trying to get people to "support" pioneers!

this was one topic that used to make me furious!

here the bible makes it perfectly clear that back then they supported their own ministry by working.

there is also the scripture about "counting the cost" implying that one should not undertake any project without making an assessment as to whether or not they could do it.

Ah, my favorite subject.

Doubtfully yours, not so fast. Though some help out the pioneers when they have to, it certainly isn't like the high life. My mom was the "single mom pioneer" and we got help, but not that much. Sure, my mom definetly should have gone back to school, or moved close to her parents, or worked full time, but instead she chose to pioneer. But people were certainly not shoving money in our pockets. I'm grateful for all the help they did give, though.

It' is annoying though. I was talking about this on an earlier post. Do you continue supporting them when you aren't a JW anymore, but they are related to you? Anyone would help out a relative in need, but if that relative is Choosing to be in need...

But anyway, it's complicated.

First time on here- DF'd almost 3 years ago

i have toyed around with the idea of finding fellow df'd ones for about a year now.

i recently got married, and of course it has made me look at how it feels like i gave up one life for another.

the only member of my family who is a jw is my mother- and it kills me that we pretty much no longer have a relationship.

Welcome! My husband is non JW, which is good, but bad too. It helps so much to have people who understand our background.

the first blow came the first christmas after i was disfellowshipped.

my boyfriend was gone with his family, so i had asked my mom if she wanted to spend the day together (like we used to do before i was df'd).

watch a movie, make some food.

So good to hear your story. Your mom sounds like my mom. Alienating people, and then sad that she doesn't have people to talk to and count on. That's a tough situation for you. I would think, when the time comes, your mom will talk to the elders, and they will say it's okay to live with/rely on your daughter because you have no choice. Who knows, all the elders are different. And I'm glad for your dad that he has the joy that you arent' a JW anymore. Welcome to the board.

ok im not crazy.

but ive had dreams of getting into accidents in my truck 3 times(has happened 3 times).

something bad like theft happening to this girl at work at night time(happened recently, she lost 500 bucks).

Haha, cute, Tsunami, "It's called Jehovahs Witnesses".

I have so many vivid dreams. I agree, though that they just tell us about our psychological stressors. I also have noticed they help me imagine things they way I want them to turn out. Don't worry about it too much, maybe you're worried about those things in your life, so you dream about them at night.

I have one dream that I started having as a teenage JW. It was when I was having doubts and I wanted to move off to college because I was just so bored studying and going out in service. I will dream that I am so bored and my life is so empty that I have nothing to dream about. Isn't that weird? I've had that dream so many times as a teen, and a few times recently. It's a horrible feeling.

And recently I'm reading about how to treat high blood pressure and I dream that I have a patient and they have high blood pressure and I don't know what medicine to prescribe. It was like a real nightmare. Scary.
