Thanks for finding that FFGhost, I knew there was something older on JWN.

JW Ranking System
by NotFormer init's fairly evident to little old outsider me that the organisation has a class system, perhaps even a caste system.. from what i've read, there seems to not only be an official ranking system (m.s., elder, c.o.
) but an unofficial one.
has anyone ever sat down to figure out what the unofficial ranks are and how they affect the pecking order?

"whitewashing the outside of the cup" good analogy from their own bible.

Marking has it's merits IMO
by enoughisenough init would appear the context about marking has to do with those who are not working to feed themselves, but meddling in others business.
a couple more scrptures to think about.
jesus said not to throw your pearls before swine.

Good?...not if you are the one marked, by an individual (it's supposed to be their personal judgment, but then they tell others to do the same) and not using the name...well, the jws excel in gossiping, the real version or their "expanded" one with few facts). It is not a good thing.

August WT: DF'ing renamed "Removed." AKA: GB re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic
by WingCommander inso: the mystery has been clarified as to more "new light" / clarifications of decades old doctrine and procedure.

I posted on another OP, I agree, it is just semantics, redefining a word, like "mentally diseased." The WTS does this often, like "overlapping generation" to explain why the lifetime of the anointed can be expanded past the 1914 generation. But members don't dare say anything because they might "be shown the door."

Who told the first lie?
by nicolaou inthis is a continuation of the discussion which sprang from an unrelated topic.. so according to genesis, who told the first lie?
god told eve that if she ate from the tree of knowledge she would die that very same day.
in response to that statement the devil told her she would not die.. eve ate from the tree and did not die.

I think Satan told the first lie based on the bible's account.

Why the term "disfellowshipped " was removed

DF replaced with "remove." Just semantics, results just the same in experience. Of course, jws are not being held personally accountable for avoiding such jws, not the WTS, it's a conscience matter (right!)

So a JW can date an unbelieving person...
by silentbuddha inbut the entire congregation is not to be informed or mark the person.
the only repercussions are that the individual who is aware of it can decide to "mark" them and not go to the local club or bar with the individual, but they are still obligated to go door to door in the ministry with them, and even speak to them at the kn as if nothing is wrong and not feel obligated to tell anyone else?
this is crazy.. so they are also basically saying that a person can carry on a romantic (but none sexual) relationship with an unbeliever and still go out in service and participate in meetings?

I agree DOC
That is a big change.
a person can carry on a romantic (but none sexual) relationship with an unbeliever and still go out in service and participate in meetings
That is an even bigger change. In the past, a person could be DF for continuing a relationship with an unbeliever (required multiple warnings re: marry only in the Lord). (The jw could only be df'd if evidence of sexual activity between them. But they are being for that offense not dating a non-jw.)

I saw this in my morning jw news segment. Yay! May many more be found out and charged and found guilty and sent to prison. (and that's just the elders who conceal those people's crimes). More bad news for the WTS and expensive too.

Greeting a person(who was removed from the congregation) at the Kingdom Hall now becomes a matter of conscience
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe watchtower—study edition | august 2024. help for those who are removed from the congregation.
14 does what we have considered mean that we would completely ignore a person who has been removed from the congregation?
not necessarily.

Yes, you can "greet" them, the WTS says after they have changed their meaning of greet with a reference to a scripture used before to support not greeting them. Typical WTS ploy.
