hello all, i've been reading your site for a couple of years now, and have found, for the most part, it to be very helpful.

i must say, at first i was very "scared" at what i might find, but contrary to what i grew up learning, there is a "wealth" of information outside of the watchtower organization.

i haven't attended meetings for about two years now, and like many i've read about, have spent many hours researching, telling myself "i'm not wrong for searching", and doing more research.

scholar: True, you have simoly followrd a methodology which from 539 enables one to cakculate the dates for the Babylonian rulers. There is nothing new in this but it is torpedoed by the seventy years. IF the seventy years is factored in there there is a twenty year gap between secular chronology and biblocal chronology. For this reason, WT scholars although using 539 as a pivotal date folllow a different methodology based on the exile rather than a regnal methodology. So we have now two methodologies

Okay, who would know best what was to occur at the end of the 70 years to mark the end? You? The WTS? Or the Jews at the time?

Flash: because by their apostacy they chose to no longer be in a relationship with Him. Jehovah honored His covenant in spite of their leaving Him.

Almost agree completely. During the periods of apostasy he honored his covenant with his friend, Abraham. Otherwise he would have eradicated them more than once.

There is no need for a specific organization to carry out the fulfillment of the remaining promises. In fact, structured organization is not required if Holy Spirit is real. Bureaucracy always limits the free exchange of ideas.

announced our circuit overseer last night in his talk about the urgency to preach because of the times.

followed by a silence that was broken with ohhhs and ahhhs.

he said that a couple of times throughout his part, simulating a beating heart with his fist.

In the account of destroying the Amalekites, applied very far out of context. The Israelites were instructed not to let their hearts show compassion. But they were never instructed to glee in the death of their enemies.

the topic was the apocalypse and whether or not children will be slaughtered.

through one side of his mouth, the po stated that the bible is not clear on the matter, while out the other side he pointed to all those old testament accounts where children were killed.

Eglon also might have thought he was a messenger for Chemosh, or some other Moabite God. (w97 3/15 p. 29 Ehud?A Man of Faith and Courage) Interestingly, there is no mention of Theocratic Warfare of the sort you mention, or of any intent to deceive. There is mention that Eglon might have gotten the wrong idea, but nothing to indicate that Ehud caused his erroneous assumption.

Why? Do you know something more? Please quote your WT source for any other understanding.

I provided Strong's understanding of that Hebrew word. Feel free to post whichever understanding you would like to use for the Hebrew word that indicates it can only mean "spoken" word. You either didn't read or didn't understand the explanation of the Hebrew word. The usage can variously imply "matter," or "adverbially a cause: - act, advice, affair, answer," "task," "message," "errand," "tidings," and even "work."

As I said, "matter." As many translators render the word, "errand." It really is a shame that I go to the trouble of including that definition and you don't even bother to read it. It is certain that a message can take the form of an action. As can many of the other words within the scope of meaning the original Hebrew word carries.

i was just wondering since i've started taking a yoga class.

not that i would mind being df'd but not ready to lose the family.

i lost my wt library cd so i don't have access to the society's stand on yoga.

lilbit: ok Im gonna piss everyone off but I cant help myself.

No offense taken. Here is a logical poser: If you are going to try and explain to those who always face the back of the cave what is the true nature of the shadows and light, where would you start? (ala Allegory of the Cave) Would you start by describing the existence of small furry creatures that scamper about in forests filled with trees, or would you start by using their own experiences, their own perceptions, if you will, and slowly building on them?

Or perhaps you would start by telling them harshly, "Those shadows aren't real! They are simply the effect of you sitting between the wall and a light source! Here, I have a flashlight! I can make God's wherever I want!" and proceed to dance shadow puppets around the walls for them, stripping them of both life-long belief and all dignity in one instant.

I trust you would be more gentle than the latter example.

Schizm: I have a request for you: Will you please reveal here what handle you post under at the e-watchman forum?

If I had a handle at e-watchman forum, I can't think why I would share it. I certainly would not see a need to deny its existence, however.

That said, I have no login/handle/username on e-watchman. If I remember correctly that is Randy's site and I hope this won't offend him; I have visited e-watchman forum a total of 1 times in my life. I really didn't care for the arrangement of information so I didn't stick around.

Why do you ask? Is there someone who posts there who puts you in mind of me? Do you post to more than one apostate Web site?
