Mulan,
Tha't terrible about the sister who committed suicide after an elder's visit. What could have gone so badly?
It is all so sad.
i remember one of my childhood friends was found dead and the police said he committed suicide.
i just could not believe it because my friend was a "devout" jw almost franatical about it.
now years later since i have seen both sides of the coin i am beginning to wonder if my friend did indeed kill himself.

t'was obvious that he had abused his position and was lying about it.
never trust anyone who constantly tells you how honest they are - especially if they are a politician.. .
kind of ironic that this duffus who wants to tresspass into everyone elses private affairs with identity cards and the like is caught out by a privacy scandal.. .
Couldn't agree more.

Sadly yes, only few months ago. She was the presiding overseer's wife. She had been in and out of hospital for a few months and had already tried to kill herself using pills. This time she hung herself from the stairs and her husband found her when he came home from work. It was terrible, the funeral, everything - terrible.
Her husband thought that she must have been feeling better that day because when he left for work she had already got up and washed her hair.
I can hardly bear to write about it.
in the future, there might appear some biographies of our favorite judge.. but in the meantime, how about collecting in one place all the information we have concerning j.f.
rutherford?.
i place this in scandels and coeverups because there has been a bigtime coverup throughout the years on all aspects of rutherford's life.. it is high time for some light to be shown on him!.
What an idea!
Instead of the ghost of Christmas past, present and future, we could have the angels appear to Rutherford (like he taught he was guided by the angels) and reveal to him the past miseries infliced on brothers in Germany following his bidding, the present frustration of those he forbid to marry and the future demise of the Watchtower empire in the year 2034. He would repent and send everyone a Christman turkey!
i'll start.......a woman wearing a skirt higher than her knee and a child crying during a meeting
Not going to meeting in a language you do not understand
by now, most of you will have seen the scanned images of the watchtower's service report for 2004. i do not have the feb 1st magazines, so i cannot speculate further on the reason for not issuing the report in the january 1st 2005 wt.
looking at the figures, there are some trends that should be considered very disturbing to the wt leadership.
although baptisms increased marginally by 3,571, the difference between the average number of publishers and the number of baptisms is eye-popping indeed.
Very interesting compilation Truthseeker.
In the countries you mention the decline in publishers coincides with a smaller decline in congregations.
But take a look at Mexico over the past few years and compare the trend in publishers and the trend in congregations - very strange indeed!
Do the same with the Congo - same pattern!
Something weird is going on.
many of you migth know the archetypal jewish hero was joshua (the successor of moses) otherwise known as yeshua ben nun (?jesus of the fish?).
since the name jesus (yeshua or yeshu in hebrew, ....ioshu in greek,...( source of the english spelling) , originally was a title (meaning ?saviour?, derived from ?yahweh saves?
)......what was jesus's real name?
bob
the january 15th wt, "can you control your future" is the prelude to the feb 1st watchtower that contains the 2004 annual service report statistics.. .
in the second study article (pages 15-20), the gb acknowledge the fact that people aren't paying attention to their waffle.. .
there are some surprising statements in the last paragraph, but first, let's highlight some points in this article.... .
TruthSeeker,
I was going to point out that August is always the highest month and that September is always one of the worst months for publisher numbers, but I see that you have figured that out already.
However, before you get carried away with the 30,000 drop off in publishers this year, do realise that this is actually a smaller drop than between August and September in the previous two years, as the statistics you provided shows.
Why is August always the month with peak publishers? This is one of the biggest mysteries in life, I feel. Lots' of answers have been suggested, but none of them fully satisfactory, in my view.
Back in the good old days when western developed countires experienced regularly, 5% growth or thereabouts, then I could understand that August would have the peak publisher number simply by virtue of the fact that it is the last month in the service year, and the numbers were always rising steadily month on month. But what about now when there is very little growth? Why does the peak still always come in August? Possible explanation:
1. Inactive ones have been geared up to go on the ministry again after the summer convention.
2. This is the last month for pioneers to get their hours in, and their increased activity (read: frantic meeting of quotas) boosts the turn out of other publishers with whom they go on the ministry.
3. Lot's of people on holiday in July forget to put in their report and put intwo reports in August instead, thus skewing the numbers since they are counted twince in the same month. (this could be tested out by looking at the Australian figures, since their summer holiday is, of course, in December). - this solution was originally suggested, as far as I know, by Singelenberg in his article about the Dutch reaction among witnesses to the 1975 disappointment.
4. Elders are encouraged through the KM to get everyone to put in a report for August especially. (this did happen once two years ago, but it does not happen every year, and cannot therefore explain why August consistently contains the peak publisher number)
Has anyone got any other explanations or views on which explanation I have given is most satisfying?
2004 worldwide service report
jehovah's witnesses are up this year.
1,019,000 live in the lower united states.
If the death rate of Jehovah's Witnesses is higher (which has yet to be shown) than that of the world's population, then that means that more of the differential between baptisms and increase in average publishers can be accounted for by deaths rather than people being disfellowshipped, disassociated, becoming inactive or irregular.
That is what it means, yes sir, that is what it means.
i have the feb magazine with the new report in it.
if anyone is interested to know any of the figures then let me know and i will post it over the next half hour or so....
I was only kidding, sorry, they are real
Goodnight
