it comes up from time to time: that the wt's "constant pleas for money" signifies their precarious financial state due to the pressure of the csa settlements.
is there any way of demonstrating that to be a fact?
i ask because i've always been under the impression that "constant pleas for money" is the default state of the organisation, possibly going back to rutherford's time.

When my husband was a ministerial servant, he was told to be sure to read from the platform the letters from the WTS thanking the congregation for their donations; it was a backdoor way of encouraging them to give donations so it would seem like the WTS was not nagging them to contribute...serioiusly

'many survivors of clergy sexual abuse have never received an apology or any acknowledgement of the harm they suffered.
but at the may 3, 2024, meeting of the general conference of the worldwide united methodist church in charlotte, north carolina, the following resolution of apology to all survivors and their families was approved.. .
“the united methodist church apologizes for the times we allowed our desire to protect the church to outweigh our desire to care for victims and survivors of sexual misconduct.
The WTS looks at things very legalistically, "Pharisees" the lawyers per the WTS, 3 fingers pointing back at them. Since the WTS is fighting to establish the premise that they, the WTS, have no responsibility in their policy (behind the scenes they think) of hiding child sexual abuse (or any kind of child abuse) It's Deny, deny, deny. If the WTS hangs out the victims telling them and their parents, they should be willing to take the pain rather than make the WTS look bad to outsiders.
we've got some really knowledgeable members on here so i have a question for them and everybody.
what was the earliest adjective used to describe the snake of genesis 3:1?
currently one can read words in english translations like 'cunning' and 'crafty'....but in other languages you see words like 'wise' and astute...which convey a completely different idea.. i'm wondering what may have been the earliest and most accurate adjective known or used.
Rattigan350,, good point, no Mosaic Law then, no need for 2 so-called perfect people. My husband always wondered why a perfect person would talk to a snake, ignorant it must be something else.
it's already may 22, 2024 in kiritimati.. .
Rattigan350, I have said in the past to "hang them with their own words".

i apologize if this post ends up in the wrong place.
i have been a lurker here for several years.
i thoroughly enjoy this site, have for years, and read something or another on this site many times a week.
I understand how it was the lack of the love Jesus talked about that made me finally realize that the WTS had it wrong. I was at a circuit assembly, and after a "enlightening" talk in the morning, I told my husband I was going home and not getting involved any more in anything sponsored by the WTS. Lack of love = me gone; just stopped going, talked to no one about why, "a personal matter" or a serious health issue, personal. It has been 23 years and I have kept my word. Glad to hear that things on here have helped. I found Simon's DB when I was in my confused state. It helped on the way to research myself and reconfirmed my position over and over and over. Glad to hear you have been able to put to rest some of the confusion. Love, Blondie
how many of you bought a nice sedan, suv, or even a minivan back in the days that you described as your "armageddon car" that you would care for and it would last until the end arrived?.
i was driving a 1974 plymouth volare wagon in 1992 when i managed to get an 8-year old buick century.
it was low mileage and had a very luxurious interior.
Rivergang, can you point me to the comment in the W68 on In their wisdom, sometime in 1968 the WTS declared that “Now was not the time to be hiding behind Matthew 24:44” (The article was entitled “Why are you looking forward to 1975?”).
