Another example of JW Kindness

i am really really upset right now.

i just got off of the phone with my jw sister, who lives in seattle.. she just recently moved there last summer when she married her husband, tim.

lara, my sister, is a jw and her husband is not.

AMarie, did you ask for the $700 back then...I would think she wouldn't want any association with that dirty money, touched by a DF'd person.

What kind of relationship did you have with her before your being DF'd? If it was strained then, you can kiss the money goodbye and chalk it up to "no good deed goes unpunished." Or you can think of it as also helping your brother-in-law who is not a JW (do you talk with him?).

You can chalk this up to September 11 and a guilty conscience. She was willing to "disobey God" when she thought the "end" was far away.

how many here have pioneered?.

be honest, what was predominantly on your mind, telling people this wonderfull good news or was it counting time?.

an elder once said to me, "you know, it's strange how when pioneers quit pioneering, they're hours don't stay the same, they don't gradually diminish and they don't even drop by half... they drop practically to nothing.".

Armed Security to be at Oct 7 event

...at least at the one in my state.

found out that they read a letter sunday at one of the congregations going to the october 7 meeting.

there will be hired armed security guards with metal detectors at the door, everyone will have to go through before being allowed in.. they also said that you're not allowed to bring in any bags like lunch coolers, and that you may be physically searched.

That should keep the recording devices out unless they're pretty sophiscated.

Ridiculous trips to the 'back room'

the posts in the elders meeting thread got me thinking about this, so i've spun it off for into another thread.. were you ever 'counseled' because "some" in the congregation were disturbed by things you said/did/listened to/watched?.

here is just some of the stupid stuff that the elders brought me in on.

though they were usually handled through shepherding calls, not in the back room at the kh.. 1: because i decided to change my first and middle names.

Simon, I guess that is one way of seeing if people are serving humans who can be fooled and God who cannot be fooled. It's an organization of men pleasers.

That's because pioneers "run the race" like it is a 100 yard dash (the end is soon) instead of the marathon (26.2 miles) it really is.

Hebrews 12:1 ***
let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

It's an endurance race and everyone who finishes wins. Instead, it can become a competition, and people decide to pioneer with the view that the end is only a few years away (like a 100-yard dash) rather than the lifelong commitment serving God really is (like a 26.2 mile marathon).

Runners train differently for a 100-yard dash than for a marathon. Too many pioneers are training for a short race and their strength gives out after a few years and all their energy is gone...so it's 70 (was 100) hours to nothing.

not being as dramatic as some of them out there still thought i would share:).

i was born a jw as my mom was raised one from the time she was a toddler.

IS THERE A CURE?
The murder of three young boys, two of them sexually abused, in the Western United States has fueled a growing debate over whether habitual child molesters can be cured or not. The man charged in the murders had repeatedly been sentenced to sexual counseling for committing crimes against children. Prior to being arrested for the three murders, he had completed eight months of counseling by a psychologist who himself had spent 13 years in prison as a drug smuggler and armed robber. “Anybody can hang a shingle and call themselves a therapist,” the head of the Association for the Behavioral Treatment of Sex Abusers complains in The New York Times. The Times notes that more and more health-care professionals are concluding that “some habitual child molesters are basically incurable and should be locked up for life.”

Another comment from a friend:

Counseling for child molesters doesn't work for the simple reason that these people have a sexual preference toward children. No matter how many years of counseling an individual receives, this will not change their sexual preference. It could be compared to putting a heterosexual person through 20 years of counseling to try and change their preference to homosexual (of course this is 2 consenting adults which pedophilia is not). This is simply not going to happen.

So do not expect any pedophiles (or child molesters) to change in this system MMM. Only in the "new system" that JWs hope for on earth, is there a chance these people can change permanently.
