Beth Sarim, I laid a trap for them, simple, innocuous questions, until the last one dropped and they went silent. I had recent quotes from the WTS for them to see and asked how that fits? They knew they were lieing and that I knew they were lieing, but I did not say they were lieing. Theyconvicted themselves and walked away. I was wise enough not to try to get other people to realize that in the congregation. They would have to see it themselves in the words of the elders and the rest of the WTS.

How many JW in the 1920's
by xaminewt ini'm trying to find out how many jw there were globally in 1924, 1925, 1926, 1927 and 1928. the watchtower of 1926 says that there were 25,000 in attendance at the magdeburg convention for the public address, but the same watchtower say that one the last day of the convention there were 15,000 present, so i assume at least 10,000 were interested persons - non jw.
the watchtower 1955 says: "for this year of 1927 the number in attendance at the spring memorial internationally was 88,544, yet of these only some 18,602 were active as house-to-house kingdom announcers".
these statistics would seem to imply that the majority of jw in 1926 were at the magdeburg convention.

The converse occurred after 1925 came and went without incidence. Memorial attendance dropped by three-quarters, from 88,544 in 1927 to just 17,380 in 1928. (Watchtower 1955 p.366; Yearbook 1929 p.55) (Jehovah's Witnesses in the Divine Purpose p.313) It is estimated that as many as 75% of publishers left the religion and by 1935 memorial attendance was still only 63,146.3 It took until 1940 to once again reach the same number of Watchtower followers as the pre-1925 era.

Where Adam and Eve Vegan/Vegetarian?
by KerryKing injws seem to firmly believe that before the flood mankind eas vegan or at least vegetarian.. however, in gen 1:24,25 it says that god created livestock (domestic animals) and beasts of the eart (wild beasts).. why would adam and eve need livestock if they were vegan and naked?
wouldn't need wool or hide for clothing, nor meat for food.
possibly for dairy products only?

I did deep research on this some time ago, and concluded that the WTS did not say that jws had to be vegan or vegetarians at this time, and that other jws could make their own choice but not insist others had to. As to the so-called new system...nothing is clear per the WTS. As to Adam and Eve, Abel sacrificed some of his sheep to god in Genesis, so they obviously killed animals. Did they eat them, it does not say. As to why god let humans eat animals properly bled after the flood, the WTS has some guesses, but again the bible does not say. I'll try to find that research. The WTS has a pattern. June 8, 1976 Awake p. 14-15 "To the question, ‘Should worshipers of God be vegetarians?’ the answer must be that it is an individual, personal matter. If a person is convinced of the value of it from the standpoint of cost, economics or health, and finds it practical, he may adopt a vegetarian regimen. But he cannot find ethical support for his restricted diet in God’s Word. If he becomes involved in that aspect of vegetarianism, he is losing sight of God’s way of viewing things." AND August 8, 1997, p.18; "Because of health, economics, ecology, or compassion for animals, a person may choose to follow a vegetarian regimen. But he must recognize it as only one way of eating. He should not criticize those who choose to eat meat, just as one who eats meat should not condemn a vegetarian. Eating meat or refraining from it does not make one a better person. (Romans 14:1-17) Neither should one’s diet become the prime concern in his life. “Man must live,” Jesus said, “not on bread alone, but on every utterance coming forth through Jehovah’s mouth.”—Matthew 4:4."
And Watchtower January 15, 2002, p. 23 "In order to thrive, sheep need human care. Abel’s occupation testifies that man raised these domestic animals from the outset of mankind’s history. The Scriptures do not say whether the earliest humans used animal milk as a source of food, but even those with a vegetarian diet can use sheep’s wool. And when sheep die, their hides serve useful purposes. To clothe Adam and Eve, for instance, Jehovah provided “long garments of skin.”—Genesis 3:21.
In any case, it seems reasonable to assume that Cain and Abel originally cooperated with each other. They produced something that others in the family needed in order to keep clothed and well fed."
As to the animals were vegetarians, the study of animals and their characteristics does not support the idea that lions and tigers eat vegetarian, their teeth etc. proves they are designed or evolved to eat meat. That's my opinion. BTW the about above, I am reporting not supporting.

