DOC, "My elderly mother just said a recent WT spoke of them sending a young guy to law school." (Judah Ben Schroeder (son of late GB Member Albert Schroeder) was sent by WT HQ to Columbia Law School. Not sure if he graduated. But here is a documented example straight from a WT publication.:
Philip Brumley "" To my surprise, I was assigned in January 1982 to serve in the Legal Department at Bethel. Three years later, I was asked to attend law school and to become a licensed attorney. I was pleasantly surprised to learn during my studies that the fundamental freedoms that most people take for granted, both in the United States and internationally, were strengthened by legal victories won by Jehovah’s Witnesses. These key cases were discussed extensively in class.
In 1986 when I was 30, I was appointed as the overseer of the Legal Department. Since I was so young and barely grasped the complexity of what lay ahead, I felt both privileged and overwhelmed.I qualified as an attorney in 1988..https://www.jw.org/en/library/magazines/watchtower-study-july-2025/The-Battle-Belongs-to-Jehovah/

Lots of adjustments here, I think many jws are oblivious, older ones heads just spun, and new ones don't even know the old info. People who preached this for years, will have a hard time making the "adjustment" by the WTS. More to come I'm sure.

Yes, as the boomers die off (I am a boomer), the WTS realized they have to keep up with technology. Television was once viewed as a tool of the devil and the internet. Evidently, the WTS has learned how to use the tool of the devil. Perhaps the WTS performed an exorcism.

Is the Governing Body hunting down PIMOs? LEAKED survey for select congregations in Canada

LHG, It made me angry and other things I learned about how elders suck up to wealthy jws, one rules for them and others for the "rank-and-file." When my husband was appointed an elder, we both saw the dark side of the WTS in ways we never imagined when outside the golden circle. It took 3 years still in to realize we had to leave or be part of it.

Is there a new rule regarding disfellowshipped people?
by HOTB indoes anyone have any information about a relaxing of the rules regarding family reaching out to disfellowshipped members?.
i've heard of an elder being openly in touch with a long time disfellowshipped family member.
apparently the term 'compassionate view' had been bandied about.. i can't find anything relating to this.. i'd be interested what the new rule is in when came into play.. hotb .

Even after many years out, why can't you stop thinking about them.
by liam inthere is a lot of exjws who have been out 10-20-30-50 years, but for some reason, when they see a group of jehovah's witnesses, sitting by their carts, drinking coffee, scrolling through phones, laughing, something inside happens.
most can't explain it.
some say it makes their blood boil.

Moomanchu "What helped me is, I now look at rank and file witnesses as victims and I feel pity for them. I am grateful I escaped their situation and count my blessing" I felt the same way as realized that I had once been like them, a victim, and somehow had the aha moment, time to leave. I don't discount the ones who knowingly and deliberately did cruel and hurtful things, but I realized the majority are as fooled as I once was. I saw them as individuals, not one mass of people. I am glad I got out and have stayed out. One day others will have an aha moment, and have the courage to leave, and find that they are not alone.

If I remember correctly, the WTS has changed the announcement to "So-and-so is no longer one of Jehovah's witnesses." No mention in the announcement of "disfellowshipping." In days gone past, the WTS announcement also included the "sin" they committed. But that was stopped a long time ago about 50 years ago. (Legal reasons). (In the index of the WTS publications, it now says "Disfellowshipping (See Removal From the Congregation) trying to remove the concept of disfellowshipping). In the 2024 Watchtower August p.31, the WTS now says based on changed policy, "
*We will no longer refer to such ones as being disfellowshipped. In harmony with Paul’s words recorded at 1 Corinthians 5:13, we will now refer to them as being removed from the congregation.
Before the Organized to do Jehovah's Will book (2019) p. 151 (elder's manual) it said, "When it is necessary to disfellowship an unrepentant wrongdoer from the congregation, a brief announcement is made, stating: “[Name of person] is no longer one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.” This will alert faithful ones in the congregation to stop associating with that person

What was really going on with Abel? Does anyone find the story of Cain and Abel screwed up.
by liam inever wonder about the story of cain and abel?
why did jehovah like abel's sacrifice more than cain's?
maybe there's a subtle reason why jehovah likes animal sacrifices.

This occurred to me when I finally decided to read the bible through and started with the book of Genesis. When I read the account of Abel and Cain, I first thought "how could Abel kill an animal" supposedly humans weren't allowed to kill animals until after the flood. Abel must have only been raising them for the wool not for the meat. How did Abel know that he could kill an animal, shed blood, and that god would accept that. Cain raised vegetables, sacrificed to god and that wasn't accepted. I looked it up in the WT publications, the Insight book and read this convoluted explanation. "God expressed favor toward Abel’s offering but not Cain’s. How the approval and the rejection were manifested the record does not show, but it was undoubtedly evident to both men. (the record does not show, why then does the WTS infer or add to the scripture) Some point out (The WTS is doing that) that Abel’s offering is specified to have been of the “firstlings of his flock, even their fatty pieces,” whereas Cain’s offering is not said to be of the choicest fruits (What implying that Cain offered inferior things?) Did Abel think that shedding the blood of a living creature was a more valuable sacrifice, perhaps meditating on the divine promise at Genesis 3:15 concerning the seed, whose blood would have to be shed? Many centuries after Abel’s time, the sacrifice of an unblemished lamb was used to picture the sacrifice of God’s own perfect Son.(John 1:29) However, much of that surely lay well beyond Abel’s understanding. The reason for God’s approval of only Abel’s offering is made clear by later writings. (If not clear based on the account, why assume that Abel and Cain knew why one sacrifice was favored and the other not) The apostle Paul lists Abel as the first man of faith, a Hebrews 11:4, and shows that this resulted in his sacrifice being of “greater worth” than Cain’s offering. By contrast, 1 John 3:11,12 shows Cain’s heart attitude to have been bad (so God knew what Cain would do before he did it, that there was no hope Cain would not follow through on his thought?); and his later rejection of God’s counsel and warning, as well as his premeditated murder of his brother Abel, demonstrated this." Well, this started me asking questions about other accounts like this and looking up what the WTS had to say about it? By the time I got to the end of the book of Genesis, I had looked and researched 20 topics, and I realized that the WTS had their own slant on things, (where the record did not show).
