Yes, a local JW used the phrase “bunker video” in a Watchtower answer. Pretty suspicious methinks. 😎

JWs using 'apostate' phraseology?
by neat blue dog ini've mentioned before how a regular pioneer used the phrases "tight-pants tony" and "don't drink the kool-aid".
well the other week, a different regular pioneer, and elderly one in fact, was talking about the simplified watchtower being discontinued and the normal one replacing it, and she said 'i guess they're just gonna dumb-down everything'.
then too even the org itself used the words "fade" and "shun" in recent articles, words that were previously shied away from.. anybody here experienced something similar, a seeming pimi saying something that makes you wonder if they've been sneaking ex-jw 'spiritual food' on the side?.

Is attendance down in your location too?
by StarryNight9 ini was commenting on another thread about how local kh attendance is down.
memorial attendance was also way down and the circuit assembly had hundreds less people than what is typical.
my jw family has even mentioned it.

Where is the evidence that lots of new KHs have actually been built in Africa?
Remember it was only a few years ago they promised thousands of new KHs in the United States, right before they started closing KHs down.
If any new KHs are built in Africa my hunch is it will only be in countries that disallow Watchtower to remove funds from the country as is the case in India.

Will they publish figures next year or phase them out?
Will the numbers be reliable even if they do publish them? With no monthly figures in the Kingdom Ministry there is no way to verify annual figures any more. And with the numbers turning south there is more incentive than ever for Watchtower to fudge the numbers.
But the one statistic we should be able to verify is the number of congregations in each country. This may take some time but I think it is a figure worth compiling independently of Watchtower statistics. Because not only can it be indepdently verified, but number of congregations is one of the best measures of overall vitality, growth or decline of the organisation.
The number of congregations has already declined significantly in Japan and Germany, and other countries, including even the United States, look set to follow that trend.

I wouldn’t trust a thing the woman said. If there’s anything worth reading or watching then I’ll wait until someone who isn’t pathologically malevolent and unreliable says it.

Katie Hopkins, good grief.
Seriously have I stepped into some sort of bizzaro world the past couple of years? Something’s gone badly wrong in our society when this sort of thing is taken seriously and we get the political outcomes we have lately. I’m still kind of hoping it’s some sort of joke that’s got out of hand.

Our local KH dropped from around 80 to about 50 during the 1990s and has hovered around 40 to 50 range since. But what has also happened is that all the young people left and practically only old people still there. At least half the people are over 60. It makes you wonder who is going to be left in the KH in 20 years time?

Review: Apostasy
by neat blue dog instan's recent post about the apostasy movie reminded me that i had watched it last month, so i thought i'd write a review.
please note this will probably contain some spoilers so if you care about that sort of thing hold off on reading this.. first i want to say that this is probably one of the most if not the most accurate and reasonable cinematic portrayals of jws.
however here is a list of little inaccuracies: an outdated view that preaching to all the world can 'make' the end come, jesus briefly portrayed with long hair, judicial reinstatement meetings being called "guidance meetings", a normal weekly public talk being introduced as "the first in a series of talks he's prepared for us", applause at the end of a local needs part, and a jw saying of god "you need to earn his love, it's conditional" ( i know this is basically true in practice but they'd rarely say it out loud).

That’s the best review of the film I’ve read.
Personally I found the film very bleak. The film is true in the sense that the important details are accurate, and it rings true on a deep level when it touches upon what it actually feels like to be a JW.
At the same time I would also enjoy seeing a film that shows JWs who are not quite this miserable, because not all JWs are this miserable; a more ordinary depiction where disaster doesn’t necessarily strike. But I guess that wouldn’t make much of a story.

Simple introduction to the theory of evolution

i thought i would post this simple but interesting video which shows how scientists bring multiple lines of evidence together to prove evolution is true; for example:.
comparative anatomy.

Is it in accordance with this Bible statement about God?
Romans 9:18 Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.
19 One of you will say to me: “Then why does God still blame us? For who is able to resist his will?” 20 But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’”[h] 21 Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use?

The extinction of the dinosaurs created the gap in which mammals thrived and humans ultimately emerged.
If the world of natural selection as it actually exists is not compatible with God then what set up would be? A planet where people gather vegetables in large baskets, lambs and lions lie down beside each other, and children play safely with snakes? Where have we seen that picture?
If we say “a loving God cannot do it this way” who are we to tell God what he can do?
