i am sure i am not the only one that thinks it's ridiculous that they allow pre-teens and young teens to get baptized.
i know now that i did not have a full understanding of the implications of baptism.
i did it primarily because that's what was expected.
I don't so much have trouble with baptism of young teens but HUGE problems on their treatment if and when they themselves realize that the organization is not for them.
Because of the shunning later, teens do not realize the full implication of their actions. Baptism is the one action that could fully shut out their family forever. That is unconscientionable (sp?).

So, my JW mother passed on word to the local cong. that I was DF-ed, had just moved into the area and could use that yearly 'shepherding' phone call to see if anything has changed. I was not home at the time, my husband took the call. I am debating returning the call. With all the new info I now have under my belt, part of me thinks it would be empowering to have a discussion with an elder that didn't leave me on the defensive. The other part of me thinks I'd be better off banging my head off of the nearest wall out of frustration. I would love to hear for myself what rote answers they have to offer up. I certainly wouldn't go as far stepping into a KH or letting them into my house, but I'm wondering if a phone call would be just as bad. Any input?

Too much for my liking. More now that I've found this site . . . which, of course, isn't a bad thing.
one thing that carries a real serious threat to the wt is the fact that most jws in developed countries have email addresses.. you know how some send out general emails to all their freinds and when you get the email it has "all" the address on the top because the person sent that particular message to everyone all at once to save time.
think how dangereous that is to the wt, because when someone get to know the truth about the wt and becomes apostate they have all these email addresses that they can send information to to deprogram other jws.
this can really snowball in time.
Sometimes I wonder if it's possible for them to be any more contradictory. Just confirms my belief that they are all a bunch of loonies!
