would you go back if...
by what_Truth? ina member of the gb splits breaks away and takes a few billion with him.
he decideds to found his own church.
this church is almost exactly the same as the jehovah's witneses except for a few major changes .

Not under any circumstances. I guess I'm a bit jaded over being lied to for so many years.

Did you pray because you felt like it or because you were told to?
by JH inwitnesses pray many times a day.
at the field service, at the meetings, before each meal and even more.. i don't know if you're like me, but i didn't pray because i felt like it, but because i was told to.. personally, 1 long honest prayer a week would have been much better than 20 routine prayers.
did you feel that it was natural to pray 3 times a day or more?.

My sad news
by Fe2O3Girl inas some of you on the board knew i was expecting a baby, i feel i should let you know that things have not worked out for us.. when i went for the 20 week ultrasound scan last thursday, severe problems were found with our baby's internal development.
only one kidney was detected, and it was very enlarged and polycystic.
there was no long term hope for the baby at all; if it survived to full term it could only live for hours at most.

So, if you handed a JW a copy of the UN report on the WTBS involvement, how do they react? Are they able to explain this away? Do many even know about it? Just curious.

Letting myself get frustrated
by redskymedic inthe only jw i still have contact with is my mother, mainly due to the fact that she is close with my 12-yr old son.
she is single (divorced actually), cleans for a living, if that's what you can call it and has no other children.
while she doesn't shun me per se, she certainly isn't overly friendly and keeps most of our communication limited to grandkid info.

Redhot~ oh nothing's wrong with her yet. She's only in her early 50's, so I guess I'm jumping the gun a bit here. She has been ill in the past and I have been the only one to consistantly be of any help, that's what got me started on the whole idea of old age, etc. So you have a 13 yr. old son and your mom is a JW? Yep, sounds a lot like me. How long have you been out? Were you DF'd, DA'd, faded out? Don't mean to be nosey, just curious. It's been 8 or so years that I've been away. How is your relationship with your mother? Any influence on your son? I may have read answers to these questions already in previous posts, but I can't keep track, I read so many.

Do you know of any "baptized" JW's that committed suicide or attempted?
by booker-t ini remember one of my childhood friends was found dead and the police said he committed suicide.
i just could not believe it because my friend was a "devout" jw almost franatical about it.
now years later since i have seen both sides of the coin i am beginning to wonder if my friend did indeed kill himself.

Guess I could also mention that my devout JW mother made several (nearly successful) attempts . . . they chalked it all up to psychotic depression, but she flat out told me one day that she couldn't bear the thought of my son and I being killed at Armageddon. She's still there, though, plugging away.
