  I've been living in Oklahoma City for 12 years and never saw a JW except about 11 years ago and my Mother sent those. Before that, I lived in Little Rock, AR and never s JW. I remember when I was a JW in the 50's and we covered our territory often. They are really slowing down .

  WTS Cashes In On Tsunami

  in an informal announcement at service meetings this week (corroborated by the question box in the january 2005 our kingdom ministry, pg 7) jws interested in contributing to the asian tsunami disaster should contribute directly to the "worldwide work" (the general fund).. the entire article referenced above: .

  what is the best way to make contributions for the benefit of needy brothers in other lands?.

  at times, we hear about brothers in another land who have come into material need because of persecution, disaster, or other difficult circumstances.

  Poor Knat... he has no idea what he is talking about. You are dead center on what you are saying. The WT thinks only for itself... there is no love for people there. Oh, yes, some of the misguided folks at the bottom of the chain are lovely people I am sure, but just don't get cross way between them and the GB and see just how ovely they are then.

  Speaking as an ol' timer, I just feel sorry for Knat... he will learn the real WT Society some time in the future and then be very disappointed....

  was just out at church and came home picked up my bible and read some thing.

  it really jumped out at me so i thought i would share it ... it never made sense to me before it was always very confusing.

  if it confuses you wait for the explination because i feel it may let you see what i saw in it.

  i always wanted to re-read the bible after i left the org; to be able to read it without having to feel like i had to apply something, or to have to read it out of obedience, etc.... well, i have always liked the new world translation, i know it isn't perfect, but i think it is better than some.

  but i have always wanted to get a different modern english translation, and read that.

  well, i finally picked up a new international version at wal-mart the other day...under $6, what a bargain.. started last night, and finished genesis today, and am just starting into exodous.

  Oh, yes, I love the Bible. I especially like the book of Romans because now all the promises Jesus gives is for me, not just a group of old guys up in Brooklyn.

  When my mother (JW) saw I was reading the NIV she almost camed unglued. I guess that's a good version to start with.

  Read with an open heart and mind and the Holy Spirit will shine the light of understanding on the pages.

  Do you become empty inside after leaveing the witness's?

  i find myself feeling empty inside sense drifting away after my being shuned, and my divorce from my wife who was a witness, and after my daughter had been molested by a stupid brother in the hall that my ex-wife started living with after my becoming disabled.

  i am newly married now to a good women who is not a witness, but she is honest and kind to me and understands what i have been through, but still i feel a empty somewhere in side of me.

  of note during this time of pain, i fell hit my head and lost a major portion of my brain which left me disabled, and very emotional at times feeling like all is lost, i just can't throw it.

  Is the Organizaton slowing down or are we just imagining it?

  every time i speak to an active jw in my congregation, they don't give me the impression that they are slowing down.

  if i say that i see less jw's on the street knocking on doors, they will say that many are working full time.

  they will also probably say that the hall is always full of people.. i don't go to the hall anymore, so i can't say if the hall is full or not, but i notice that there are way less jw's going door to door than before in this area.

  I moved to a new city about 11 years ago and so far only one JW came to my door and they did it so quietly I didn't hear them so they left mags. They don't know I'm d'f so that isn't the reason. I really think the work has slowed. When I pioneered way back in the old days (early 60's) we had to put in 100 hours.

  Reading the KM Dec 2004 instructing the "flock" on how to make hotel reservations... they are really control freaks... sounds like they don't have nearly the control they did years ago. Back in my day they didn't control as much as they try to today. They are slipping and they know it.

  Hence, as you associate with a congregation of Jehovah?s Witnesses, you are with people who have become more peaceable or pleasant.

  I can't believe they can even write that with a straight face.

  Blondie,

  I've been lurking here for a long time reading your wonderful summaries of the study articles in the WT rag. Thank you so much. You have given me information I would never get any other way. You see, I've been out for over 40 years, but my Mother has been a witness for more than 60 years and continues to spue the "truth" at me. Thanks to you, I can see what is coming in advance and have answers to her attacks.

  Keep up the GREAT work. You are a blessing... Hope you are feeling better.