I predicted the 1995 change to my new jw husband (just baptized) and he was amazed. But I did not leave yet. It wasn't until 2000 that I left totally, not even weddings and funerals. I am probably considered just inactive so far. I was PIMO for too long. But the WTS gave me a big push with 3 statements at the same circuit assembly: 1) Their god conditions his jw people like a baby elephant chained to a tree that allowed the baby to go only so far. It was trained to think it could only go so far, even when it became a big elephant and could pull the tree up 2) told people that their non-jw spouses were walking dead people (zombies) despite some non-jw spouses were their with their jw spouse 3) That Jesus is not interested in people with problems (dirty). Not the Jesus their bible describes.
That was in the morning and I told my husband I was leaving and never participating in any jw activities again. I told him if he did not come with me, I was taking the car home and he could catch a ride. He came home with me and we both left in 6 months; turned away the elders, said we had health issues and did not need to talk to them. They don't drop by now after almost 25 years. We don't miss them at all. The first morning we got up and did not go to the Sunday meeting was like being let out of prison. We got up when we wanted, read the paper had a nice cup of coffee and breakfast and have ever since. Love Blondie

Yes, NotFormer, but the goal should be to protect all children from sexual abuse. If laws were passed that affected all these religious groups as well as other places pedophiles try to hide out, all children would benefit, even those in the WTS. My state does not mandate reporting by religions or their representatives, other states do. The religions band together in the US to stop that from happening legally, although they cannot unite on much else.

Olympic games/ jw.org keep on the watch
by Gorb inthe main article on jw.org is about the succesfull olympic games 2024 in paris.. many withness watch all the sport episodes of the games, but jw.org comes with a sour story about the games and not reaching real peace.. again jw.org is on the wrong side of history a d doesn't feel the public anx jw opinion.
the closing remarks of the ioc president bach, thaf the games will not reach peace but plant peace in the hart of people was a strong message.. the organization and message of the games is all that jw.org wants to, but can't.. very sad and narrow minded, as ever.

"Though Habakkuk was forced to keep looking upon mere trouble and the “violence in front of” him, it grieved him. You might now ask, ‘Would he be comfortable sitting with me and looking at the programs I regularly watch on television?’ Ask also, ‘Would he set aside time to be a spectator at so-called sports events that are violent by design, players even wearing protective armor like that of ancient gladiators?" WT publication "With Jehovah's Day in Mind"
"In the amphitheaters, gladiators fought each other to the death or fought wild animals, either killing them or being killed by them. Condemned criminals and, eventually, many Christians were thrown to ferocious beasts. Even in those early times, Satan’s trick was to blunt people’s repugnance to immorality and violence until these things became commonplace and were sought after by the populace. The only way to keep out of that trap was to stay away from the theaters and amphitheaters." WT 10/15/2002 p. 9-10
This "counsel" given by the WTS about sports. But then I know jws that have a shrine to the football team in special rooms in their homes. Or the elder that drove into the parking lot at the KH with a flag of his team's colors attached to the window of his car...

Mandated Shunning is a Crime
by Lee Marsh inmandated shunning is on the rise around the world with devastating effects on millions of people.
shunning that is mandated by organized groups to its members is a form of both physical and psychological violence against those people being shunned and cut off from their family and life-long relationships.
mandated shunning means that the shunning is ordered from the top down.

The WTS is not trying to be kinder or gentler, just trying to dodge this legally and get state government money. The WTS sees things in terms of money.

The Gossip Game
How to play Gossip game? The writer gives the written sentence to someone on their right or left. That person reads it quickly, then hands the paper back to the writer and whispers the sentence to the person next to them. The group passes the sentence along, with the writer hearing it last. Compare the final version with the written sentence. (It is amazing what comes out of the mouth of the last person, nowhere near the original statement) -
