lol it kinda sucks.
i had my first week at my new job (so a little stressed) and my big sis and i had planned on spending the weekend together.
then she decided it wasn't a good weekend when i was all ready.. anyway, what are good ways to have fun when you're bored and have nothing to do all weekend and no one to go anywhere with?
I read books, I have hobbies like making jewelry, scrapbooking, etc.
But if you're bored you need to get out and mingle with people. Find a coffee shop and go and sit somewhere and read, at least be out and mixing with other people. Try your Barnes and Noble if you have one.

take the religion away and I think most JWs would still have that mean streak. Maybe they're attracted to the religion because their behavior is actually commended.
I emailed my mom and told her how she was so upset about the tsunami destruction and the poor orphaned kids and I said think about that on a global scale, can you really imagine god doing that? Because to me that is soooo heart wrenching. Her reply was,
"Yes there will be bodies strewn over the earth.
Just as the bodies of the Egyptian army was washed up on the beach the
day after Moses and the Israelites crossed the Red Sea. All those who
don't want everlasting life will die anyway, so does it really matter?"
When I read that email that she believes that it doesn't matter... I realized the callousness of the beliefs, but they are HER emotions.

The thing is fear can be based on real things that can happen, like a tree falling in a storm and causing damage, OR it can be "I'm afraid of the monsters under my bed"
Well, how do you prove there are no monsters under the bed? You have to go LOOK, some people are so wrapped up in their fears that they aren't willing to go 'look under the bed'.... the monsters are Armeggedon, death, destruction, etc... If only they'd look, they'd see that there is nothing to be afraid of and they can quit having ulcers over it all.

she and her 16 people, limos, $1000 a night rooms each, mink coats, apparently are visiting due to a fire she had in her house here a year ago and she needs to sign some release papers along with sking in whistler mountains.

I think stories like this are good, maybe someday people will give up the monarchy of countries. Just because you were born, I don't understand the entitlement and the money that is poured that way.
On that topic, has anyone watched the reality show on VH1 called "Love is in the Heir" ... it's really stupid about this Princess who is such a lazy spoilt brat that wants to be a country singer. She has no job, and lives in L.A. It's hilarious.
i find it hard to beleive that one needs a certain formula to follow in order to pray to god.
any formula you find got to be a human invention.
it is hard for me to imagine a god that is so petty that he won't answer a persons prayer unless they follow with the ending "in jesus name" come on that sounds crazy.
It's like when you get on stage and you have to tap on the microphone and say "is this thing on" and then you realize its on... that is how prayers work, you have to get the mic on (jesus is the mic) and then you say the prayer through him... (through jesus name) and then you end. The mic then gets shut off.

we had a phone call yesterday, after being "inactive" for 6 years.
not having attended a meeting in 4 years, we get a call saying they are concerned that they had heard we believe in evolution.
my partner said "not necesarily believe in it, im just not discounting it at this time.
That line of reasoning might go along with, your husband cheated on you but you forgave him which proved your love was unconditional. If he hadn't cheated, he wouldn't have known you loved him no matter what.

I also agree and tend to try to stay away from the words that might imply anything to do with being a retard, since that means mentally handicapped or disabled.
Being mislead is a better term, but once someone has been shown the truth about the truth and refuses to see anything different then I do believe they display something other than being mislead. That is an informed choice.

I don't see what's so hard to accept or understand about the state of non-existence. Everyone wants to believe we might have a soul or spirit that is immortal, or that we go somewhere. As stated above, how about just looking at biology and seeing that cells have birth, life, and death cycles. The atoms and elements go back to the earth and that's it.That's how I believe it to be anyhow.
Once you cut a tree down and you burn the wood, you never question where did the tree go... It didn't go anywhere, it is just gone, burned, non-existent.
those of us who are multi-generation "born into the wts" people, exist only because the wts exists.
my grand parents were all jws, both of my parents were born and raised in the religion and i was born and raised in the religion.
the simple fact of the matter is that if it was not for the wts existing neither of my parents would exist and therefore neither would i. sure brings and interesting new twist on the time travel "go back in time and kill your father before you were conceived" paradox.
All I know is, if someone hadn't posted this particular question, we wouldn't be here debating the answer to it. I might actually have gotten some more work done!
