i once had a teacher who told me that for each complex problem there is one simple, but wrong, answer.. while i recognise many valid points made by those commenting on that topic by a@g, i might say guys, that the main argument maybe too simplistic, to say the best, statiscally speaking.

What exactly is Apostasy! by definition of the WitchTower?
by Number1Anarchist inmy eyes really started to open up when i discovered we were not studying the bible but witchtower literature.
so 99 percent of what you study is man made material uninspired by jehovah.the only time the bible is referred to is to support the literature.
they offer free bible studies but once again your not studying the bible your studying witchtower literature so in reality they should say would you like to study our witchtower literature and refer to the bible ever now and again.

What does one need to interpret the Bible?
by insearchoftruth ini have posted some thoughts on this on earlier threads, but the pesky jws have approached my wife about a bible study again, but my wife has let them know that this time she wants to learn how to read the bible and then after she is able to do that, she may consider some of the other books.
i have a couple of concerns about this, firstly, from what i know, the jws consider reading thier literature on a par with reading the bible, in fact i am pretty sure that they will try to lead her back to the bible teach book and let her know that she is in essence getting the same 'food' this way as she would another way.. secondly, if she decides to study the bible, the questions from readers that has recently come out all but prohibiting independent bible study will most likely come into play.
witnessgirl provided a good course on this, let my wife know that we are going to read the bible, not study, which could be a loophole (but i doubt if she asks a jw about that they would see a difference, but my stubborn wife may), but i think my wife would say she wants to study, not read....... a pesky jw provided her with her copy of the insight books and she also has the reasoning book, but i want her to actually feel she can read the bible and take from it what the literature presents in itself, not the slant that any organization or person wants her to take from it, even though if she reads the nwt version (or really any version for that matter) there is already a man provided slant.

607bce or 586/587 bce ? which is it?
by Number1Anarchist inok this is very difficult for me because i just started studing this question.
what i would like to know is what have you decided from your studies and does anyone know the statistics on how many beleive in the 607 dat and how many beleive in the 586/587 date.. the watchtower likes to say they agree with the 607 because that number is based on the bible when the 586/587 is based on secular history.. from what ive read so far the mojority thinks it to be 586/587 because most searches ive done give me that date.. what have you come up with in your research?
i feel like you almost need to be a scholar to figure this out.

by What-A-Coincidence in(the email basically states that the congregation will not receive a disasociation letter or a verbal dissociation because there is no biblical precedence for it.
i also attached a pdf regarding the 'truth' and told them they won't read it because they have no freedom to think anymore.
also told them to kiss my mexican ass.).

31 Years A Watchtower Slave
by truthseeker inmy other half has accepted this.. after many years of fading i have stopped going altogether.
i still have friends and family in so i'm happy to remain inactive.. .
i was never a very good watchtower slave to begin with.. i was raised in the truth but i never really put my heart and soul into the religion.

That organization is run by Apostates. They do your thinking. You can not think for your self once you are baptized. I feel disheartened, confused, betrayed, depressed and angry.

i've been a baptized witness for 21 years.
i was raised roman catholic, went to a parochial school for 8 years, public high school, the usaf for 4 years during vietnam, got my first good job after the military in 1974 at age 25, got married in 1976, went to pentecostal, baptist churches for awhile, and was presbyterian for 8 years during my first marriage that ended after 10 years.
