Saving "mark" on forehead: A CROSS?
by Terry inezekiel 9:4.
“go throughout the city of jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it.”
in the script used during old testament times it was either in x shape or a + shape.

waton, I found it on the Watchtower Online Library. https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1102017189#h=3:0-27:0 (Interesting the old congregation book study is a discussion of every updated, clarified, adjusted teaching of the WTS). I looked at a couple, and it seems that the WTS has a lot of house cleaning to attempt.

waton, that is interesting as to the slant the WTS is putting on the "mark for survival." Of course, the WTS has said that status at baptism has to be maintained until when "armageddon" breaks out, not "once saved, always saved" other religions teach. I will look that up, which book is that? I notice in 2017 the WTS said this: "
The great crowd will receive the mark when they are judged as sheep during the great tribulation"
(That makes sense based on what they have said previously about the mark. The WTS teaches that when the great tribulation breaks out (GT) that ends the possibility of people being baptized as jehovah's witnesses, and jws then being judged by god as being really qualified. (just reporting not supporting). The time between the GT and armageddon then will be a period of time that supposedly the governments will try to get rid of all religion, even try to destroy jws. Is this confusing, yes, especially if you have to edit previous statements the WTS has said about Ezekiel 9. The WTS even teaches that "anointed" jws must be faithful until their death to be rewarded with being resurrected to heaven. Thanks for sharing that update, can you point me to where that was said?)

No beards...even Jesus! Strange Watchower rule for brothers!
by Witness 007 inwatchtower 1954 p.511 "why do watchtower publications now show jesus with short hair and no beard?
because he is shown that way in older representations of him that are older then the traditional effeminate looking pictures.".
watchtower 1968 p.286 "bible evidence and a recent review shows that jesus did have a beard..." charles russell style of beard was popular at bethel...till rutherford took over.

I don't think Jesus would have been df'd, but he certainly would have had his "privileges" taken away, unless he started going around telling people in the congregationthat the elders were "making the word of God invalid because of their traditions." I guess the bible says he did, and the religious leaders then had him put to death--the WTS says df'ing is like being killed, according to the WTS capital offenses under the Law code were ones punished by execution. Of course, under the Law code, men were supposed to have beards. (This reminds me again of how the WTS conveniently applies a scripture to support their ideas)

Vidqun, "Hi Blondie, good to hear from you. According to context, first and foremost application should belong to those earmarked to survive the Babylonian occupation, especially the destruction of Jerusalem. " I'm not trying to disprove the WTS belief on this, just that the WTS is deceptive when they say they don't teach that only jws will survive Armageddon, and because they say the "mark" for survival is baptism as one of jws. I understand that the context is totally different, but then the WTS has almost always ignored the context of any scripture they use to support their strange beliefs.

Anyone else remember the Awake saying this?
by BottanicPepper ini may have put this in the wrong thread.
if so, i'm sorry.. my conundrum is this.... i am almost completely certain that an awake back in the 80's/90's mentioned a group of rock bands we shouldn't listen to and i seem to remember them actually naming guns and roses.. i can't find anything now, and i'm wondering if it's the mandela effect, or if it's another case of the cdrom versions of the awakes being doctored again.. does anyone else remember this?
or am i crazy?

When in Vancouver, BC, I heard a talk given by a DO who was upset that some young jws had gone to a Guns and Roses concert instead of his talk. He compared going to that concert like eating some decaying raspberries. That was over 25 years ago and I still remember that.

Watchtower publication says in Paradise we will fly around like Superman!!
by Witness 007 ingolden age aug 25th 1926 p.751 "negative gravitation...you may have wondered how accidents will be avoided in christ's kingdom, since we are told nothing will hurt or destroy.
scientist tell us there is enough atomic energy in one finger nail to propell a battleship.
the people of the future may carry some of this power with them.

Haha, I bet the WTS wishes those articles would disappear. They tended to reflect the crazy ideas floating around in the world at that time, and were plucked out and put in a WT publication by the editor of the Awake/Golden Age especially. Most did not survive to today. I found this very interesting when I was doing my research on the flood and past teachings by the WTS. Here is a good Post by VM: "
Isaac Newton Vail wrote some books and pamphlets about
the canopy theory as the source of the waters of the Great
Flood. He published several books and pamphlets describing
his "Earth's Annular Ring" idea, and even published a
magazine called "Annular World".While Vail may not have been the first to use the Flood myths
of various cultures to prove the existence of a world covering
flood, he probably was the first to use the myths to try and
prove that the Earth was covered by a ring of water. The Watchtower endorsed Vail's ideas for decades, Rutherford
even wrote that "It seems to have been the plan of Jehovah
God to begin the increase of light upon his great work for
the benifit of man about the year 1874 A.D. It was in that year that
Isaac N. Vail first publihsed a pamphlet entitled 'The Earth's
Annular System'." (page 29, Creation 1927) Rutherford then devotes
about 6 or 7 pages to Vail's Annular theory, even including a
diagram of the earth and it's annular system.I believe that Vail's ideas even appear in the Watchtower book,
"Paradise" book published in 1959, although Vail is not mentioned
by name in the book. The Vailian theory was never considered by mainstream science, as
it violated basic laws of orbital mechanics. It appears that
any such cloud canopy containing enough vapor required by the Flood would result in an earth temperature too high to support life.
(Temperate climate indeed!)After teaching the Vail like ideas about 100 years, all the WT
now says is that "it is best not to speculate." But the WT still
uses cultural Flood myths as an "anthropological" proof for the
Great Flood.A good web article about the Vailian canopy theory is:
"The Demise and Fall of the Water Vapor Canopy: A Fallen Creationist Idea" by Glenn R. Morton

Watchtower says you can be Disfellowshiped for being Fat!
by Witness 007 inwatchtower 1974 p.167 "by disobediently over indulging in food and making a glutton of himself he shows no love for jehovah..in the presents of others does he ignore their needs and selfishly take more then his fair share?
is he grossly overweight gorging himself?
does he feel uncomfortable even getting sick...this person has no place in the congregation of god...they will not inherit gods kingdom.".
-
blondie
This is it: being fat is not proof of gluttony. Gluttons can be thin, but it is how you deal with food. I knew someone that when invited to dinner, when food was passed, would put the whole platter/bowl on his plate without any regard to others being able to eat at the table. The same is with gossip/slander intent to create bad has to be proved, motive/intent. If you have/had ever looked around at a meeting/conventions, there are a lot of big jws, and there has not been an increase in df'ings for being overweight. But I'm sure some elders applied this with a heavy hand in their congregation (even the overweight eldersl).
