What bad habits have you picked up since leaving the Borg.
by James Mixon ini went back to smoking and gambling but the good habits out weigh.
the bad ones, like lying to people.
is't fraud against the law, the practice.

I would 't call it bad stuff. I have gambled, smoked weed, fornicated, celebrated birthdays/christmas, swear and so many other things. -

EdenOne - how awesome that your child is blossoming! You sound very proud and why not. I think your plan of action makes sense. I wish you happiness and success. Stay strong, take courage and be kind. -

Question for atheists and nonbelievers
by pressman ini profess to teach the truth to you all and get you to all to think and believe.
believing in christ through his words and not through evil religious cults, like hoj and jw, can and will save you.
do you all realize that every time you are victorious and receive something of value through your hard work and sweat, it was our holy god who blessed you.

pressman: you said: Do you all realize that every time you are victorious and receive something of value through your hard work and sweat, it was our holy God who blessed you.
I totally disagree with that. It is YOU that has blessed yourself and it is because of YOU and YOUR hard work that you get whatever you set out to get. It amazes me that people will hand that over to some 'god' that they haven't met / seen / heard from.
There is no god. There is no father being that looks down on his creation and is filled with love. There is no going anywhere when you die.
The quicker people accept and realise that they are responsible for their actions and are accountable for their actions and accept that there are consequences, the better.

Hey Eden - I'm truly sorry to hear that and I cannot imagine what you are going through, but WingCommander is right - suicide is not the way to go - remember our dear friend Oompa!!
What can I suggest? Perhaps the best thing is not to talk about the organisation at all. Don't bring it up, if it comes up, don't be bitter about it. Just try do little things with your wife again, buy flower, cook a meal, rub her feet - small things that will remind her how much you love her and how much she loves you.

Tear down the whole of South Africa
by Louise inthere was a statue outside the rhodes university.
a 30 year old black student then threw his pooh on the statue and that got the ball rolling to pull the statue down.
the board of this university built also gives out burseries and grants to previously disadvantaged black south africans and not disadvantaged black south africans.. there has been a huge debate in the country and now the statue has been removed.

So I have seen the most horrific pictures coming out today. 2 men - heads cleaved nearly in half.
Bodies burnt and burning.
When BBC reporters report on the goings on here, it does come across a little sugar coated at times...like it's not SO bad, it's just a little thing.

How do stop myself getting too Bitter?
by stuckinarut2 inyou know, i always maintained that during this fading process, and while learning ttatt, i would not let myself get "bitter twisted and angry".... but, in all honesty, if i examine myself, i have become quite bitter toward the org, toward the false friends and the gb.. i have become angry as i see the extent of damage i feel being raised in "the truth" has done.... i feel hurt towards the lost opportunities in life etc.... how do i not allow myself to get too swallowed up by such bitterness?.
i have always been a very happy, positive, selfless person.
i can put people at ease, i am someone people feel comfortable chatting to.

Feel that bitterness, let it come out. Vent, rant, rave, spit blood at them. Well that is what I did and then I was over it. Totally 100% over being in that faith and what it took from me. I can discuss that part of my life as being part of my history and that is it.
July 12, 2015 will mark 10 years I have been disfellowsjipped, or given my freedom. The best 10 years of my life - with all its ups and downs.

Struggling
by Alive! ini read here regularly and although i haven't joined in, i really appreciate all the wonderful contributions from those who are willing to share their experiences.... .
i was a convert.
i won't go into the whole history ( perhaps another day) - my story could easily be recognised in the small town where i live, with my husband.. so, we stopped going to the meetings around a period of time when we were going through severe emotional difficulties - at that point, we needed unconditional family love - the hectic, forced jw dinner parties and social occasions gave no real comfort.

Alive! Hello and welcome. I'm so glad you posted on here. One thing is certain, this family can relate to what you are going through. When the "truth" starts unravelling it can be daunting, confusing, hurtful.
That Jw family comes with conditions. As you draw further and further away so will they. You and hubby have got to start branching out and finding new people to hang out with. Join a tennis / bowling club of some sort, get to know those people and create new connections. Not easy, but it will be worth it.

Having Faith in the Bible
by william draper ini know many on here have lost faith in the bible , is it possible that is because ones do not have the right perspective regarding it .
we have usually been taught by bad teachers , or ignorant .
i believe if we take an honest look at the bible , we will see that it gives us the best answers to crucial matters , it gives us some amount of bearings ( understanding ) , which without having such knowledge we would all be more like walking zombies in amanner of speaking , we would be lacking hope in something better , for surely something better is to come , how can we be sure , .

To me the bible is just a book. I can take things from it and use in my life. I've done this with other books I've read. If there are gems that resonate with me, I keep them close.
