The New Busy Work
by NotFormer infor a hundred years the slaves were kept from having the time and energy to question anything and associate anywhere where they might be exposed to alternative views by having to keep up the busy work of going door to door.
that avenue is drying up.
and policy is changing.. the wt needs new busy work to keep the sheep engaged without thinking.. the wt fancies itself as an up and coming movie studio.

I have some questions about the Org.!
by KerryKing inare any or all of the gb from jewish descent?.
why are they so fascinated with following ancient jewish 'principles' ?.
isa 43:10, 44:8 ' you are my witnesses ' which they based their religious identity on, jehovah's witnesses, yet those verses address the jews, not christians, which they profess to be.. jesus said in ac 1:8 'you will be witnesses of me ', .

As a sidepoint, in the New Testament, no where can you find "witnesses of Jehovah" "Jehovah's witnesses" but you will find "witnesses of Jesus" and "witness to Jesus" all over. The WTS in the past has said that in Isaiah 43:10-12, literal jews were being talked about, but that it "foreshadowed" the anointed members of the WTS, as spiritual Israelites.
1950 At this time there is only a small remnant of spiritual Israelites (that only they are of the "Israel of God."
1950 He is not only preparing his remnant of spiritual Israelites for membership in the heavenly kingdom of the new heavens. He is also preparing, the great crowd of “other sheep”, for the visible society of the new earth.
Gradually, the WTS started calling the non-spiritual Israelites (or the great crowd of other sheep) Jehovah's witnesses, and left out the part that there were no witnesses of Jehovah in the New Testament, only witnesses of Jesus. The WTS has gradually put "Jehovah" to the forefront and made Jesus only an object used for the ransom sacrifice. I compared how often the name of Jesus appears in WTS publications compared to using Jehovah, and it was amazing, about 20 to 1 difference, especially in their "kingdom" songs. Even in Acts it says that Jesus' followers came to be known as "Christians" not Jehovah's witnesses. (Acts 11:26) After he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year they assembled with them in the congregation and taught quite a crowd, and it was first in Antioch that the disciples were by divine providence called Christians.

Has The Interpretation of the Beast Changed?
by NotFormer inmy understanding* is that the un is supposed to be the wild beast of revelation.
the un only came into being after wwii, so what was the beast before the new light came about?
i can't see a speculative organisation like the wt not having an interpretation of the beast before the un came into being.

Consider how the United Nations and its predecessor, the League of Nations, have fulfilled the Bible’s prophecy of the scarlet-colored beast. (ijwbq article article 100)
WT May 2022 p.10 Yes, Jehovah will motivate the nations to use the scarlet-colored wild beast, that is, the United Nations, to turn on the world empire of false religion and completely destroy it

JW profit from disasters
by enoughisenough insome time back i questioned about jw making money from doing relief work for disasters.
i found this story on reddit and also noted some of the replies.
it makes me wonder how many would have left their own jobs and paid their way, giving free labor and some supplying free materials if they had know what was going on behind the scenes.

Donations for relief do not go directly to the people affected by the disaster; all funds must go to the GB/WTS, all, not just for disaster relief, then the WTS/GB decides what the money will be used for, not just disaster relief. "Donations for a specific relief effort are gratefully accepted. However, it is preferred that such donations be made to the worldwide work of Jehovah’s Witnesses, since monies are drawn from this fund as the need arises." WT August 2006 p.23-25 Endnote

Can you openly express doubts in the congregation these days?
by Elena ini know of a lovely old sister who has been a jw for several decades now who openly expresses doubts about jw interpretations.. she does it in such a lovely way and everyone loves her.
she is such a sweet old soul, makes everyone happy around her.. she has said things like- even if we have got it wrong about this and that i still believe the bible is gods word”.
she answers up regularly and she goes on ministry groups but like most of us she is definitely jwlite, we don’t really do door to door work anymore.

Rattigan350, now beards are not a problem after the WTS approved of them. Prior to that a jw having questions/doubts and sharing them with other jws, would have been in big doodoo.

NotFormer, I was only 1 when that change was made. Some older witnesses from the pre-1953 time period were still alive then and did not seem to get the message, so it had to be made very, very clear. Vaccinations were allowed around 1950, but the WTS was very coy about revealing that. That is why this was changed in 1952. "
● Is vaccination a violation of God’s law forbidding the taking of blood into the system?—G. C., North Carolina.
The matter of vaccination is one for the individual that has to face it to decide for himself. Each individual has to take the consequences for whatever position and action he takes toward a case of compulsory vaccination, doing so according to his own conscience and his appreciation of what is for good health and the interests of advancing God’s work. And our Society cannot afford to be drawn into the affair legally or take the responsibility for the way the case turns out.
After consideration of the matter, it does not appear to us to be in violation of the everlasting covenant made with Noah, as set down in Genesis 9:4, nor contrary to God’s related commandment at Leviticus 17:10-14. Most certainly it cannot reasonably or Scripturally be argued and proved that, by being vaccinated, the inoculated person is either eating or drinking blood and consuming it as food or receiving a blood transfusion. Vaccination does not bear any relationship to or any likeness to the intermarriage of angelic “sons of God” with the daughters of men, as described in Genesis 6:1-4. Neither can it be put in the same class as described at Leviticus 18:23, 24, which forbids the mingling of humans with animals. It has nothing to do with sex relations.
Hence all objection to vaccination on Scriptural grounds seems to be lacking." WT 1952 December 1952, p. 764
(BTW, I knew some jws long after 1952 were still telling other jws that vaccinations were not allowed, probably why the WTS had to make it very clear that they were allowed, especially during the pandemic.

Diogenesister, religions in the US tend to believe that a privilege taken from one religion, could be taken away from all religions. That is why the WTS has attached itself to other court cases where religions are trying to protect themselves from something the WTS wants protection from, even if the WTS does not agree with that religion's religious beliefs. Did it before regarding charging for publications. That decision that that particular religion had to stop charging, is when the WTS had their members stopped charging for the publications, had to ask for a donation to the worldwide work. Many religious have tried to hide crimes behind that principle, that religions have special benefits. Like financial reports, the IRS here only requires a one page report from religious non-profits, while non-religious non-profits have to file a many-page report. Also, though many more people in the US seem to claim some specific affiliation. I understand that in other countries in Europe do not.

Is The GB Paranoid? And Should They Be?
by NotFormer inthe gb seems to have a bunker mentality, that they are special, and that the world is out to get them, so they tend to keep within their tightly controlled, protective environment.
bottlegate proved that there is some danger outside of the rarified atmosphere of their echo chamber; you never know when a camera might be trained on you, or that someone might recognise you as being something more than plain old "joe citizen".
further, tm3's new address was quickly found and distributed, and (as i understand it) someone drove to his gated community to tell the security guard that tm3's "ass is grass".

NotFormer, I meant that the WTS applies that to themselves. They feel they can do no wrong, so it must be from Satan, not their god. The WTS applies that to themselves, not me.
