last evening we went out with 2 other former jw couples a couple of guys and their wives i knew from the old days of bethel.
we were discussing the public apology that the catholic church just authorized to be made to the child abuse victims for their cases being mishandled as well as that $100 million dollar check they just cut.. .
and i will ask you all the same question .
Let me see if I got this right.
Victim goes to elders for help. Elders call society for legal advice. Society gives legal advice. Elders follow the kind of advice that only clears the society from legal repurcussions. Elders think the society is backing them and there to protect them. Victims sue elders and the local congregation. Elders take the fall for the society. The society can't be touched and gets to keep their money.
Now, don't that want to make YOU reach out?
they are actually the happiest group of people on earth.
can you go just to god for forgiveness?.

When one is on the outside looking in as we both are now, (by choice) how awfully pitiful it all sounds. After reading the Bible without the "brainwashing" next to it or rather in place of it, it becomes so clear how manipulative it all is for their OWN self centered, monitary gain. Telling you what to think, how to act, what to wear, how to give YOUR own answers using their words, what to believe, and even how to FEEL. I know there's much more in that list. It's appalling and just tooo sad for those inside who still believe in them.
i stayed up all night to see it... the buildings out the windows of my apartment shimmer in the distance as a wave of golden light rises from the horizon, painting the sky glorious shades of blue, violet and orange.
the darkness recedes, creeping through the forests before the city.

Sub standard motels and hotels were the norm for the Daytona Beach assemblies. We couldn't believe the smelly, moldy, cockroached filled rooms they negotiated with. They even gave a reminder at the meeting not to use any others even if these were not the best. Do they get a kickback?? or just a discount?
We refused to sleep in any of these they were so bad and took a room elsewhere. We weren't catching a disease, aggrivating my allergies, and suffering all night for a $2 savings and then try to convince ourselves we were suffering for Jehovah's name. REDICULOUS!.
i read the draw close to jehovah book because a jehovahs witness told me that it had some ?deep?
spiritual information in it.
the book appears, at first glance, to be all about knowing jehovah god and his attributes.
Did anyone ever notice that much more print and type is devoted to teaching us to have faith in the Watchtower

I remember a funeral at the hall years back. The parents of a 16year old girl who was killed in a car wreck barely made it into the door of the hall due to hysteria over loosing their only child. That behavior was tolerated that night and maybe for a month, but three months later when the mother still couldn't attend a meeting, or sing certain songs without breaking up and running to the ladies room to cry, THIS WAS TOO MUCH!
"Friends" and elders now started making comments about over-grieving and time to move on and have faith in the new system and ressurection from the platform.
I remember her crying about the comments made to her in the ladies room. I hugged her and told her ,"Don't let ANYONE tell you how long you should grieve. You take as long as you need too."
SOOOOO uncompassionate these people are.!!!!

I think my husband is the wisest man I ever knew, He hates when I tell him that knowing him makes me understand Jesus, because he lives like it and treats people like him. And if I were to ask him for wise advice to share... he'd say, "I don't have any".
