It's so hard to say, but this is the conclusion I have come to with my own life.
People make their own choices, they have a CHOICE before them, to accept you as their child and give you unconditional love OR to as they put it "remain loyal to Jehovah" which really translates to, remain loyal to the WTS. I can't imagine a mother and a father shunning you for rejection of the religion solely, that seems so ridiculous. Other parents have reasons such as immorality, etc, but beleiving something different is not a good enough reason to reject you.
My mother doesn't associate with me and I have come to accept it as her choice, but I will not fake who I am or what I believe in. I don't like to lie, the one thing I am in life is HONEST. I'm not perfect, but I am honest and have integrity and will not lie to myself or others.
Sending you lots of love and hugs.

I used to know the "Gotay" family that lived in Hollywood Fl, they lived right off Commercial Dr, 5 mins off I-95.
They were really a sweet older hispanic couple, but I think their kids all thought it was hogwash and left.
I live about 3 hours north of you on the east coast.

Are Those Of Us That Do Not Preach or Attend Meetings Still JWs???
by minimus inwhat's your opinion??

It's an action, I agree.
If you are sexually active, you are sexually active, if you're not, you're not. You can't hold the title of something that requires action if you are not active.

Baby Found Tossed From Car
by Yizuman inabsolutely shocking.......... .
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/n/newborn_tossed?site=inins§ion=us&template=default.
why would anyone want to throw away a beautiful baby out of the window of a car is beyond me!.

The idea that you can drop off your child that is unwanted to a police or fire station, as cruel as that sounds, was made to protect the babies out there that have been thrown into dumpsters or just abandoned as trash. The person who does this faces no legal/criminal charges. Yes, it might be immoral but at least the baby stands a chance at life, rather than death in a dumpster.
She does sound mentally unstable though

Time Magazine Article On Ray Frans fr/ 80's?
by ithinkisee ini was reading jay's 20-part story over on freeminds.
amazing stuff.. at one part he says "then sometime later a time magazine article was released which discussed what happened with ray franz.
in a subsequent issue of time, i also saw a letter from ray franz where he clarified some aspects of the original story.".

I've told part of this story before, but my mother studied with an inmate who was facing trial back when I was 14 yoa. He was charged with rape and murder... well, he learned the "truth" was going to get baptized and the JWs were behind him all the way. It was sickning.
Anyways, he ended up convicted and sent to death row here in FL, he continued to smoke and so he couldn't get baptized and once the support group went away after he actually made it to death row he quit studying etc.
But it made our local papers that the JWs were studying the bible with him.. etc.. and a local elder had a prison route where he counted his "time" studying with inmates.
Seriously can you see Armeggedon coming and all of us being destroyed and the gates to the prisons being opened and they all walk out and are the "righteous" ones who inherit the earth? That is sooo laughable.

They must just be doing the witness work, because all the sheep have been collected, they are just warning the wicked... and any day now....
I am sure they look at the figures and say, WOW in 60,000 hours that I spent last year I must have warned 60,000 people about Armeggedon, just like Noah did and no one jumped on the ark with him.
There is always SPIN!

The Good Samaritan and Jehovah
by confusedjw inthe good samaritan and jehovah.
one of the huge struggles i have now with the morality of an all powerful god is how he does nothing.. think of the suffering of children in the world and yet god is no where to be found.. yet, we are taught that we need to be good samaritans and are condemned for not being.. i say that jehovah should set the example.
i can think of multiple times that he ordered the slaying of children, but can?t recall the accounts in the bible where he just went in and saved children.. well jehovah?
-
JustTickledPink
Actually I can't remember anytime that God, the real God or Creator, ordered the murder of children. I do remember reading men's writtings who God told them to do this and this... but I liken that to the terrorists of today that say that their missions are from "Allah"

What's new? -- Gilead and the Spectre of Death
by logansrun inhello again gentle members, .
remember, i never said i was leaving for good in my "goodbye" post.
seems my life is getting a little more dubbish of late and i'd thought i'd pull a michael jordan "i'm back out of retirement...till next time" and fill you in.

JustTickledPink
Yeah, I was just thinking that if anything might shock your mind into questioning things, maybe Gilead and the "work" might.
Everyone in their small congregations always views the problems as being due to the local flock... BUT they always believe that everything up at the top, Bethal, GB, etc are perfect and just this heavenly pure place filled with the Holy Spirit. If they get there and then realize that hey, guess what, it's just like at home they might wake up. Here's hoping it's a move for the best!
Sorry about your sick family members.
