  I just read the intro thread and now this one. Round and round in circles to say nothing at all.

  UNTIL...

  The last post. Took until #97 to say anything real. Too bad it took so long to get that out because those are real feelings and beliefs and that is what this forum is great at addressing.

  As funny as some of these two threads were, man!! What a lot of time spent on that merry-go-round.

  I hope defd/gaba comes back (or at least lurks) because there was a whiff on honesty there finally.

  If he doesn't, perhaps another lurker will benefit.

  Run In With Ex-Father-In-Law (Elder/PO)

  i had forgotten how much drama it is to deal with an elder who refuses to answer a direct question.

  this isn't even bible related yet still he refused to answer my question.

  first a little background.. last week my daughter missed detention.

  I would absolutely press this issue. I would commit it to writing. Print out your documentation here. Consider taking to your attorney.

  When I dealt with this sort of thing (my dad being evasive about my niece's whereabouts while she was in my care (2000 miles from her parents) I was LIVID. My dad never heard me use obsenities until that day. 'Don't f*ck with me when it comes to taking care of Megan or any other child. Don't f*ck with me on this.' When he finally told me where she was, He got it again: 'Don't EVER f*ck with me like that.' He was WAAAY out of line and my nieces parents backed me up. He was not allowed solo visits for 6 more years.

  Ooooo this stuff steams me....

  Stories like this slay me.

  I think he was not only disrespectful to you but to your daughter, too.

  He's viewing her as a possession and was playing 'keep away' with you.

  If he really respected her and had regard for the sanctity of the child in his possession, he would recognize and support the appropriate discipline that was supposed to be administered at school and just give you the simple information you requested.

  What a jerk. I feel bad for your daughter. And he doesn't seem to be doing such a good (over the past several decades???) of raising responsible, self-sufficient people. I sure would be concerned for my child's well-being while in his care or presence. I'm sure he has attitude with her, his children and his wife.

  A side thought... Your opening dialog on the phone. Maybe he's offended that you didn't acknowledge him personally in the greeting. Simply went right to xxx's grandma without greeting him and identifying yourself. Just a thought...

  He's still a jerk and probably still we be for a few more years - !!

  I was called by a JW wanting a favor...

  yep - you read that right.. i had a message on my answering machine - a jw i used to know long ago, left a message, wanting me to help out with some legal matters (i have worked for the criminal justice system for about 15 yrs now).. my husband just about had a cow - here's someone who wouldn't talk to me at the grocery store, but has no problem talking to me if they need something?

  i thought to myself, could this person really be that nieve about human social situations - ie: if you're going to be mean to someone, don't expect a favor from them .

  ok ok, i know - i should show more christian attitude, turn the other cheek, and call this person back.

  Maybe they thought you were trying to score points with Jehovah by looking out for one of his sheep. Trying to gain back a little favor for your evil past... ;-)

  OK I was silly witness dork who sat and actually took NOTES when Kasey Kasem counted down the top songs of the week. I probably still have that exact list packed in a box in my garage...!!

  I think I know all the words to all those songs. I was 15 in 1975. And was pretty much confined to home watching the kids and doing housework.

  Where's that other list... The one that asked: You know you were a teenage JW if......

  well saw him on the academy awards last night...ok, np.

  today on the oprah show, chris rock was on there tooting bout how prince had an after oscar's party, with many there including himself.

  and how prince did a few tunes.....hhmmm wonder how many from his cong were there, you know the reverant window washers and carpet cleaners.... no, just bad worldly associations.

  I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!!

  my wifes father has just died.

  he wasn't a jw but his wife is.my wife and i are recently disassociated.. the thing is, the reason my wife and i disassociated is because of cruel comments made by certain sisters toward my disabled daughter.

  now my wife has to see these 2 particular people everyday at school (their 2 kids are in class with ours) now usually, they stand away from my wife waiting for their kids and walk out after us.

  i just did a search on the cd and ther was a mjor article on child abuse in the awake of july 22 1976 starting on page 5 and going to about page 10.

  OH!! This makes me so angry.

  I was molested at age 6 by a neighbor. A male babysitter.

  I absolutely remember reporting to my mother that I didn't like when he babysat us. I didn't like that he came in my room and pulled down my pajamas and touched me.

  He continued to be our babysitter with the stipulation that he was not allowed to come upstairs. He did anyway.

  Nearly 30 years later, I learned that my younger brother (he was 3 at the time) was molested by the same person.

  Our JW parents' response to their grown children about this issue?? "Child abuse and molestation just wasn't such a big deal in the 60's" And besides, we needed a babysitter.

  It's criminal. Pure and simple. The purpetrators and those who allow it.
