Adults fall over themselves to delineate how 14 year olds are know-it-alls that bear no cognitive merit or recognition, have no insight into anything, source no legitimate complaints or observations about the religious system and logic into which their parents have raised them, and can be answered with a pat assurance by an elder or two or three who just remind them to (what the &%&^% ever they say) and just (wait on whoever) or (whatever) (you can fill in all these ad libs). The role of a 14 year old is to shut the hell up about any inconsistencies they observe, and deceitful or concerning patterns they detect, and falsities they hear with their very own ears, and hypocrisies they see with their very own eyes. The role of a fourteen year old is to be told they don't know what the hell they're talking about when they read up on the latest -at the time- scientific journals about theories of parallel universes and many worlds and multiverse, which raise the spectre of multiple iterations of a deity-like-Jehovah-type for each and every of those parallel planes of existence. The science fiction section of the school library could not have been big enough to provide the salve to cover the open wound of life bleeding out, day in day out, from loss of opportunity to use one's mind, loss of opportunity to develop long term relationships with real humans of one's own age, loss of opportunity to travel the world as if it was here to be experienced, etc etc etc. Science fiction does all that for someone that cowers in the cult.

The 7/14 APOSTATE study articles are preparing the rank and file for new light!
by ADJUSTMENTS ini believe the last two wt studies in the 7/14 wt study articles were planned for this exact time and did not come about by happenstance... the jw cult is preparing the rank and file for some faith altering "new light" to be announced fairly soon, and these scare tactics will do just the trick.... the articles are preparing the rank and file to become apostataphobic, they have the rank and file in such a frenzy, even have them questioning themselves and their own motives for being in the borg!.
with paragraphs like:.
if you hear someone that has doubts or questions about the borg avoid them like the plague, and tell your local elders, but don't judge them!!!.

""Still, when exposed to unscriptural teachings..." - notice this method of brainwashing, they call apostate teachings, 'unscriptual teachings'. It's interesting that all ex jw's, it's based on the WT teachings not scriptual teachings. Infact the WT is what publishes 'unscriptual teachings', so everybody should reject the WT as it's apostate with it's unscriptual teachings. However they have people spun and convinced that bringing out the unscriptual teachings of the WT, and studying the bible by itself is apostacy, somehow the WT has become the bible and the bible itself has become 'unscriptual'."
This reminds me of the book (Paradise?) with the illustration of the Early Church (Catholics?) burning a man for reading the Bible, with the Bible chained around his neck. Very visceral. This article's language is very threatening concerning reading your own copy of a book you paid for and using 'god-given' reasoning on those scriptures, whose general jist should be public domain if ever there was one.

Do you think JWs know what apostates really are?
by KateWild inmy friend was slagging off one of my other friends saying they have been known to say apotate things.
she does apostate things herself without realising it.
she meant well because she fears the word apostate as i once did, but she openly says to me my jc was lacking in holy spirit.. she doesn't have a clue what apostacy really is she just wants me not to mix with ones who have been known said "apostate things".

I had to go doing some fast googling on why real, non-biblical, non-JW, dogs eat their vomit. The reasons are evolutionary and credible. The wrinkled farts of course cannot possibly relinquish so inhumanely abusive an analogy, nor could they bother to search out the truth of such a behavior so strange to humans. Unfortunately, I didn't quickly locate a single perfect web resource with obvious and appropriate credentials that credibly resolves this question, so I have nothing to link. But I encourage googling this question.

wearewatchingyouman, you sound like a statistical outlier, and while your example may be noteworthy it won't be representative. I only heard of one ex-JW that joined the Services out of many that got disfellowshiped, DA'ed, faded, etc.
My two degrees and 40 years do not equip me to understand how forcing or tabling an issue, however indeterminant the outcome, is a bad thing. If JWs are so stupid as to read the pain language of that statement, and then say, "Gee, I don't agree that this is the case at all as I shun my family member and forbid this other a transfusion and forbid this other an education commensurate with inflation", then, *How were you going to coax them out in the first place?
I admit I have never attempted to coax out a JW or play naive or be patient. My biological relatives are all under powerful senior elder thumbs and are beyond the event horizon.
I agree there is no inherent obligation to aid JWs to get out. The ecology of memes is red in tooth and claw. I do not believe in a divine power or any other higher calling that demands rescuing victims of a cult, but rather a heartless universe that couldn't care less how many are born in the cult and die in old age. I can lean left on some issues, and this one seems an appropriate issue to address by some kind of intervention, however minimal. It's not me who decides what degree of federal or big government involvement that is, but, here's a statement and it's plausible it might be seen at a level that triggers oversight, on this issue or some other issue.

Wearewatchingyouman: by your logic human rights exist solely in the context of the threat of violence. Meaning, JWs have a basic human right to not be dragged physically to a meeting, dragged physically into a door-to-door sales and proselytizing effort, dragged physically to the gates of the city and banished from friends and family, etc. I agree that those are great human rights to have. It's fortunate for your logic that JWs do not threaten the violence of having their eyeballs picked out by vultures and flesh falling away. It's also fortunate for your logic that every single JW that ever existed grew up out in the world to a mature thinking ability, understood the difference between emotional coercion, emotional abuse, the threat of abandonment, even as minors, and the threat of violence, so that, on that one fine day they mistakenly found themselves, whoops, as a baptized JW, they were very clear headed about what constituted their basic human right to refuse to do this or that thing, which may not make sense to them, and the threat of violence.
May I have the honor of hearing how long, and from what age, you were in this "Just a stupid religion"?

Buffalo were utterly peaceful before the Fall, and would use their hefty horns to plow furroughs in the ground and scrape seeds into it. But they turned into killers. Here we see buffalo cleverly and deliberately sneaking up on an unsuspecting lion by minding their own business and appearing tasty.

I had to finish a BA in Literature and a BS in Astronomy before I felt minimally comfortable sharing this otherwise very embarrassing aspect of my experience. I still get a sense of panic when I relate as best I can what being a JW was like, but the 'worldy' listener just doesn't swallow their tongue on the spot, or have a coronary on the spot, or an aneurism on the spot, which tells me I am not communicating totally or effectively, and it's like I still have a gag in my mouth. You cannot shove 25 years of JW Auschwitz into an innocent 'worldly' person's comprehension. So, embarrassing.
