Sorry about the truck. I did not know. Hope no one was injured in the crash...
I've heard it said: "Happy Wife; Happy Life." I take it you concur.

yes, it is 6 years today since i entered a kingdom hall for the very last time, and with each passing year this particular "anniversary" gets happier.
even better this time, i have so many people to share it with who have had the same kind of jw experiences as me, in the past the friends i have made since leaving the lie kind of acknowledged it, but didn't really understand, so i just want you all to share in my joy today.

Hey Dedpoet!
Today is anniversary for both of us!! Although mine is for joining JWD.
I wish I could remember the actual date (or even the year) of my last crossing a KH threshold. I'm not even certain of the year that I decided I needed to segregate myself from a wayward organization.
Congrats on the event and the 6 years of 'spiritual sobriety' - as Carmel named it.
Enjoy!!

defd/derrick is a current-jw posting on this board.
he's been on for quite some time now, maybe not a year, but awhile.
many have tried to show him the many ways the watchtower doesn't live up to its claim of being god's organization, but he seems unflappable.. so where do you stand on him now?
You're Welcome.

ummm Lucky MRS defd
I agree with other posters - Defd does have critical thinking skills and so makes decisions based on 'informed consent'. Do I care if stays JW or not? Nope. Doesn't affect me in the least. I respect him for his willingness to consider and discuss topics with all you apostates. (*ahem* - hehe)
My only 'caring' is for his children. I think it is cruel to raise children in the organization. My parents started studying when I was 10. Although I was a faithful little witness for Jehovah, and proud of my devotion, there was a significant drop in my sense of self. My parents blamed it on my 5th grade teacher. I now see it as much more than that. It was a social upheaval. I was a social outcast with my peers. (As an elder's daughter, I was also a quasi-social outcast in the congregation - not invited to the fun parties, etc.)
My best hope is that Defd considers long-term effects on his children. I lost so much of my childhood by being a grown-up child and teenager in the org and I can never, ever get that back. I believe that is very possible to raise morally responsible children outside of the org and that they can have a very 'normal' childhood that will enable them to be come extraordinary adults due to better understanding and acceptance of cultural and religious bias.
Intolerance of human growth and development scares me to death.

1001 ways to say i'm not one of jehovah's witnesses.. and one year into my apostahood.
this forum has been a 'godsend' to me.
(i dared to know...).
Dave - Thanks for the sentiment! You were the very first person I communicated with here. I was a little tentative but gave you my work email address (better security than my home email - just in case you turned out to be a psychotic stalker.) You sent me your writings on Birthdays. I was moved by your kind and respectful manner and your logical presentation in the essay. You were the first active apostate I ever 'dealt' with. And the fact that you really aren't a psycho-killer-stalker was such a relief.
Dedpoet - I plan to stick around here. I read much more than I post so I won't promise 1000's, but still a good number... Thanks for posting
misspeaches - I think the same of you. I enjoy your posts and look to share more theads with you.
prophecor - Cool Photo!! There have been times when the excitement of 'New Things Learned' on JWD was more brilliant and heart-racing than off-shore fireworks. Love the pic. Thanks a bunch!!
Brenda - The weather is beautiful!! And the air is so clean and clear. You are still the only person that I have met from JWD - even if it was 30 years ago!! (my little sanity island) You have helped me link parts of my past and present life. Love and Best Wishes, Denise.
Luna - Thanks. You can count on it!
I Quit - Good suggestion. Not that I think I will need it, but good to suggestion nonetheless.
Thanks again, everybody !!!
Party at my house tonight until midnight....
Hugs and Drinks all around.

I wonder what 1000 posts makes me??
I missed it, too.
Yet this apostababe also likes your most-recognizable one.

okey dokey, the 47 people who sent me a pm with their details to be included in the secret santa should now have received a pm with details of who to send a gift to.
if anyone hasn't received a pm and thinks they should have done, please pm me asap!
paul
I got my pm.
I hope my recipient posts/has posted on the Wish List thread.
Oooo fun!!

it is with little or no regret that i have found it necessary to disfellowship the watchtower bible and tract society in order to protect my good name.
after unrepentantly fornicating with the scarlet coloured wild beast for 10 years and having been exposed by a worldly organization, i have not been able to find any note of contrition or shame.plenty of time has been allowed for an apology but nothing has been forthcoming.indeed, minimising the sin indicates a haughty attitude.
i,for my part, will forever be ashamed of my association with wtbs.i apologise to bible students i've had and the fear i have displayed in saying nothing for 24 years.
Brief hijack..
Biddie - at the bottom of a thread (where you would select 'Reply') there is a link to start a 'NewTopic'.
Realize though, that your new Topic/Thread will be placed under the same general category as the one you are reading.
For those few times when I have started Threads, I have gone to the main JWD page and first selected a thread under the category that I want mine to appear under.
I hope that helps.
Back to the thread, already in progress...
