My last time in service was the last day of the month, on a saturday, and I was auxiliary pioneering and I was working with the C.O. It was a surreal feeling because I had decided I was leaving, but no one knew. Everyone thought I was this perfect little witness. That last saturday in field service was the last time I went out in service or stepped foot in the kingdom hall after being completely active up until then. It was a beautiful day and we were working in a beautiful semi-rural territory and I remember having pleasant conversation with the C.O. I finished up my 60 hours for the month that morning and that was the end of everything.

last time in field service
by darth frosty inanother poster had the topic about your last meeting, but what really stands out for me is my last time in service.
it was a nice day and i was trying to keep up appearances.
i offered the rags a one door and the householder took them (i didn't bother with the donation spiel.

I woke up to my JW mom reading JW literature to my stomach

i am pregnant with my first child and my mom is visiting me for a few days.
i was laying on the couch taking a nap and she was sitting down and reading to my stomach.

I'm pregnant, too, with my first child (and my parents' first grandchild) and my mom is coming to visit next week from across the country, so I can totally relate to your story. I'm hoping that my mom will not try to pull any witnessing crap, but I, too, am facing the possibility of having to have some sort of "draw the line" conversation with her. My husband told me if my mom tries anything funny, he's going to put a smurf doll in the room where she'll be sleeping!

CAT or DOG - Why?
by hamsterbait ini am amazed at the almost complete polarization between cat and dog lovers.. .
i know few who love both.. .
cat lovers argue that cats are more intelligent than dogs.

When was the last time you walked a cat.
Believe it or not, my husband takes our cat on a walk every night. Our cat had a severe allergic reaction to his shots, so we don't give them to him anymore. He loves to go outside, though, so we figured this was a good compromise, to make sure he doesn't come in direct contact with other cats or catch any rabies-carrying critters. He's pretty darn cute with his little leash. Sometimes he gets enthralled with a bush or something and stops and rolls around, and once in awhile he tries to take off after a bunny or a chipmunk, but for the most part, he walks right along at a pretty good pace. We get lots of interesting comments from people in the neighborhood!

My Wife's reaction to the Revelation Book news
by under_believer inso, i told my wife about the july km news that we'd be studying the revelation book again.
"good," she said.
"good?

I think I would have to kill myself if I were still in and had to study that book again. The only thing that got me through it the second (or third) time was coming up with a very complex, artistic underlining scheme that had absolutely nothing to do with the actual "answers" to the questions.

Let's Decorate the Kingdom Hall!
by Nosferatu inone thing that always sucked about the kingdom hall was it's blandness.
bland wallpaper, bland paint, no pictures, no windows, maybe a fake plant or fake flowers, the big sign with the years text, the cork board, and contribution boxes.
boring.. what would you put into a kingdom hall to make it look more interesting?

The kingdom hall I grew up in had green carpet and purple velvet seats. It was awesome! (apparently purple and green were the p.o.'s wife's favorite colors when the hall was first built). They remodeled in the late 80s though and changed everything to mauve. yuck. some stuffed bears at the entrance would have been a definite improvement :-)

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE/WORST STUDY BOOK?
by badboy inwhich ones did you hate and which ones did you like out of the study books?

my favorites were mankind's search for god and the greatest man. The second time through the revelation book was pretty tortuous. I remember trying to decide whether or not I should get a new book for the second time through - if I didn't, at least it would look like it was studied when I hadn't studied. If I did, I would have a whole new fresh surface for doodling the time away.

Witnessing at school
by I-follow-the-narrow-path ini was in class and by these two women (one who was a christian and the other student i am unsure of).
i asked them, randomly, "do you know much about jehovah's witnesses?
" -- they both said "yes" and the non-christian said "i had a jw friend and he really hated it... he disaproved of what they taught" -- i started to talk about shunning and disfellowship.

Narrow - I agree with all the other posters who stated that you need to get some professional help and that you should DEFINITELY do some more research before getting any more involved in the witnesses. I am certainly not making this post to encourage you to continue studying (I think you'd be much better off if you stopped). But I also wanted to let you know that my brother is a witness in good standing and he cuts, too (he has not been abused) and the elders know about it. He has not been disciplined in any way by the congregation. He refuses to get professional help for the cutting (although he is getting better on his own over time and my mom discusses it regularly with her therapist). It's definitely not a normal activity, but it's not something you can't overcome, and the fact that you WANT to get help is a big first step.

Da Vinci Code reviews
by aniron inhere are some reviews i came across about the dvc film.. "the greatest turkey ever told".
"an awful book ..... by great acheivement turned into an even worse film".
"after all the hype, controversy and theological arguments, ron howard's adaptation of dan brown's all-conquering novel is finally with us but unfortunately it's a bit of a damp squib.".

I definitely did NOT think it was well written, but I still couldn't put it down. And I went out and got Angels and Demons as soon as I finished it. I think the hook is that it makes you think about things that you've been taught and taken for granted your whole life in a different light, as opposed to just being a run-of-the mill action story.

When Did You Start To S L O W Down In The "Truth"???
by minimus inwhen you look back at it, what got you to slow down?
?

lucky
mentally, I slowed down after the generation change.
physically, I didn't slow down. I stopped abruptly. I actually auxiliary pioneered my last month (and made my time! although I never turned it in) and the day before I left for good, I worked in service with the C.O. I gave a talk at the last meeting I attended.
