that is the best explanation I've ever heard about the original laws on blood.
Thanks

Eating Blood.
by refiners fire ini was just reading the sept 15, 1960 watchtower,an article entitled.
"the sanctity of blood".
the article was mainly about eating blood and listed numerous very nasty practises such as leaving blood in meat to make it heavier, (hence less "meat" for your money)and not draining blood out of carcasses quickly enough.. this prompted a thought.. gods law on blood being so important to witnesses, and the practises of butchers indifferent to gods law being what they are..... why does the organization allow its members to eat meat purchased from the "world"?.

Get Out More / Questionaire.
by Englishman inis it true that americans are the least travelled people in the world?
if that is the case, its hardly surprising when you read all the dire warnings contained inside a us passport.
also, i am told that americans regard the rest of the world as a very dangerous place to be.

expatbrit:
I disagree:
Although I've never traveled to Europe, your opinion about the differences in culture between the US states is wrong!
I can see major differences between even South Florida and North Florida, South Georgia and North Georgia, Tennessee is very different than North Carolina. The people and culture in the Western part of North Carolina are very different than the people and culture in the piedmont(central)section of the state.
So you will know:
I've traveled extensivley through the US, spending weeks at a time at various locations particularliy in the Southeastern US. I've spent time in lots of other US states as well including:
California
Nevada
Texas
Illinois
Ohio
New York
Maryland
Kentucky
countries:
Canada
Mexico
OK, so I've never left North America. I would venture to say that there is more difference between Miami, FL and Pensacola, FL, than there is between Buffalo, NY and Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
But then again, I'm just a blindfool!! -

If so here's one:A church gets a new minister and everyone tells the minister about a beautiful young church member named Tudy Green.
As the minister is finishing up his first sermon he notices a lovely young lady sitting on the first row of the church.
After the sermon, as the minister is about to finish the service, he indicates the young lady and asks the decon with him, "brother, is that Tudy Green?"
The decon replies, "Naw preacher, its just the way the lights hitting it!" -

This reminds me of the hall my wife attends. I've gone with her on and off for the last 13 years.
Sometimes it looks like musical chairs, this brother is now married to this sister who used to be married to that brother over there. It could make your head spin.
Don't get me wrong, I see some who have been married for a long time, including my wife and I, 18 years. But some of these others...wow! -

Not that it really matters, just thought those overseas might find it interesting.
I do some business with the prison where this execution will take place. Its a beautiful setting with a lake and green grass surrounding a huge facility.
To enter the prison you must be seached and go through a metal detector, all of your belonging including breifcases and catalogs are searched. You must give the guard your drivers licence and car keys and you collect them on your way out. No cell phones or pagers are allowed inside the prison.
The entire prisons sits behind a aprox. 50 foot burm and you enter the prison from a tunnel.
Its feels alot better coming out than going in,thats for sure.
No sales visits are allowed during weeks when an execution is scheduled.By the way the Georgia procedure for administering the death penality was changed last year from the electric chair to letal injection.
I'm not sure what the state of Georgia did with their electric chair, known as "old sparky."

celebrating the death of Jesus
by blindfool inam i the only one bothered by the way the jw's refer to the memorial as a celebration of the death of jesus?.
i understand that jesus said to keep the tradition of the last meal, but should it be referred to as a celebration?
this should be a solemn occasion and not one we would look forward to celebrating.

Thanks for the picture Mr.B.
What a strange thing to be so happy about taking a glass of wine and passing it on without partaking.
And then as Pierced Angel says, everyone goes to eat at Applebees or somewhere similar. Maybe wine is ordered at dinner to satisfy the thirst for the wine that was refussed at the KH. I wonder if anyone orders unleavened bread? And its never mentioned at the memorial (at least I don't remember it being mentioned)that on the third day Jesus was raised from the dead. I asked about this once and was told that the resurection was only a validation of the sacrifice.
